Looks incredible They need to start selling beige cases again.

Then they would be overpriced and say retro gaming

agreed Samuel. Have you checked the kickstarter monitor? They might release a beige retro led monitor. Have a good day mate!

Very cool idea. By the way, you can get floppy drives that mount internally and hook up to the usb hub on the mobo.
@AlfaPro13374 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of that, but use the USB motherboard pin to USB type-A. www.lindy.co.uk/images/usb-2-0-motherboard-header-adapter-p2741-1703_zoom.jpg

I use a Pure Base 600 with an X99 system, and the air flow is adequate. Couldn't support an extreme OC, but it's not designed to. The front intake mod is really clever though, and the whole project seems to have turned out nicely. Well done.

i had a beige computer keyboard and monitor back in the early 2000s when i was a kid and i just want to make a sleeper pc because i really liked the look of the old beige computer i had and i think its funny having a 3080 in a computer that looks like its from the 90s
@KodiakWoodchuck4 жыл бұрын
You could get a USB floppy drive controller to make that floppy drive work and plug it into a USB header on the board.... That'd be awesome. Amazing job on this, I'm thinking I may replicate this build soon.
@Eddies_Bra-att-ha-grejer3 жыл бұрын
There are PCI-E cards that add a floppy controller, works better than doing it through USB.
@KodiakWoodchuck3 жыл бұрын
@@Eddies_Bra-att-ha-grejer Neat. Didn't know those existed. But that makes sense.
@UNSCPILOT2 жыл бұрын
@@Eddies_Bra-att-ha-grejer where did you find those? Been hunting around and didn't find any actual pcie cards, some old pci cards that might work with a adapter "maybe". Actually started building a Window XP era machine with old parts just to have a PC with real floppy support, both because I had some of the parts already and because I've been having too much fun with a little old Sony Mavica FD75 floppy disk camera, it's a neat counterpart for my modern Canon EOS M200
@Eddies_Bra-att-ha-grejer2 жыл бұрын
@@UNSCPILOT Ah, you might be right, I might have been looking at PCI cards. If I was to install a floppy drive internally I would use a Greaseweazle or something like that either way, because that way I could read and write Amiga disks and such.
@mikey5102 ай бұрын
i made a "sleeper" build and the floppy bay was populated with a USB dock. in case you wanted to make that space functional.

Honestly incredible outcome. I've been looking for a Pentium III pc for a long time now and they're just all gone or $200 so I'm probably just going to build one and paint a new case.

I just did the same thing but to a case I've had since 2007. Just waiting for a floppy drive that I ordered to complete the case
@Megatog6152 жыл бұрын
you should get one of those floppy drive adapter cards(34-pin to usb with power connector) that allow the floppy drive to work over USB, then get an internal USB header adapter(converts motherboard header to a usb port in-line) and plug it in. only caveat would be to find a way to get a 4-pin power cable to it but there are cables that can convert the 12v molex to the smaller kind that floppy drives use.

you need some geekenspiel retro stickers for that thing a pentium intel or AMD K6 sticker or something... maybe a soundblaster sticker... or something... I am trying something similar with a Bitfenix nova mesh case 3d printing the front but i've not gotten around to getting the offsets for the holes right yet thought i have a Dell Dimension XPS D300 inspired first draft for how it may look...

god bless you ive been trying to find these kind of retro stickers everywhere LMAO

That is a hell of a great job! Looks the part and the rear panel in silver is the cherry on top. While beige != white, I wonder if going for a white version would've sufficed with minimal painting needed vs repainting a black case (more of an in general vs this specific case). Looking forward to checking out the completed build of this for sure!
@JKTravelsShow3 жыл бұрын
I was about to add that it needed some stickers... but just noticed it the description you updated it with some. Great job! I'm also building a "retro-looking" computer too.

Cool This ventilation grill is the biggest highlight in the billd. I'm currently working on an similar project and I'm going to use or a metal grille or some fun filter painted baige. My base is a simple 2009 black (painted) ATX case. It lacks in cable management.
@MilkBreakMinecraft3 жыл бұрын
There are a ton of old beige ATX cases out there though. Building a modern sleeper PC in an old case like that would seem like less work than making a modern case look retro.
@The_MEMEphis3 жыл бұрын
They are expensive and you have to change the entire inside
@MilkBreakMinecraft3 жыл бұрын
@@The_MEMEphis You can find them pretty cheap, and ATX cases from the late 90s don't need any changing
@The_MEMEphis3 жыл бұрын
@@MilkBreakMinecraft ya they do their mounts are all completely different and not design to fit modern motherboards you need a completely different back plate
@MilkBreakMinecraft3 жыл бұрын
@@The_MEMEphis You really don't. Maybe you got unlucky. I literally built a modern PC inside a late 90s inwin case, and the motherboard standoffs were in the perfect spots. The ATX standard hasn't changed much at all, and is mostly still compatible. If you had one that was completely different, it probably was an AT case.
@The_MEMEphis3 жыл бұрын
@@MilkBreakMinecraft well the atx standard wasn't made till 1995 and had a major change in 1999 so any early 90s case doesn't work with modern motherboards especially if you do AMD builds also ATX just refers to the size of the case nothing else, and the back panels are very very different since I/O has changed alot since then alot with the pin connectors for power supplies, also the shape of gpus have completely changed since then and can be impossible to fit without making modifications, I personally am also doing an AMD build so ya
