Hi Dave and Jean! I’m so glad to hear you’ve been enjoying my videos and that they bring back memories from ‘home’. I’ll have to go and do a tour of Matlock for you and show you around now ☺️ They’ve expanded the bridge so that it’s two way traffic now amongst lots of other changes but I’ll have to do a video so you can take a trip down memory lane xx

I also live near to the castle, played there as a child, I plan to go there this summer and take photos as I am in the middle of writing the history on this place.

It’s a really lovely estate, we’re always there for a walk ❤️ yes it’s a shame they couldn’t afford to keep it in the family, although there’s a lot of places like that. Running these houses costs an absolute fortune and they really need to be run as businesses to survive these days

I love Elvaston castle so much I used to work there in the riding stables nearly 40 years ago and know every inch of the place I’ve moved away now but visit a couple of times a year it hold a very special place in my heart ❤️ thank you for this video (new subscriber)

My very best wishes to you and your lovely family fo this new year. On yet another cold and damp winter Monday, it is lovely to be reminded of the heat of the summer, even though it got so extreme at the time ! The grounds of Elvaston castle are so lovely for a gentle wander, but it is just such a crying shame that no one has had either the capacity or the will to deal with its restoration and upkeep properly.

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful year ahead too! Oh yes, it’s been absolutely miserable weather here for the most part hasn’t it?! One of the reasons we haven’t been out that much to film recently so I thought a flashback would be better this week. I feel as though my brain has blocked out just how unbearable the heat was last summer 😅 There was no escape from it! We always love wandering around Elvaston castle, I’m there most days just to get out and about for a walk ☺️ I agree, it’s been a shame that the council let it fall into the state it’s currently in. The only blessing is the grant they’ve now got so there is finally a plan of action and work being done, about time!
