Making ny playthrough as a mage and it looks like Malenia is easier for a melee build. As a mage i'm able to pretty easy go through 1st phase and make around 6k dmg after her 1st blossom when phase changes with comet azur, yet in 2nd phase she becames much more active and spams me with attacks. And since there is no as much buffs for magic damage and Selia Comet don't make as much poise damage as melee heave charged attacks i'm unable to stagger her and do not so much damage as you.

Gotta maximize damage while managing your fp, once she doesnt let you spam cast your spells you gotta get even with her, carian slicer with parries is probs the best but a bit skill demanding, if not you can always just wip out something like moonlight greatsword or even helphen steeple to chop her up, but yeah malenia is tough on caster builds

The keywords would be with a different build each day I beat unalloyed Malenia a few times, I just don't think she allows as much playstyle diversity (or maybe I'm not good enough at fighting her) I felt a bit more pushed to play a certain way there, it's still very fun just not as fun as vanilla for me, I much prefer the same modder's version of morgott, that is a direct upgrade on vanilla morgott imo.
