fav plant butter is Country Crocks. they make an Avocado one and Olive oil one. I can't both. The avocado one is great for recipes that call for high heat for long periods of time. Olive oil one is my favorite is it not only has a buttery taste, but a slight hint of that olive oil flavor too.

Fascinating, I would make this so differently. When you use a cheese slicer like the Boska-Holland from Amazon, you get beautifully thin ribbons. If you well salt and gi fry this low and slow, it caramelises giving you a semi chewy/crunchy almost noodle-like mix (spoiler this technique can level up your okonomiyaki game). I'd add mandolin shaved brussels sprouts for a cabbage but sweeter more bitter bite, half raw and half cooked into the mix and I'd probably add some kraut at the end for some added sour and umami. I'd serve with toasted pine nuts for some crunch.

Have not been a cabbage fan - one of those foods I avoided for a long time. But now that I am a grown-up person (very grown-up, old actually), it is ending up in my cooking more. This is a very appealing recipe, so will give it a try. As a mother, I can say it is wonderful to have kids that look after you. We live with our daughter and it has been a real blessing for all of us. Feel bad for families that have become estranged. Happy Mother's Day to your wife and mom.

Wonderful cabbage dish! I love cabbage in various ways and cooking for 1 can be a challenge to eat a whole head, even if I get a smaller one 😂 I think this is first time in ages I haven’t had everything in recipe in my fridge, but these can easily be purchased next trip. Flavors look amazing. I tend to prefer plant butter in many dishes bc it does add just a bit of flavor. Definitely trying this. As a vegan who battles kidney stones, I have to watch oxalate content in my diet. Thankfully, the main three items in this recipe (cabbage, kale and chickpeas) are low oxalate so it’s a good option and looks yummy. I have a feeling this will be in regular rotation for me! Thanks for bringing us lots of plant based options that are fairly easy to put together on busy weeknights.

good to hear ya taking care of ya Mum dude, also, since I started watching your videos, I have not cooked a single meat dish, it's been about 2 weeks now? been experimenting with Tofu of varying types and firmnesses (new word :D ) and found a smoked Tofu which took it to a brand new level, very happy that KZbin occasionally puts things in front of me that actually are interesting! not sure I could legit go dairy free, full fat milk has been a staple since I was a wee babs, but Vegetarian is looking a lot more likely now than it ever has!, love your videos so keep up the culinary adventures!

Always looking for more cabbage recipes! My fridge is never without saurkraut either. Lol. Although, for me, this recipe would be great with some strips of steak rather than chick peas, and simmered in a red wine and beef broth. Naturally with real butter too. I imagine sausage might be nice too.
