This is my end game speaker!! I started with the B1+, nice but I felt it’s missing body, midrange and treble were too thin. I bought the Elac UB52, which has a much deeper and fuller sound and images to a next level, but always after listening for a while I started to feel fatigue/pain in my ears (I’m listening in a small room). Then I bought the Evo 4.1 and… I’m so very happy, the sound is even better it’s gives you more of the 3D sound, I can really touch the music it has that grip illusion.. Bass is very pleasing, deep tight punchy and quick !! No fatiguing what’s so ever. Thank you CAM!

Nice review Randy. Very true to my personal experience.These are lovely speakers. I really enjoyed them when I had them. Due to my situation, I liked it more than the 4.2. Real wood! It's an overall quality natural sounding speaker. I was also surprised at how well contained and balanced the top end is. The bottom firing woofer helps placement issues. Bravo to Warfdale. With a sub, they produce a great overall performance and just adds a little bass for dynamics. .

I got the 4.1's, oddly, after much deliberation between the 4.2 and 4.3's, and very happy with the decision. They sound very natural sounding, and their three-dimensional presentation feels very organic and 'live'. They definitely excel with music, though doubled up for films/tv, its very interesting being able to hear the shape of a room as people move about and speak whilst indoors... makes me wonder how the evo surround experience would be by comparison

I got them 20% off retail price because there was a slight flaw in the Veneer, which I can't even see even though I know it is there. I have been really impressed with these speakers. No matter how close to the wall they are, they sound great, likely due to the bottom port. They do need correct toe in though, but other than that, they are really great. It is probably the best implementation of an AMT tweeter I have ever heard. The bass was very impressive with these. Randy! I got your message response 2 days after I ordered a set of the wharfedale Diamond 12.2's! I went to KZbin and listened to a very insightful review from Andrew Robinson on the EVO4.1's and then just now finished listening to your review of the them! I called Music Direct to speak with Brian my sales rep. to see if they still had the open box pair of EVO4.1's that were discounted down from $799 to $640 and they did! I will be returning the unopened 12.2's to Music Direct and will be getting the EVO4.1's and purchased the Denon PMA-600ne integrated amp to drive them with! I know that the music streaming quality of the Denon isn't considered to be great but it will get me by till I purchase an upgraded DAC streamer and I don't want to spend over $275! I have read awesome reviews of the "Auris BlueMe HD and the Auris BlueMe Pro" which sell for $119/HD and Pro/$169! The DAC is a high quality and the specs are very good on both of these streamers! Is there another DAC streamer thst falls in the $275 price point that you would recommend to add to the Denon PMA-600ne to improve the overall quality of the streaming to play thru the Wharfedale EVO4.1's? That was a long sentence! 😁😛Randy thank you bigtime for what you do and share with all "us" weekend warrior audiophiles! ANSWERS TO MONDAYS QUESTION: Yesterday I asked a what audio company am I question? The company, named after a musical instrument is Cello. A Mark Levinson company. There was a clue about the founders initials being consecutive letters of the alphabet (in this case in reverse). He came out with a series of records for audiophiles with sensational sound in the late 70's. Some or all of them were titled Mark Levinson Presents. Some of them were Dbx encoded for use with Dbx decoders. Probably their best known product was a preamp/ equalizer called the Cello Audio Palette, the equalizer was arguably the most sophisticated quality one ever (including to this day) and didn't degrade the sound like equalizers do. Very costly though. The came out with a moving coil cartridge called the Cello Chorale, which several reviewers thought could be the best cartridge on the market if a few things like tracking could be improved. The clue about it having something in common with Robert Shaw, was that Shaw's group was called the Robert Shaw Chorale & they made records for RCA for many years under that name. Mark Levinson, the man behind the Cello brand was married to well known Hollywood actress Kim Cattrall. QUESTION: What Speaker Am I? I am no longer made. The company that made me is still in business. My designer who was a creative genius, died shortly before I ever made it to the marketplace. I was considered the best speaker of my time by many. I was unique. I command a high price today on the used speaker market. When in production, my retail price went from $900.00 a pair to $3,995.00 a pair within a very short time. The South American engineer who was hired and knew how to build me best, wanted to retire, and his output was sporadic. I took a whole Lot of Watts to really get going. I was perfectly phase coherent, which other speakers weren't. I was one of the most talked about speakers ever. If you walked into an ice cream parlor, you might see something might reminds you of me. When they stopped production of me, my replacement needed badges. I didn't need no stinking badges! I was fatter and most people think I was better than the models that directly followed me. There is a guy who still works with & builds drivers of the kind I used. The abbreviation of his home state begins to spell out my company's name. What speaker am I? If you come up with the answer, best to keep it to yourself, so as not to ruin it for others. This question was brought to you by Bluto Mindpretzel & Sons Co. (not really a subsidiary of Falcon Audio Chicken Hawk).

What to buy for the Emotiva BasX A2 amplifier ? : 1)B&W 603 2)Monitor Audio Silver 300 3)Dali Opticon 6 Mk2 4)Wharfedale EVO 4.4
@alekrychwalski3 жыл бұрын
All the above are very good speakers so only your personal taste and preference can help you decide which one to buy. I'm also pretty sure that once you purchase one of the above you will end up upgrading the amp as well. It's not that Emotiva is a bad amplifier. It's just that these speakers can benefit from having even better amplification. I can say that from my own experience with Evos 4.4. They sound better and better with every upgrade I make to my hifi setup.

