What I liked in PSMD was the final part. After 3 games of the player being the one to disappear, with varying endings all of which are sad in their own ways, suddenly they pull the bait and switch and make the partner disappear, and it worked just as well. Only you have to live alone now, not them. Well, until you get them back.

Dude, that made me fucking _sob_ when I first saw that scene. The partner being pretty well written(I completely disagree with people saying he's too annoying), it was just all the more shocking to me. I had come to love that little Fennekin, who I still think is the best fit for that specific partner.

Same, this was my first ever Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game, before I even heard about what the games were about. From what I hear, it's not as coveted as other PMD games, and I could definitely tell that the story wasn't the best at times, but it was still a much better story experience than I've experienced in other games, and the ending was still a tear jerker.

That “don’t give up scene” made me tear up a bit just watching it here. The message at the end is so surprisingly profound, and for all the pacing issues this game has, I think the ending more than makes up for it. I wholeheartedly love this game and Explorers of Sky, both are huge inspirations for me to be a writer and tell fictional stories like this, so I appreciate you giving them some attention. This game in particular is already a huge inspiration for a book series I’m planning on writing, I just hope I can make it be just as emotionally rich 💕

I have _never_ understood the bitter feelings a lot of people have towards the partner in this game. I think he's the most realistic, and having grown up as a kid with ADHD, I find him to be incredibly relatable, even if I'm a lot shyer than him. The reasons that people hate him are the exact reasons why I'm so attached to him and why I find him so endearing.

I also liked how independent they were in compare to the previous PMD partners, so even if they have some childishness to them earlier in the game, which the partner is self aware about, they do overcome and scale it back being like that when they openly chose to join the Exploration Society or however they were called again.

As a person who started their Pokemon Mystery Dungeon love through this game, its really fun seeing it again. Weirdly, as soon as I saw the Beheeyem, I instantly remembered the whole story plot, for the most part. I didn't know that this game was that important to my love of PMD until this video.

I'm replaying this game for the first time since release, and immediately after finishing Sky. Trust me, it's just hard. The stuff the game drags you through before leaving Serene Village is just nuts, and it forces you to either grind or get lucky with random items.
@frosted_glaceon5513 Жыл бұрын
@TheAbsol7448 It's especially difficult because when you're in the story it forces you to go into the next story dungeon and you can't choose to do other rescues in between unless you are in between story points. Post game was hard as heck to get through as a Fennekin.

In my opinion, Supers cast of characters is slightly stronger than Explorers. The main characters have a closer connection to the town and Expedition Society have more notable personalities compared to some of the guild (Archen, Jirachi and Buizel for example). Of course my favorite characters would have to be the Partner and Espurr. Despite me making comparisons between Explorers and Super, I wish that more people didn’t look down on games that aren’t Explorers just because they’re not exactly like it. Of course, it’s great to have your own opinions on the games.

It’s a thing I’ve noticed with Assassin’s Creed as well, everything gets compared to the Ezio trilogy. Explorers has a good story (I think Sky has taken over the other two due to the Special Episodes), but they all have good stories. Some portions of Super, Gates might have even done really well (Dark Matter vs Bittercold, but the latter is unknown the origin of the cycle) both with some great characters. But I have enjoyed and teared up at all the stories and music. They’ve all been great with their own strengths

This game definitely contains the best plot twist in all of Pokémon. Now we know how our partner always feels having to watch us leave at the end. I decided to play this game again. My Pokémon is a Froakie that I named Ash and my partner is a female Snivy I named Rachel. when I was younger and played this game I definitely thought it was the weakest of the 4. Truth be told I felt like it was a lot more childish than the previous installments, all 3 of which I REALLY liked and felt were a bit more mature(mind you not much more since it IS a mystery dungeon game, but the aspects of dying/being labeled criminals were big concepts for me at the time), while this one felt a bit more lacking. I definitely teared a bit playing through it as every MD has that power, but It never hit me as hard as Kyurem stomping on you in Gates or You vanishing at temporal tower. the gameplay of super is infuriating honestly. fighting annoying AI with a bad level curve leaves you over-reliant on item spam to make any progress the story isn't AS bad but while it's good at times its more often somewhere between "fine" and "absolutely cringeworthy" i don't see how this game is anywhere near as good as sky. i don't even see how it's better than rescue team.
@FirstLast-mn4re2 ай бұрын
"Item spam" is not a bad thing in the Mystery Dungeon series. Every non-Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game has a much larger emphasis on inventory management and strategic item use, because its a rougelike. The items exist to be used, not hoarded in your storage box never to see the light of day again. Also not really sure what you're on about with the "bad AI" the partner's AI is significantly better in this game than any of the previous PMD games, actually avoiding revealed traps, actually using type effective moves and actually being able to attack through you. Like the partner AI actually contributes quite a bit in Super.
@blissfulstatic25632 ай бұрын
@@FirstLast-mn4re well it's great that i'm not talking about the partner AI then. I'm referring to the enemies that will walk around inside one room forever, waiting for you to enter so they can instantly pop an earthquake or other room damaging move. I'm talking about how basically every enemy has a move that hits from a space away and will never approach you, so every single interaction will start with you taking damage somehow. I said over-reliant for a reason. If you attempt to use any strategy besides spamming items, you're going to be punished in some way. do i need to be clearer?
@Buglin_Burger78782 жыл бұрын
A tip for Mystery Dungeon games, don't waste time trying to grind or solve things using damage items/tools just use reviver seeds. In almost every Mystery Dungeon game this is the best way to play as no item is an HP restore at 0 HP. Even an Oran Berry wastes 1 turn and you need to be above 0. This is a common issue in this genre of game though. It has all these fancy tools but none of them beat just the power of not die.
@FirstLast-mn4re2 ай бұрын
Or you could just use items that prevent you from needing revives in the first place. A good emera setup/crushing useless emeras for stat boosts can also help a lot. But packing emergency orbs and making good use of thorns/rocks/wands helps a lot with survivability since all of these items are stackable and help you to deal with threats from a distance. A revive or 2 is obviously quite helpful as insurance, but items help a lot to compensate for the slow level curve.
@ZoofyZoof2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. I hated this game's story. It was poorly told with annoying and bad characters, too long in the beginning town in too short in the next town with no time to get used to your new friends (not that they had anything likeable about them to begin with), it was super predictable Nuzleaf was a bad guy, the villain was incredibly generic and felt uninspired, and it rehashed the same ending they've been doing over and over again and it gets so old. It wasn't even good this time. Certain events felt forced simply to make the game last longer rather than serving any purpose to the story at all.
@lunaalencar79132 жыл бұрын
I finished this game a while ago and at first I was really disappointed. The fact that they made the main character children, having to go to school and all annoys me a little, but the biggest issue is the almost everything is tied to "being children". The exploration thing in lively town, the dungeons, traveling in Lapras… Besides that, the story was great. Arceus speaking to you and legendary Pokemon helping gave everything that sense of danger and urgency. Also, your partner disappearing was such a huge plot twist. I thing we have never seen such an amazing climax If it was just the story, I would've been completely fine with the child thing, but gosh the AI was horrible. Your partner only use moves that hit from afar even if the enemy is right in front of them, even if it's a not effective move. That annoyed me the most. But all in all, it's a great game! I'd say same level as explorers of sky because of the AI. (Sorry for the broken English)
