Hopefully someone will see this and learn something so coming from someone with seizures (grand mal) HERES WHAT YOU DO WHEN SOMEONE IS HAVING A SEIZURE: Time the duration of the seizure, keep the person away from hazards and sharp objects, don’t suppress their movements (but try to support their head or place a pillow underneath), don’t put anything in their mouth, try to lay them on their side so they don’t choke, lay them on their stomach after the seizure, and stay with them. AND:::: don’t call 911 unless they’re 1) not breathing 2) never had a seizure before 3) are seizing for more than 4 minutes 5) not responding after the seizure and/or 6) heavily injured due to their convulsions. as someone who has epileptic seizures everyday (tonic clonic) I understand the vulnerability of being filmed whilst being incapacitated. I’ve been robbed, assaulted ect… when I’ve had seizures in public; it’s constant paranoia. When I first started experiencing seizures my neurologist asked my mum to video them and then she sent them to him so he could identify what type of seizures I was experiencing. She said that it was so hard to have to film me and that she said ‘it almost felt criminal’ even though she was doing a good thing. I can’t fathom anyone filming someone in that state and then sharing it to millions of people, especially when it’s your own child. This is so triggering to me that I had to skip the entire segment lol. This is only appropriate for education purposes, for medical reasons (to send to your doctor) or with the persons prior consent.

And I hope you find something that works for you! Mine are deff worse or more often when I'm extremely stressed out or having severe anxiety/panic attack so if I'm really feeling weird I'll take a klonopin to double up n calm down, but yeah i hope u found ur thing that gives ur brain/body a break... I don’t have epilepsy, but my sister does and although I’ve never experienced just being a family member of someone who does just shows me a lot about their mindset. I commented something similar after talking to a friend in your position, but good to hear straight from the source! I have a good friend who's a first responder and I asked her if she's ever seen someone taking photos during a medical emergency like this. She said while it's important to record seizure durations and when they occur (so they can see if intensity or duration escalates, etc.), she's never seen someone have the presence of mind to record or photograph a child in medical distress, especially for a first seizure. She said sometimes she's attended to calls wherein a family will be taking notes of when the ambulance arrived and are telling her how long the seizure lasted etc. because their family member has a history of seizures and they're used to recording and relaying that info, but taking photos is new to her. You could argue that they were taking them as a means to time stamp each portion of the event to relay to their primary care physician, but given what we know about this family, I kinda doubt it.

It would take forever in the intense summer heat to also grab rogue carts, and push them all from the edge of lots to the corral to struggle to push back into the store with cars and people going by. It would suck even more because the carts locked at the edges of the lot so I would have to carry this giant remote to unlock them and sometimes it wouldn’t even work so I had to push a stalling cart back to the store. Also, we have other duties like bagging, a toooooon of go backs, helping customers, cleaning the whole store, etc. We’re only giving some time to collect carts and expected to clear the lot of them, we can’t do that when we’re running around to carts all over the lot.

so I have a good friend who's a first responder as part of an ambulance crew, and I asked her if she's ever seen someone taking photos during a medical emergency like this. She said while it's important to record seizure durations and when they occur (that kinda info is really helpful in case another happens later on and they can see if intensity or duration escalates, etc.), she's never seen someone have the presence of mind to record or photograph a child in medical distress, especially for a first seizure.
@tess..2 жыл бұрын
You’d think the first thing on the parents’ mind would be the health of their child- not taking out their phone to film then post. Never mind I was a lifeguard for a long time and parents typically panic in situations like this.. wouldn’t be able to steadily hold a camera /phone
@RealElongatedMuskrat2 жыл бұрын
@@tess.. exactly, my friend said most of the time she's seen parents pacing in the background, trying not to get in the way but wanting to do anything to help, and needing some reassurance from her or her team that they called at the right time, they did the right thing by calling, and that their child was getting the best care they could by having trained staff attend to them now. Sometimes they'll make a call to another family member as they pace to let them know what's happening in case they need to go to the hospital, or they'll be sitting in a heap and praying, but snapping photos (nevermind such clear ones!) is not something she's seen before.

@@4nd4s I'm so sorry you and your bf went through that. I think that's probably the most common reaction, it's a really shocking and terrifying thing to experience and no one ever expects that it's going to happen to them, so it's perfectly understandable that panic mode set in! I agree, the weird detached nature of these people discussing their child's seizure is so bizarre, especially for a first seizure! It would be a bit more understandable if they'd been through it before with him, it's a terribly challenging thing but if they happen often enough, I think slipping into a routine survival mode is reasonably common (taking all the necessary measurements, having a hospital bag ready, etc.). But their demeanor here is just... off.

anyone who defends leaving a cart in a random spot is the worst kind of person. no one cares how tired you are, if you’re having a bad day, etc. there’s a thing called ordering your groceries online if you’re too much of a lazy bum to put a simple cart back. cart corrals are never more than 30 feet from your car. and most people need that extra 30 foot walk 😭

58:46 I love how Dan always finds ways to subtly relate what they're talking about to Dungeons and Dragons without explicitly saying it. I wish he would just bring it up so they could talk about it. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the best game ever. Edit: If they need a DM, I’d be more than happy to oblige and teach whomever doesn’t know how to play. I just don’t know how to get in contact with them.

I'm so intrigued by DnD as someone who's never played, it looks so fun but I'm overwhelmed by just how much info there is out there. It seems like it would be so much fun, but also like there's a lot of rules and stuff to learn before playing, and I've never met anyone who plays it so idk how to even go about learning.

I live in Toronto Canada. My local grocery store charges 1$ (Looney coin) for the cart and you get it back when you return it. Funny enough people always return the cart. In other words, if you dont have a dollar, you shouldn't shop here lol

since you guys are talking about the labrant family, i think it would be super interesting to deep dive into the new controversy with them homeschooling their oldest daughter to take care of the younger kids. there’s plenty of clips that show how clearly unhappy she is about new baby announcements and meeting the new kids because she knows how much responsibility will fall on her. would love to hear your guy’s opinion!

A febrile seizure is a fever-induced seizure, which happens in children as a somewhat-common cause. But don’t get me wrong should not be a common occurrence! CPR is only started when someone’s heart or breathing stops, so “lifeless” is an accurate description if CPR was warranted. Love, A nurse ❤️

As someone who is chronically ill, taking videos of symptoms can be really vital in getting the correct care (doctors routinely won't believe you when you tell them things without proof, especially if you are stereotyped as hysterical or if the doctor treating you is sexist, racist, ableist, homophobic etc etc etc) but the only person who should ever see that footage is the medical professionals who are directly treating the patient.
@keighleestudders97622 жыл бұрын
Yeh I was gonna say this. My daughter had the same thing happen when she was 10 weeks old, the ED told me to try to record it next time it happens. We ended up getting flown by royal flying doctors and staying in hospital a week, getting mris etc. however if paramedics are present it’s less likely to be important to record because they can explain in medical terms. Also it doesn’t make posting it to social media any less icky
