Title: “A-part”
Choreographer/Dancer: Bethany Philipp
Music: “As If It Would have a Universal and Memorable Ending" by Shane Carruth
Artist Statement: "A-part” is a solo screen dance inspired by the early weeks of the pandemic. Choreographer and performer Bethany Philipp uses imagery of a shrinking world and nascent digital demands to explore feelings of helplessness, fear, and frustration. Accompanied by Shane Carruth's “As If It Would Have a Universal and Memorable Ending,” A-part surrenders to the unknown and grieves the loss of light and spirit, yet it implores us to keep moving, even if we don't know what is next.
