I'm 24 years old now and have had chronic sinusitis since the age of 8. I missed a lot of school days, got scolded by teachers for 'staying home too easily' and not just 'sucking it up'. One of my teachers scolded me in private, after I had to stay home for two weeks because I had to have emergency sinus surgery. The doctors told me I most likely would have gotten meningitis if I had waited any longer. I thought things would get better over time, but they didnt. I am fatigued 24/7, got a stuffed nose and post nasal drip all the time and lingering sinus pain. I don't know why this isn't talked about more- but I really feel like sinusitis effects all aspects of your life. I don't feel like anybody truly understands, only those who experience it themselves.

If anyone here deals with anxiety from this issue then I can assure you recovery is possible! And I know this because I am currently dealing with sinusitis and anxiety from bad sinuses issues from deviated septum and swollen cavities. I recently started getting anxiety and panic attacks which have caused my life to turn into a dream like hyper awareness state. However I have been trying to clean my sinuses and relieve some pressure and everytime I do it I feel like a new person and close to normal again. So this tells me my brain is just battling/fighting through this sinus pressure/issues causing this brain fog and I just need to get it treated (hopefully surgery) to relieve it! Hope this makes people feel better!

I have total sympathy for myself and empathy for you. The best treat ment is sinus rinse , best antibiotic leflox courses, nsaids, nasal steroid, xylometazoline 3 days, anti allergics, wearing face mask, preventing flu attacks and other diseases, and slowly gradullay reducing the disease. immunity boosting with exercise and diet... room cleaning... and helping others and getting it from family and friends.. and also prayer supplication asking help from GOD and with the belief that God will compensate it in the end with something else... i think it is worse than misery from moderate cancer...But bravely facing it.. The physical, mental, spiritual transformation by this experince will be great....

I’ve had two sinus surgeries as a result of two bouts of chronic sinusitis. I’ve been suffering a sinus infection that won’t respond to home remedies and antibiotics. I had allergy testing yesterday for which the results were the same last year - moderate positive to dust mites. I am seeing an ENT next Friday who hopefully will determine next steps via nasal endoscopy, culture, and maybe even CT scan.

I've had 2 surgeries, 3 months apart and I'm 24😪🤧Constant Headaches and Fatigue! I don't want to deal with this my whole life. I've done allergy shots and cut all inflammatory foods. Cut most sugar intake including carbs most of the time. I've dropped 30 lbs but the headaches I get everyday and if I don't take Tylenol the turn into migrains and nothing works except a nap. I've started cycling my shower from hot to cold intervals and it expels mucus and saline rinses to avoid having my symptoms enabling me to breath through my nose again. My ENT said it was the worst record for him pulling what was like rubber out of my face. I even have a picture and it is horrendous. 😪 Looking for new life style changes to help with this. Considering candida could be playing a roll and might try a clense. Allergy meds no longer work even when changing them up.

I've been having this for 8+ years. I've gotten misdiagnosed with deviated septum. I have to abuse steam and anti histamines for relief. If my pnd gets too thick it feels like I'm drowning and constantly have to swallow, this can cause panic attacks which have happened a lot in the past. I'm usually fatigued and can't do much during the day. There's brief periods of time I don't get these problems if I'm lucky. This has ruined my quality of life and eating away my years and don't know what to do..

