Great review as usual Randy. I actually purchased the Emotiva T2+ partly based on your review of it and should be receiving them this Tuesday. About the AMT, I owned a pair of ESS AMT 1B back in the 80's and loved that sound for jazz. What would be great for the bookshelf size speakers with AMT is if you could place them horizontally on a shelf with the option to rotate or place the AMT vertically.

Nice review Randy. Very true to my personal experience.These are lovely speakers. I really enjoyed them when I had them. Due to my situation, I liked it more than the 4.2. Real wood! It's an overall quality natural sounding speaker. I was also surprised at how well contained and balanced the top end is. The bottom firing woofer helps placement issues. Bravo to Warfdale. With a sub, they produce a great overall performance and just adds a little bass for dynamics. .

Great review. They are paradoxical, I have thought the same about the 4.3's for months. Not warm like blanket, more comfortable, luxuriant, crisp and natural like silk PJ. The Evo range really does like higher wattage/current output amplifiers. Keep on truckin folks.

I got the 4.1's, oddly, after much deliberation between the 4.2 and 4.3's, and very happy with the decision. They sound very natural sounding, and their three-dimensional presentation feels very organic and 'live'. They definitely excel with music, though doubled up for films/tv, its very interesting being able to hear the shape of a room as people move about and speak whilst indoors... makes me wonder how the evo surround experience would be by comparison

Listening to Randy's great review of the Wharfedales, when suddenly I heard somebody walk across my upstairs floor, which had me looking around and ready to grab a big flashlight/bludgeon or a hand cannon or something, when it occurred to me the sound was from the review (13:24 ~) So now, if you wish to check the realism of your AV receiver and sub, see if you get the same spooky result. Nice job Randy. Wharfedale fan since 1970. They actually built a speaker with sand sandwiched in the cabinet to reduce resonance.

This is my end game speaker!! I started with the B1+, nice but I felt it’s missing body, midrange and treble were too thin. I bought the Elac UB52, which has a much deeper and fuller sound and images to a next level, but always after listening for a while I started to feel fatigue/pain in my ears (I’m listening in a small room). Then I bought the Evo 4.1 and… I’m so very happy, the sound is even better it’s gives you more of the 3D sound, I can really touch the music it has that grip illusion.. Bass is very pleasing, deep tight punchy and quick !! No fatiguing what’s so ever. Thank you CAM!

Randy! I got your message response 2 days after I ordered a set of the wharfedale Diamond 12.2's! I went to KZbin and listened to a very insightful review from Andrew Robinson on the EVO4.1's and then just now finished listening to your review of the them! I called Music Direct to speak with Brian my sales rep. to see if they still had the open box pair of EVO4.1's that were discounted down from $799 to $640 and they did! I will be returning the unopened 12.2's to Music Direct and will be getting the EVO4.1's and purchased the Denon PMA-600ne integrated amp to drive them with! I know that the music streaming quality of the Denon isn't considered to be great but it will get me by till I purchase an upgraded DAC streamer and I don't want to spend over $275! I have read awesome reviews of the "Auris BlueMe HD and the Auris BlueMe Pro" which sell for $119/HD and Pro/$169! The DAC is a high quality and the specs are very good on both of these streamers! Is there another DAC streamer thst falls in the $275 price point that you would recommend to add to the Denon PMA-600ne to improve the overall quality of the streaming to play thru the Wharfedale EVO4.1's? That was a long sentence! 😁😛Randy thank you bigtime for what you do and share with all "us" weekend warrior audiophiles! I have supremely enjoyed watching your reviews on speakers, amps and DAC streamers! You take the art of drinking a cup of coffee to a whole new level! I want to drink coffee but it is instant "Reflux" for me! I will just stick to my "Milo's Sweet tea" as my beverage choice for my caffeine kick! 😉🤙

I watched a few reviews, but based mostly on your review, I purchased a set of these. I got them 20% off retail price because there was a slight flaw in the Veneer, which I can't even see even though I know it is there. I have been really impressed with these speakers. No matter how close to the wall they are, they sound great, likely due to the bottom port. They do need correct toe in though, but other than that, they are really great. It is probably the best implementation of an AMT tweeter I have ever heard. The bass was very impressive with these. The punch harder than the specs would indicate Thank you so much for your help in this.

Great review. I was wondering if these would make a good upgrade from my Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2's? I've no idea what those cost back in 2010 as they were given to me by a friend who worked for Cambridge Audio. They're slight bigger than the EVO 4.1's. They look great and sound OK but they're not super-exciting. I use them with a Marantz PM6005 amp (45W / 8 ohm)

I see what your doing, Randy... Expanding the production value a bit - new lower thirds and close up pans, etc. Very sophisticated feel for such an upper budget product. Very Andrew Robinson, "your mileage may very". I like it for the upper-to just over your budget products. That said, for the more price-to-entry, everyman fair, I still enjoy the quick witted, tongue & cheek, transition while you drink style that I've come to love. All in all, you knock it out of the park with both styles, my friend! Bravo!! Additionally, did you bi-amp these speakers? I'd love to hear your take on that feature when it's an option on a product that offers it. Thanks, Randy!