ANSWER: Yesterday I threw a question out there. What single album title throughout the years was used by 12 different music artists. An album title used by that many people must be a record. Unless there is a title used by more than that number. I doubt it. The album title is STRAIGHT AHEAD. Jazz great Oliver Nelson released an album of that title, as did Count Basie, Stix Hooper, Stanley Turrentine. Eddie "Lockjaw Davis, Brian Auger, The Mills Brothers and Jazz vocalist Abbey Lincoln also. So did Pennywise, Monty Alexander, Larry Gatlin and Amy Grant. There were even some lesser known artists that used that exact same title for an album of theirs that I didn't include. Also there is a Big Band Jazz group by the name Straight Ahead. How about an easier one, that isn't exactly easy? Name an album title that was used by 3 different artists? Same ground rules as what I said yesterday; nothing tricky involved. QUESTION 2: Name this past or present audio manufacturer: Their products were used extensively by our government as well as audiophiles. The company started around 1980. They were a U.S. company but their products were popular across the globe also, marketed under a different company name that when verbalized, sounds like something we all have within our bodies. The third down model, from the top of their line model, was predominantly orange, (you don't see orange often in an audio product). They had sewn on shirt patches that their employees wore that said "I am a MF er". It was not Musical Fidelity or Mobile Fidelity; in fact the companies name did not have either the letter M or F in it. The MF in this case did not stand for a swear word. But shock value was intended by whoever had the idea for the employee worn patches with that on it. They made very good product and were reviewed favorably by Stereophile and others. What was the company?

I'm interested in the 4.3 myself! I've read that the midrange is a little in-your-face, but the same person said they were nicely balanced... Would you mind saying a little more about what you think of them?
@ezeien93 жыл бұрын
@@ericdaniel323 the midrange is in your face (vocals, acoustics/clean guitar) but it’s pleasant. At no point does the speaker fatigue, they worked the crossovers very well. I will say, that’s what I like though… I wanted to hear those tones come through rather than be buried in the mix. In your face but nowhere is it shouty. The fit and finish + sound quality from the trickle down of the Elysian was a no brainer for me. It’s an amazing pair of speakers and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Order from Crutchfield (walnut about to restock) and if you don’t like them, return them. I think you’ll keep them! But you’ll likely want a sub to cushion the 4.3s 5” woofers. If you can spring it, get the 4.4s as the price different between the two was only $200 a speaker… I would have bought them but they wouldn’t have fit where the speakers are currently sitting.

ANSWERS TO SUNDAYS QUESTIONS: A single album title that was used by three different artists is.......... "Friends". The Beach Boys came out with an album called Friends, as did Jazz piano great Chick Corea. One of the best & most innovative jazz pianists of all time. Before his solo career he was the leader of the jazz fusion Supergroup, Return To Forever. Before that he played on records and in concert with some very select company, including Miles Davis. You had to be good, real good to play with Miles. Speaking of Miles Davis, Larry Carlton also came out with an album called Friends. His best solo live album had an excellent interesting version of the song "So What" which was the first track on the Miles Davis Kind Of Blue album. Of course Larry Carlton was perhaps better known as the guitarist for the Jazz group, The Crusaders. They have about as long a discography as anyone you can think of. And their albums were consistently good. The Company that I was looking for in Question 2 is..... Astatic. Known for their excellent phono cartridges back in the 1980's, they were used by The Library Of Congress, which has more records and books than just about anybody. Millions! If you plan to stop in now, you have to tell them in advance and they digitize the music you want to hear so you can listen to it. Their cartridges were popular in Europe too, especially England, and there, they went under the name of Glanz cartridges. Glanz verbalized sounds like glands that we all have in our bodies. The third cartridge from the top was an orange colored cartridge called the MF 300. MF stood for Moving Flux, which their cartridges used to generate output. They were high output cartridges said to offer moving coil cartridge performance but with moving magnet output. I've owned them and I couldn't tell any difference between moving magnet and moving flux. They didn't sound moving coil to me, but did sound like a very good moving magnet cartridge. On the brighter side; slightly. For shock value or something they suggested their employees wear shirt patches saying that I am a MF er, standing for the "Moving Flux" principe, which their cartridges operated on. QIESTION: NAME THIS AUDIO COMPANY. I am an audio company named after a musical instrument. My founder was a well known person in audio whose electronics beared his name. His first and last name initials are consecutive letters of the alphabet. He also recorded a series of audiophile Lp's that are now rare and highly regarded. One of the pioneers of high end audio, he was married to a well known Hollywood actress, who most people would know. Maybe my best known product involved contouring the sound. I also came out with a phono cartridge, that many thought would have been the best cartridge on the market, if only it tracked a little better in complex passages. The cartridge had something in common with the old RCA recording artist and then symphony conductor Robert Shaw, who for years conducted the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. My founder was involved in a much publicized and written about event in a hotel room involving Bob Carver; owner and designer of his own company which also beared his name.. Which company am I ? I thought up lots of these.