I started having congestion issues in 2016. I went to the ER & was told that I had a sinus infection. I was given antibiotics & told to take an antihistamine every day. So, that’s what I’ve been doing all these years. Well, this year has been the absolute worse. So, I got the flu back in November of 2022. I was very congested & decided to use a nasal rinse to help flush out the mucus in my nose. Well, as I was doing the nasal rinse, my left ear got clogged. It was clogged for about 2 days before I went to my local Walgreens & bought some ear drops to try & help unclog my ear. Well, a few days later, (after using the ear drops) I was in the kitchen cooking & I started to feel woozy/lightheaded. I finished cooking, ate & laid down but I didn’t feel any better. I went back to work that Monday & felt woozy/lightheaded still. So, I left work & went to the ER. I was told at the ER that my left ear was impacted with wax & I was dehydrated. So, I ended up getting my left ear irrigated. I could still feel some water in my ear after the irrigation & that water never went anywhere. I would constantly feel water moving around in my ears from one ear to another. So, I went & saw my PCP bc now, my balance was off. Saw my PCP & it was determined that I had an ear infection. I was given antibiotics for the ear infection. I followed up with my PCP 2 weeks later & the ear infection was gone but there was still fluid in my ears. So, I was referred to an ENT Specialist. Saw the ENT Specialist & she said that my ears looked good but that my nasal passages was inflamed which has most likely caused my eustachian tubes to become swollen. And when your Eustachian tubes become swollen, they do not open & close like they should, causing fluid to become trapped behind the ear. So, she prescribed me Prednisone (steroids) to help with the inflammation. Well, I was only able to take the steroids for 6 days before stopping bc I felt TERRIBLE after taking them. So, I kept complaining about the fluid I would feel in my ears, the dizziness, imbalance & just how terrible I felt. She then did a Nasal Endoscopy to check for sinus disease & said she didn’t see any signs of sinus disease & told me to take an antihistamine & use nasal spray to help with the eustachian tube swelling. I was using both Fluticasone & Azelastine twice a day (which she told me to use). I kept complaining about how it felt like I had a sinus infection. Well, I ended up catching COVID after all of this. I ended up going to the ER bc the headaches had gotten so bad. The hospital did a CT Head & it was determined that I did have a sinus infection. Followed up with my ENT Specialist, who then ordered me to have a CT Sinus done & NOW I HAVE CHRONIC SINUSITIS 😔 I’ve been taking an antihistamine. Now, my nostrils are extremely dry. I literally used a whole can of Saline Nasal Spray yesterday. Like, what can I do to decrease the nasal inflammation & help with the dry nostrils? I’ve used petroleum jelly, neilmed nasogel & matys simply breathe nasal ointment. Nothing has helped.

No problem brother always ready to help.... First of all you must differenciate if its acute , or chronic...... Acute resolves in 2 weeks....chronic lasts for a long long time..... so this treatment is for chronic first of all u do an x ray PNS...paranasal sinus....ENT doctors recommend CT scan....x ray gives of an idea as to what sinuses are involved.... Than you do a nose culture to find out if its bacterial or fungal....This tells u what micro organisms are involved... if its because of allergy by dust, pollen, pollutents u do an allergy test to find out IgE... or skin prick test...Than get vaccinated... Untreated chronic sinusitis for a long time has its complications like orbital cellulitis, nasal polyps, cavernous sinus thrombus etc... The surgical treatment is FESS a part of it is baloon sinuplasty.... My doctors just wouldnt do baloon sinuplasty ...and multiple doctors kept me on medical treatment.... first understand the signs/symptoms of chronic sinusitis : sneezing, post nasal drip, sleep apneoa, depression, vertigo, ear infections, pressure in head, myelitis , shortness of breath...etc... in my case panic attacks in sleep due to sleep apnea..... Treatment for chronic sinusitis is : first its a marathon not a race First you slowly decrease the disease frequency... Start by steam inhalation twice daily Than either make a bicarbonate and salt solution in water at home and use it with a 10 cc syringe or buy the same thing marketed as various products sold by various names...For mild wash you can buy a normal saline at local pharmacy but for hard you either buy or make it at home... use xylometaxoline nasal drops thrice daily sold by various names...but not more than 3 days ...its causes reversible congestion called rhinitis medicamentosa... use fluticasone steroid drops at night or betnisol nasal drops... for me best Antibiotics were augmentin 625 mg BD 7 days... clarithromycon 500 mg bd ...but best of the best was leflox 500 mg ...Bd.... with augmentin drink lots of water...with leflox use tablet of B vitamins .... you will also be using ....a mucolator sache in water called (acetyl cystine) ..... once or twice daily.... pain killer NSAID twice daily with food...also an antihistamine tablet once or twice daily.... Myetika ( montelukast sodium) one tablet in the evening...Vit C and vit E to build immunity ... To prevent sleep apnea at night a nose opener is sold at pharmacy ...or u can just make it yourself with a plastic wire, To prevent sleep apnea or airway obstruction at night for people with double chin, short neck, obesity being fat, or being extremly tired ...The neck muscles relax tongue falls back and with post nasal drip have sleep apnea.... clean your room from dust, Air conditioning is one cause, wear a face mask.... Rinse nose with mild hot water 3 to 4 times daily...a technique muslims use during abulation before prayer....good diet and mild exercise to increase immunity...prevent chest infections for they reach the sinus quickly...dental hygine is a must....The last rx an ENT consultant would prescribe before surgery is to use oral steroids....so you will be using the above treat ment combinations periodically.... antibiotics / rinse/xylometazoline/fluticasone/NSAIDS/steam/ antihistamine or myetika... Good luck...