I love the Wharfedale speakers. Mines are the Wharfedale E 70, nothing compared with the actual ones but I really love it. I'm a cheap audio lover and my rig is a small TEAC Reference 300 & 350 series with 7 units in total and looking for the complete series. I not use nothing than my Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB via phono to the TEAC, and the MD, CD, DVD, Cassette and radio that comes with it. Some times I plug the Hi-MD I have or the PC via Aux and I'm happy. What do you think of this mix? Speakers from 1977, mini Hi-Fi from 1999 and turntable from 2020 without any Hi-Res audio or DAC or whatever todays people are common to use. Thanks, just discover your channel, sub, and all stuff, well done!

I had a set of Wharfedale E70's from new for around 20 years. they were party animals could rock the house. I would go outside and feel the house vibrate In my UK brick built home. and that was driving them with a 50 wpc late 1970's Yamaha receiver, had many a good party with them in my teens, early twenty's. Only let them go when I got into home theatre and wanted all matching speakers. I regret letting them go tbh. they were like old friends. never let me down.

Outstanding review, as always! Does anyone know how these would pair with my Yamaha A-S501 integrated amp? I just got the Klipsch RP600M II and I’m not loving them like I hoped I would. The amp, though, seems great. Now I’m trying to decide between these EVO4.1, Diamond 12.2, and KEF Q350. Whatever I get will be used in a 12x15 bedroom for stereo music and TV sound.

It would be cool to see what you think about the Martin Logan bookshelf models since they also have that type of tweeter. The last generation of this series is on steep discounts regularly. Is that something you would be interested in? Just wondering how all these AMT speakers would compare XD

Marton logan are not considered as good speakers from my experience. Pretty sure they do not let people test their stuff dor that reason. I will never forget the day I had a customer play their Martin logan system for me while working in their home. I was so unimpressed, I went home and played my 80$ pioneer bs22lr to find they sounded better in many ways.

Normally a speaker is dipping down when trying to play lower bass, So because of this I run two SVS PB1000 subs, and use Emotiva BasX amps to drive my speakers as it take that load away from my Denon X6700H. I have a medium sized room and listen at reasonable volumes. for me it's more about the immersion than rare power and volume.

ANSWERS TO MONDAYS QUESTION: Yesterday I asked a what audio company am I question? The company, named after a musical instrument is Cello. A Mark Levinson company. There was a clue about the founders initials being consecutive letters of the alphabet (in this case in reverse). He came out with a series of records for audiophiles with sensational sound in the late 70's. Some or all of them were titled Mark Levinson Presents. Some of them were Dbx encoded for use with Dbx decoders. Probably their best known product was a preamp/ equalizer called the Cello Audio Palette, the equalizer was arguably the most sophisticated quality one ever (including to this day) and didn't degrade the sound like equalizers do. Very costly though. The came out with a moving coil cartridge called the Cello Chorale, which several reviewers thought could be the best cartridge on the market if a few things like tracking could be improved. The clue about it having something in common with Robert Shaw, was that Shaw's group was called the Robert Shaw Chorale & they made records for RCA for many years under that name. Mark Levinson, the man behind the Cello brand was married to well known Hollywood actress Kim Cattrall. QUESTION: What Speaker Am I? I am no longer made. The company that made me is still in business. My designer who was a creative genius, died shortly before I ever made it to the marketplace. I was considered the best speaker of my time by many. I was unique. I command a high price today on the used speaker market. When in production, my retail price went from $900.00 a pair to $3,995.00 a pair within a very short time. The South American engineer who was hired and knew how to build me best, wanted to retire, and his output was sporadic. I took a whole Lot of Watts to really get going. I was perfectly phase coherent, which other speakers weren't. I was one of the most talked about speakers ever. If you walked into an ice cream parlor, you might see something might reminds you of me. When they stopped production of me, my replacement needed badges. I didn't need no stinking badges! I was fatter and most people think I was better than the models that directly followed me. There is a guy who still works with & builds drivers of the kind I used. The abbreviation of his home state begins to spell out my company's name. What speaker am I? If you come up with the answer, best to keep it to yourself, so as not to ruin it for others. This question was brought to you by Bluto Mindpretzel & Sons Co. (not really a subsidiary of Falcon Audio Chicken Hawk).

Oh yes I am also a budget “ audiophile”🤣 I have some Temple Audio mono block amps into Klipsch speakers. These mono blocks are tiny class d for £500 for both and look lovely. Made in UK. All the above are very good speakers so only your personal taste and preference can help you decide which one to buy. I'm also pretty sure that once you purchase one of the above you will end up upgrading the amp as well. It's not that Emotiva is a bad amplifier. It's just that these speakers can benefit from having even better amplification. I can say that from my own experience with Evos 4.4. They sound better and better with every upgrade I make to my hifi setup.

@ezeien9
@ezeien9 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericdaniel323 the midrange is in your face (vocals, acoustics/clean guitar) but it’s pleasant. At no point does the speaker fatigue, they worked the crossovers very well. I will say, that’s what I like though… I wanted to hear those tones come through rather than be buried in the mix. In your face but nowhere is it shouty. The fit and finish + sound quality from the trickle down of the Elysian was a no brainer for me. It’s an amazing pair of speakers and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Order from Crutchfield (walnut about to restock) and if you don’t like them, return them. I think you’ll keep them! But you’ll likely want a sub to cushion the 4.3s 5” woofers. If you can spring it, get the 4.4s as the price different between the two was only $200 a speaker… I would have bought them but they wouldn’t have fit where the speakers are currently sitting.
