A Non-Railfan Plays Train Simulator

Train simulators usually come pretty natural to railfans, but what about those who don't know anything about trains? Well that's where my friend Matt comes into the picture! Longtime viewers might know him as m00ter who voiced characters like Chessie from Marysville Railroad Stories or Toby from Granger Rail Tales. He doesn't really know anything about trains, so I figured it would be fun to see him learn how to drive a train... in Train Simulator.

In the UK, there is no rule about blowing the horn when starting, and very few trains have bells, so that isn't a rule either. Instead, we require all trains to have a two-tone horn to allow car drivers to tell the difference between a car horn and a train horn at level crossing.

Hauptbahnhof is the German name for Central Station? I thought it was the name of a city in germany. I have Trainz 2006 and on a tram, it says Hauptbahnhof. It felt like Centrale Statione would feel more like the name for Central Station.

@@se-os6xt haha no, it only says if it’s a station (Bahnhof) or a central station (Hauptbahnhof). The city name is in front of the station like in this example Frankfurt Main Central Station ( Frankfurt Main Hauptbahnhof) 😀

If you care, IBIS stands for "integriertes Bord Informations System", "Integrated Board Information System" and it's a little computer that does a lot of things but most importantly, it tells automatic switches which way you want to go. It's used in highly frequented areas where trains often go different ways over a switch. I am a tram driver in Austria's capital Vienna and our trams have IBIS too.

fun fact, "Little Guy" (or "Invincible" as it's actually called) is preserved in real life on the Isle of Wight steam railway, so that's pretty nifty, I would say they also have versions of that tank engine that aren't invincible on the TS marketplace (it's like, saddletank pack 01 and saddletank pack 02 or something)

As a TS player for over 12 years now let me tell you, DLC was not always this expensive. Most of us buy our dlc threw third party steam key sellers now, or wait for sales. The issue is dovetail lost a lot of players but didn't want to lose money.
