Today Winston met a Rottweiler, and they played for a little while, but eventually Winston got tired of playing and tried to communicate "no" and that he was done playing. The Rott did not get the message and continued trying to play. Winston got increasingly stern with the Rott, by barking, swatting, lunging and snapping at him. I tried to get Winston's attention and walk away, but as we were walking away, the Rott kept running up and provoking Winston. Eventually, the Rott's owner put him on a leash and left.

Heather Hines no the Rottweiler is trying to show dominance however the cane corso mix owner did a good job not interfering as he can learn to keep his ground. The Cane corso owner knew it was not going to escalate and when it almost did he stopped his dog even it if it want his fault which u gotta do sometimes cause other owners suck. The Rottweiler is uncontrolled and at that young of an age he’s for sure gonna be some trouble . But big ups for the cane corso owner for not interfering in dogs doing dog things.

Right. Rotties aren't considered full grown until AT LEAST the age of 2. That means he's just hitting adulthood about now! He may just be one of those high energy guys too. Male Rotties are ALWAYS fun at the dog park; never seen one yet that didn't play "COP" with all the other dogs. Always in charge and monitoring. Always sizing up and testing.

There’s zero aggression from the Rottie, he simply very excited and wants to play. To be honest this was play but not fully. That Rott didn't mean any harm, but he was way too persistent and it annoyed Winston clearly. He was putting up boundaries between the two obviously. It is weird to see so many people saying their just "playing" this level of excitement from any dog is NOT always good! It can create fight, luckily Winston is well trained into staying calm and keeping his composure. Even the other small dog had to quickly step in for Winston...the signs are pretty clear.
@saturnstar5603
@saturnstar5603 4 жыл бұрын
What a good pup! You can see Winston creating a barrier between the rottweiler and Nevaeh by repeatedly pushing himself inbetween the two whenever to rott looks like he's about to mount her. The rottweiler doesn't seem like a 'bad' dog. He's just very excited, but that high level of energy tends to lead to fights. Even the small beige dog was trying to correct it a bit. He also doesn't seem to understand boundaries despite Winston repeatedly setting them and attempting to correct the dog's behavior. I hope the owner took note of all this. Either he needs to work on teaching his dog boundaries or he needs to realize his rottweiler might not be a dog park dog. Not all dogs are dog park dogs, and aggression is not always the reason behind it. Beautiful dog though. Great structure, fluid gait. I hope he chills out with age and training.

What in the world were you watching. This was a simple display of dominance. The can/pit felt threatened by the obviously more powerful/alpha rottie and wanted the female all for himself which is why he can be seen biting her in the neck. The dogs were playing and indirectly setting a hierarchy amongst each other.
@saturnstar5603
@saturnstar5603 4 жыл бұрын
@@dallasisbetter3241 Okay?? Yes there was dominance involved. That's the whole reason the rottweiler kept jumping at and trying to mount Winston. That's not to say everything I mentioned above did not happen. Winston did create barriers between the rottweiler and other dogs (especially Nevaeh because he wouldn't stop trying to mount her and Nevaeh is his girl). He did try and correct the other dog's behavior. I wouldn't describe the rottweiler as an alpha or more powerful though. Just an extremely excited dog that doesn't know how to control himself or take a hint. I wouldn't call Winston dragging Nevaeh around as claiming her either. They do that to each other all the time. I'm pretty sure that's just how they play.
@stevencorwin2313

The Rottweiler isn't a problem. It's only playing.
@saturnstar5603
@saturnstar5603 4 жыл бұрын
@@stevencorwin2313 So I had this whole comment type out explaining how this is actually an old account of mine and how I didn't remember how the video went and just explaining things using my original comment but I decided to just rewatch the video in the end. It's been, what? 9 months? I might see some things differently now. I do think the rottweiler is trying to dominate Winston. He gets stiff faced and tries to put his head over Winston's shoulder a couple times video. Even if he does a play bow before he tries that doesn't negate the fact that he is trying to dominate. Winston keep barking, chasing, and swatting him away because he doesn't want to be dominated. This dog is also trying to mount Nevaeh despite being told off by it. Winston repeatedly makes barriers between his owner and Nevaeh (and that smaller dog that one time) because this rottweiler won't take a hint. I'm not sure I would call that play because attempting to dominate is not play. Especially because he keeps coming back for Winston specifically despite being told off. Now is the rottweiler a problem? No. Not even in my original comment did I say the rottweiler was a problem. But for a dog his size and strength? He needs to be worked with. He needs to get his dominance (edit: and energy) under control. Imagine if he had taken that half play half domination behavior to a dog that was less patient and more likely to use their teeth instead of their paws. You'd have a dog fight. Imagine if a similar-sized dog tried to dominate this rottweiler back. You might have a dog fight. Again, I'm not saying the rottweiler is a bad dog. He just needs his behavior and energy checked and he needs to learn to use play for play and not as a gateway to dominate. Edit: Went back and rewatched. He does seem to want to play but that still doesn't erase his other behavior you know? Getting his energy down might solve that weird 'I want to play but I also want to dominate' thing he's got going. Still. Not a bad dog. Not a problem. Just needs some working with.

Yeah. No mistreating here. All dogs very obviously well taken care of and treated properly. All happy dogs. Just wrasslin a little. Like the fact that owners were letting dogs be dogs. There was no aggression. The older corso\pit was teaching the younger rotti that play is good but learn the boundaries. My dogs and my brother's and friend's dog would always play fight. Loved to watch it. Somtimes equal dogs would escalate a little but they were just being competitive. We would stop them at first if we thought it was getting out of hand, but we found out later that it really wasn't. We let them go once to see if they would go to far and they absolutely did not. Someone walking in on the scene would have thought they were actually fighting but in six years not a single drop of blood was shed. They were a group of rowdy pals that i think looked forward to getting together as much as we did. Man i really miss them all. Nice video. Thank you.

You grabbed her so fast she couldn’t react.😂 Winston was so patient with that young Rottie too, the signs were so clear but the boy kept pushing his limits. Sad he had to be completely removed, but I’m glad it didn’t escalate. As always, thanks for your videos. They’re always great!

I have owned 2 Cane Corso's and I found a book of rare breeds on CC and is defianately said they WILL NOT BACK DOWN IF ANOTHER DOG WANTS TO FIGHT. Knowing this helped me understand my dogs. This ended well but you need to be aware. Thanks for posting, love your dog

Aww. They are all beautiful. It was cute when Winston talked back to you...that Chewbacca sound lol. The rottie was just a young buck & wanted to play...I have a 13 yr old German Rottweiler thst does the same thing- that downward dog pose. He loves the dog park! He's about the same size- always been around 90 lbs of solid muscle & has always had food in his bowl, but I'm also very active with him- running, swimming, etc. He's starting to sleep a lot more now, but he still has those couple hours in a day where he acts like he's 3 instead of 13. Beautiful dogs you have.

Naaah she escalates it that's why he grabbed her at the start. From what I've seen on this channel, he is always stopping her every time Winston play fights with another dog. Those huskies are just trouble 😂

That's a happy boy right there. Not agressive in the slightest, just a lil too hyper for old man WInston. He's a very good boy too, immediately leaves the rottie alone when you call him.

Poor Winston just wanted to play until Nevaeh decided to enter the fray. Winston loves her and wants to protect her and play with the Rottweiler too . That Rottweiler tested Winston but peace prevailed in the kingdom of the back scratching grass.
