It's funny how some people call her evil, when all she's doing is looking people in the eye and sitting in a chair and letting other people do what they want with her body. @Pedro Vaz, it can be quite discouraging to read all the comments under this video … It’s as if most of the commenters here didn’t even make the effort to actually, truly listen to her talk, her description of the performance in the 1970’s. Her act was purely to reflect the visitors’ inner capacity to choose good or evil. In reality. In action. When given permission to do whatever you want, what will you choose? Apparently, quite a lot of people choose to harm, to hurt. But not all of the people. And the commenters here seem to be under some kind of delusion, they simply don’t want to listen to her actual words. Conviction can b such a good thing. I just finished reading Marina's autobiography, and I can't stop admire of her braveness, the ability to accept and overcome the pain and the power of her performances at all. This TED could be better, but there is no way to explain all these things in 15 minutes. It could be better to visit her performances or watch some lections. she's literally displaying everything, she's trusting in her viewers and she gives a clear message of human vulnerability and she even said herself that her art, her ways are to do things that she herself is afraid of for the performance. she isn't satanic or evil, she's afraid of the outcome of what she does, and that's what invokes a psychological response. we're exposed to human vulnerability and fear, someone who isn't wearing a mask of fake bravery, and our first instinct is to call it disgusting, satanic, crude and harmful. though we may be frightened of her style of performance art because it's surreal, we'd look at the same thing and call it beautiful and meaningful if it were a painting. marina is not a satanist, she is an expressionist who uses her body as an example of her creativity, of the mental struggle people like her go through, and she invokes emotional responses in people through it. calling someone a satanist and a witch for their art forms is just downright disrespectful

She is the embodiment of human drive. Shes the question we ask ourselves when were our lowest. The thoughts we ignore and try to supress. Marina is the truth of human expression. Its dark its complicated it can result in fights but it can also be beautiful and fun. We have lost that in ourselves and become negative to eachother. That sense of human connection and trust is wavering. She chose to do the preformance to trust in herself that people are still good. I think her being alive was from the the faith she had honestly.
