I have once played a dwarf, whose uncle swore an oath to his brother to protect and care for his young children. Then in stupid drunken brawl the uncle accidentaly killed his brother. Ashamed the uncle swore a Slayer Oath. My character resented him as a coward who escaped previous oath. According to my dwarf, the uncle should've taken care of him and first and then after becoming adult the uncle can go and become a Slayer. During playing, I've twiced saved my uncle and told him I will personally deny him glorous death until he will fulfil his previous oath, which he can no longer do, as I'm grown up. Not sure how it matches the dwarf psyche, but I've had so much fun playing that story.

Reminds me of how Garagrim became a slayer despite the fact that he is Ungrim's only son. He may have done it to save his father from his oath as a slayer, but it's clear he never thought of the ramifications of what would happen when Ungrim's only heir were to go off and die as a slayer.

A cool idea for why Bugmans brew is still produced is that Bugman, travelling around with his rangers, will settle in a secret location for awhile, to only make a single batch of brew, before moving on, to prevent his brewery being burnt down again. Also gives a mysterious element to how the brew is left somewhere. Could be after a battle whilst the other dwarfs recover, Bugman takes his payment and leaves the brew as compensation without asking the dwarfs

You know, these streams are why i love lorebeards. Being raised with warhammer, i have been aware of bugman for my entire life but you guys give me a whole new understanding and appreciation for him. Edit: about runes working on flesh - it might be worth pointing out that fyreslayers in aos work with a very similar principle

On the Bugmanssons bloodlines in AoS thing, they did justify early handwaves that as the World-that-Was was consumed by the chaos realm more tears in reality occurred which is how some tribes escaped across time. 2 biggest examples are a dwarf Zhufbar clan dug through a rift as the world ended and descendants became a industrial town seen in “Spear of Shadows” and a Kurgan tribe went through a portal that zipped them to the Realm of Beasts where they left some tombs in Gnarlwoods, migrated to Aqshy and became the Direbrand tribe that gave birth to Khorgus Khul, Vandus Hammerhand and now Gunner Brand.

I have a feeling that if you don't dread the chalice of the lady you aren't worthy to begin with. Many of the chaos followers truly thought they are incorruptibles.

The genocidal aspect to Bugman going from different greenskin types just to slaughter them really sounds like the story of a khorne champion especially with the mad muttering and them making other dawi uncomfortable.

I don't know why, but I like the idea of a faction of Dwarfs with Abrahamic names (even after Khazalid-fying it a little). Now trying to imagine what dwarfs would be like if they were influenced by Araby.

The vengeance and shadows bit makes it seem as Bugman is almost like Dwarf Alith Anar with beer.

very interesting video. I would like to read a story about a Dwarf after they've fulfilled their oath and went through that post oath Depression period.

If I remember rightly, Grungni recreates Grombrindal in AoS to give his people hope. I can't remember exactly how but I have a feeling its connected to the same process as making Stormcasts... but I might be wrong on that As such it would make sense for him to have done something similar for Bugman (in fact it would make more sense that the alternatives) and that would also make it fit better with the original lore.

When is either of the Lordbeard youtube playlists going to be updated? Both you and the LAWHammer channels are missing a decent amount of the videos. One are missing some from both channels while the other seems to be missing all the new videos since the Hobgoblins video.

So does anyone burn the spores or bodies after killing orcs? You are not doing much by just killing orcs.

Eltharion made a point of it in 8th ed Edit: though you would say bugman does this too

Sounds like a real bisnuis dwarf to me, i do wants him as a general or hero in TWWHIII, I would love the moment a not-bugmman making a better or equeal bear and have a real bugman just swear and grumble in his beard. And after a long disquission and think, reluctantly agree it could be named equal. I Want to see that legal fight

"We're scraping the barrel for Total War" For units yes. For Characters ? Hell no. Wish they would bring more character oriented dlc. Make them cheaper, give them basic campaign mechanics, nothing fancy. But bring me all my characters :D