I have been dealing with chronic sinusitis since my mid-twenties. My left nostril is deviated. I did have surgery and sinus scrapping in 2015, and it did not correct the problem at all. In fact a CT scan show that my nose was still deviated and this year I have had a sinus infection the entire year with four rounds of antibiotics and the relief. I suffer from depression and anxiety. I feel hopeless. I have no energy, fatigued and feel heavy in my head all of the time! I just feel hopeless. I do not want to have surgery again, it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had and that includes giving birth to children. I have a CT scan scheduled next week I'm not hopeful for any outcome other than my ENT saying I need to have another surgery. It seems that the deviated septum runs in my family with my dad, brother, myself and my middle son all having deviated septums. They say that's not possible, it's not genetic. How could we all have deviated septums? I'm exhausted! I've read a lot of your comments and it makes me feel not so alone. Thank you for sharing!

This helped a lot but I still found myself breathing through my mouth half the day. at 23 I finally met with a doctor who prescribed me flonase which initiated a night and day differnece in my breathing. Only problem is that I have been having side effects from the flonase after taking it for about 3 months straight. Any natural remedies that anybody has found?

Ive had swelling in my nose bc of a broke nose that never got fixed. Ive had surgery and a week later i got into a fight. Well the sinus spray does work miracles it is addictive. This is year 4 ive been on it. I quit it on feb 25 2019 and by the time may hit it was migraine like headaches all day all week all the time. Gabapentin did nothing cept make me sleep. But still id wake with the same horrible headache. Fiorinal did work but not at that expence. Got codine in it an i aint becoming a meth addict. The swelling in my nose ive been dealing with for 10 years now and the bad bad headaches sent me to the er 15 times in 10 days. Their headache cure in benadryl with compazine and that was working. Nsaids acetaminophen all that eventually ur body gets used to it. Like i said ima nasal spray addict. By choice tho, until surgery. The nasal spray opens me up allowing pressure relief and that normally kills the headache in half but still its there. I mean the worse kinda pain ever. I cant use my left eye sound hurts like hell and light will fuck me up. Worse possible pain ever. Id rather die. But owell. I quit the spray and was on about 6 different pills to kill headaches but that was treating pain NOT the cause. The cause is my nose because when i force my nose open with spray the pain will only get to abt 8. About the same as a baseball bat to ur ribs. I use the one that starts with oxymetlcozin or sum shit. But thats again swelling in the nose by being broke. Cant wait till surgery

I find putting a pin into my skin helps me get used to the pain and enjoy pain, since if been suffering for 7yrs I might as well find a way to enjoy pain rather than suffer every second of every day.

Having sinusitis bout for 4 months now.. antibiotics help but then it comes back the infection. I also have psoriasis so most docs tell me surgery wont help. Yes prophylaxis is best way to control sinusitis. Currently losing some smell and brain fog sucks. Nasal cortico sprays also contribute to brain fog. This disease sucks life out of you.. May no one suffer from it
