Dear God. That 230sl is sublime. Clever choice to go with the later quality carpet loop.

Sublime and incredible. I have a modern R231 SL550 in same color-trim as that 230, Designo Graphite Metallic with Bengal Red Nappa and dark ash wood trim.

Are you sure the pad in the steering wheel centre could be specified with the same colour as the upholstery? In the W111 series (I had my Dad's old 220 restored to as new many years ago), the ivory coloured steering wheel with a matching ivory coloured pad the car was fitted with, had been specified as an extra from new, I clearly remember that, although a primary schoolboy at the time. The standard black wheel had a black pad.

It's customer preference.

I highly commend you on producing some great work. However the sun visors NEVER match(ed) the interior's colour. This was the case for the 190 SL and the 300 SL but NOT for the W113 pagodas. The original condition for the 230 and early 250 SL (up to VIN 002979) there were only two colours available: grey and ivory (with the exception of very early 230 SL coupes-only; some of them had white sun visors). For all later 250s and 280s there were three colours: grey, ivory and some sort of light tan or so. The correct colour for a red interior is ivory and for a black (or blue) interior, grey sun visors are correct. The horn pad was also not trimmed the interior colour, either black or Ivory.

Thank you for leaving us a nice message about our work and its great to also hear from a very knowledgeable person regarding Mercedes. You are correct that the sunviosrs and the horn pad are not normally trimmed and should be finished as you say. These days though most owners dont use their hardtops and prefer to have sunvsiors trimmed accordingly to their interior retrim. This applies also to the horn push, it is also the customer preference that they do this rather than what is how it left the factory, they dont all do it though
