To me, what comes up when I hear this song is the scales of Ma'at. After death, the heart is weighed alongside the feather to see if you are light enough to continue on. May they all be feathers

slightly inaccurate, though. ma'at''s feather was from an ostrich, which tends to weigh more than a heart. we must have a heavy heart to balance the scale.

This song is exactly what I need to heal my soul. It's about deeper understanding of one's self, it's about evolving. It's about finally finding meaning in your life, not driven by hate but just pure compassion. For your own self and for others. Stunning. It's pure poetry, no one can ever change my mind. This song has kept me afloat so many times, and now it's saving me.

I think it means that pain and trauma are the origin of many of our self-defense mechanisms. "Putting up walls" as it's usually said. However, ultimately that pain and trauma becomes a very heavy burden to carry throughout life. So, instead of turning our pain and trauma into a heavy stone wall, we should turn them into feathers, to wear everyday and show that they are a part of us, but light and not weighing us down.

Many people complain about their "new" style... I think, APC, Puscifer, Tool and Maynards works in general is a art-full symphony of morals and feelings. And that's exactly the reason why the new album is special just like the others before, as putten in their timeline! Eat The Elephant fits so well to our spirit of the age. At this point: Thank you James and crew for another grand masterpiece!

It's an evolution of music. Maynard isn't gonna whine about shit in his 50's. I'll admit, when I heard "The Doomed" for the first time I was like "What is this?" Then I heard it in context of the full album and I love it. This album is as close to perfect as you're gonna get these days.

This song is the understanding of our wrongs. Almost an instructional sequel to John Lennon's imagine. Fo real.

Szkoda że na następne wydawnictwo tego genialnego zespołu zwykle trzeba czekać tak długo. Eat the Elephant przebija Mer de Noms. Najlepsza najbardziej dojrzała płyta. Skomponowana perfekcyjnie i z duszą.

Wow, I’m surprised there are so many hate comments about this song and album. Im charmed, and this one is definitely one of my favorite from this album. I don’t find this album any worse than the others, imo its something fresh and beautiful, wherever Maynard is, he is turning this place in gold. Sorry to disappointed fans, I’m in love. Like really in love with this album and Maynard.

I'm so happy I got to see them last week! I've been fortunate enough to experience them live after every studio album release thus far (including the very night Mer de Noms was released, opening for Nine Inch Nails). This album was a long time coming, and totally worth the wait. I can safely say that A Perfect Circle is unquestionably one of my favorite bands of all time. Thank you, Maynard James Keenan, for being an inspiration to us all, and defining what music should be for my entire generation.
