A Perfect MWS MK18 GBBR: Key Components & Tips

Some points I forgot to mention: 1: Non-TM rails will not fit on a TM MWS standard outer barrel unless you have an adapter for them. Any brand will be fine as long as it's not PTS. This has been covered in the previous video about the Block 2/Urgi platforms but it's worth mentioning here as well. 2: Fitting a real RIS2 as I've done here requires either rethreading your upper receiver or using an AEG nut from an aliexpress RIS2. Each AEG nut has different specs so you will need to either be lucky or have a lot of different aliexpress brands to choose from. 3: The rear CQD sling mount will dig into your chest if you have it fitted and use the stock as a rear sling point instead. This is not ideal as it will quickly remove skin in a couple hours if you don't have a chest rig/plate carrier, and will scratch up your magazines and snag the charging handle if you do have a chest rig or plate carrier. I do not fit the CQD rear sling mount unless I am using it, and this is why.

Amazing video, really like the long format and the vibes. I'd hazard a guess these type of videos take a lot of time and effort, but I'd be happy to see more of them! Watched all of your longer videos from start to finish and liked every second of them.

This format is actually a bit easier than the hyper compressed M110 video where all the speech has to be perfect and there has to be an appropriate clip for every second, so I'm intending to stick with this format going forward. I don't think it will mean I upload any more frequently, because the bottleneck is just time to build up experience and save up for the builds I enjoy, but it will mean that future long form content will most likely be in this more relaxed style. dude, this thing is savage!!! I just started switching out my aeg's for gbbr's and a mk18 is DEFINATELY going to be my 4th purchase. I got a VFC ump and just bought a noveske to get familiar with m4 based gbbr's next is mp7 then mk18. I will probably be going VFC because shipping from Asia to the states is so expensive and TM's are DEFINATELY not easily found in the eastern U.S.. this gbbr you have is extremely spot on and accurate, outstanding build!!!

From my impression's of MWS system. All guns i had to test (TM,DE and Cyma) have 1 thing same, recoil. Even you can put steel bolt carrier to CGS, recoil is the same. Better get some other platform like VFC or GHK v3's both, with much better magazines than Marui had.

That's true, with GBBR's you can have any 2 of the following: Recoil, Weight, Efficiency. With the MWS, it makes that trade of recoil for efficiency. That being said, switching out to a heavier buffer does reverse this change (if your steel bolt didn't change the feel then there was probably an issue) There is also the general upward trend of reducing wastage through precision in sealing. Vipertech is said to lead the way here in the AR15 platform, but VFC's recent models have shown a really promising increase in this area (except their licensed models with the spring issues). If they do a V4 AR15 it would hopefully factor in these improvements (the V3's do not) and it would be a big step forward, most likely putting them ahead of the MWS in that space.

For the surefires, the newer turbo line are decent but a bit pricier. But that was surefire finally updating after waiting years content on their older rep and the market overtaking them on tech.

Worth a thought for sure, unfortunately they don't really sit in the same price point here in the UK, a used surefire is often cheaper than a new streamlight

Thanks! AliExpress rails are passable, maddog rails are the same thing but more expensive, madbull I'm not sure about, genuine are great obviously but require the usual adapter (I forgot to mention this is the video) as well as rethreading the upper receiver or using an aeg barrel nut

Thought it was down to the length, block 2 uses the DD rail on a 14.5” barrel. The mk18 is on a 10.3” on the mod 0 or 10.5” on the mod 1 with the DD rail.

No, there are instances where the MK name will go into army inventory (MK19 for example) but MK18 is not one of them. For further information from first hand sources I'd recommend looking for combat diver and Jeff Gurwitch

Thanks! I don't bother with lens protectors, they cloud the view so badly that it's not worth using a scope in the first place. Most of my sights have been shot in the glass during gameplay by this point, but short range shooting is pretty uncommon so I haven't had any breakages yet

Thanks, the exact colours are a basecoat of mud brown and brown uniform (brown uniform is kinda olive) and then I got a leftover piece of garden netting and sprayed some texture in for contrast in 'olive drap', mud brown, brown uniform, and a couple of light spots of flat black through the net as well
