"A powerful, disturbing story you'll never forget" - Yep, sounds about right. I don't know what it is, but stories about teenage bullying always hit me harder than others. What a profound game.

As a psychology student, here's my little take on each character and how their issues are portrayed visually as well as in story telling, spoiler alert, it's quite long: Sam: it's safe to say that the reason why she's a bit "creepy" is due to trauma. Imagine being the daughter of a child molestor, the absolute stress and overall hardship that entails, remember how she mentioned feeling like she's having to go through the same thing again and far away from home. She's been a victim of humiliation before. And since Brian is the only person treating her like a human, it's also normal for people who've been through tough situations of abandonment to attach to a "special someone", doing stuff like taking pictures and burning oneself out just to seek that validation again. It's definitely not healthy, and she definitely isn't the most sane person, but she doesn't mean actual harm to anybody, she just didn't know how to adapt due to her past. Overall, she's just misunderstood but with issues that do require a few sessions of therapy, because her feeling identified with Jenny (the main character of the book she read) may be another sign of an unhealthy style of attachment. Brian: if his mom died, that already can cause anybody to become withdrawn, quiet, and keep to themselves. Both Sam and Kyle noticed how he remained quiet, locking his thoughts or feelings up, both of them saying how they wish they could see beyond that and get to know the real him. And, with his dad having a police officer job, it would also be safe to assume that his father is pushing his own expectations into Brian, Kyle mentioning this since he's the closest to Brian. It would make perfect sense why he would want to escape Rosen Peek: he's burnt out, feeling like he's alone, and without someone who he can trust, most likely not healing properly from the loss of his mom. Always told to keep a smile and please others, while being the very best. Sam notices this too, as said by her diary entry. Overall, he just needs someone who can listen, and needs to be taught how to trust others, getting used to receiving affection and genuine concern, etc. Stuff that parents are supposed to teach their kids, but in his case it didn't happen. Stayc (was that her name?): Overall... She doesn't seem like much of a good person. You could say she's very dull and plain, as not much is described about her aside from. Sam's entrys which are in her perspective, but can or cannot be the actual truth of what is going on with her. We can see a snippet of her persona through texts, she's the type to pick on someone for mere fun, Sam doesn't mean anything to her, so she's free to pick on her as much as she wants, often seeing other people that aren't her loved ones as mere entertainment. But she isn't dumb, she can catch on when things aren't going to plan, when things have actually gone too far, and when a loved one isn't their usual self. She's perceptive. Of course, she doesn't know that Kyle may be bisexual or just dating her as a cover up, so her evidence draws her to her conclusion since she never thought anything else other than the evidence shown to her. I do give her kudos for stepping her foot down and actually doing the right thing. Maybe out of vengance but, think of it as an accidental anti-hero, doing the right thing for the wrong reasons with or without the wrong methods. She may still have some moral compass with her, since she obviously haves feelings. And lastly, Kyle.... I'm not licenced to give a mental illness diagnosis, but from my knowledge, it's clear he's greatly troubled for his feelings for Brian. Whether or not it's because he can't accept the fact that he's attracted to males or not, is unknown, one can also feel extremely wrong for liking just their childhood friend, regardless of gender. But... Since we don't get an insight of how his past was, it's really hard to narrow down what actually made him have such a dangerous obsession with Brian. I'm assuming Kyle went through extreme trauma, like near-torture-life-or-death situations, for his own mental state to deteriorate in such a way. I can't say sociopathy, nor psychopathy, because he feels remorse to some degree, he feels emotions, and clinically, none of those diagnosis have that, sociopaths and psychopaths do not have feelings because that part of their brain is disconnected or underdeveloped, which is compensated with immense intelectual capacity. Egoism, extreme anger issues, lack of control of impulses, (he killed Sam as an impulse, this being proven by his immediate regret when pushing her off, which is a clear sign of this not being meditated or calculated before, otherwise he wouldn't panic.) It is unclear what mental illness he haves, but it's definitely strong enough for him to use substance abuse in order to forget the pain for a few minutes, as seen by how he mentioned it in the last pages of his diary. He is the one who needs help the most, and when he's in jail (because none of this still doesn't count to excuse his actions, as he can tell right from wrong, making him not eligible for legal insanity). Some theories could be schizophrenia by the mention of the voices, but also the entire game could be just a bad trip on drugs based on the good ending. Again, I'm not skilled enough to give a proper diagnosis without more evidence. Overall, everybody in here needs a therapist, and quick.

The storytelling of this game is absolutely AMAZING! Like just wow, all those little details, all those different mechanics, all that changing surrounding. Most of the game happening in one room, but it never feels narrow or boring. And the way plot twists and turns into unexpected directions, creating faulty images at first, and resolving at the end 🔥🔥 It painfully reminded about the past, and how obsessions distort us in a way. Despite the subject of the story being dark, many might really find bits and pieces of it relatable to themselves, which makes this game so interesting and powerful. I am glad for that experience of watching you exploring the story of this game. It was wonderful, thank you! ❤

The fact that people like Kyle exist in the real world is the real horror. That he would literally kill someone "new" or "different" to keep things the way he considers "normal" is so beyond messed up. And Sam was just a girl trying to live a normal life, a fresh start, cause her dad's actions ruined her life before. It's sad, and just for the record Kyle shouldn't ever have closure for bullying and mentally torturing someone until he decided to kill them in cold blood because he was so selfish.

One thing I ask myself alot about Insym... why is he always wiping his nose? Every video, he wipes it at least 10 times. Does he have a never ending cold? How bad is his allergies? Does he need some chicken noodle soup? But, more importantly, what brand of tissue is he using? I mean, come on, if anyone else wiped their nose half as much as him, it would be rawer than a fresh cut steak. Does he moisturize his nose nightly? I need to know these things. Also, Insym, love ya buddy. Thank you for the great streams and vods.

I was reminded of this game yesterday and you're playing it (well, uploaded it) today!! How awesome! It's such a good example of how a horror can be "simple" yet SO very effective! The paranoia that builds as you turn your back to the room to read the diary is honestly sublime. It's the same feeling I get when I watch horror in my bed, my back turned to my door...

I had forgotten about this game. I hate almost everyone in this game. Stacy and Kyle are the two I hate the most. Stacy may have turned good(ish) towards the end, but I still don’t like her. This game reminds me of the Amanda Todd thing that happened 10 years ago. Look it up if you want the full story, but I will warn that it is relatively dark.

Really great story! And amazing plot twists. I dind't figure out Kyle was the owner of the diary, until stacy wrote the mobile text. I thought all along it was Brian, in a 3 part drama. DAMN, well written! Thanks Insym! Awesome video as allways. P.s It's often seen with younger persons, Kyle in this case, reacting as a victim, due to the lack of love, that wasn't reciprocated. It can also occur with teenagers towards their parents. Love can be a mischievous thing.

I am usually very capable of seeing and watching horror, all the gore movies, the jumpscares, the games, but this one gave me awful anxiety. Some of it I feel like relates to the grudge movies (I used to watch them when I was a kid). It was amazing watching this but there were parts where I just felt too anxious to watch, which suprised me myself completely. But I am glad you are capable of going thru this when I know I wouldn't be able to.

Wow, I have so many thoughts but little ways to put out how amazing the style to tell the story was. At first, I thought it was mostly just a book in a game. But the horror elements, and the horror elements getting more and more stressful perfectly followed the entrys, giving the player (at least me who watched) emotions to fit Kyle's rising emotions and Sam's diarys were also so perfectly paced between Kyle's entrys. It was unfolded over the ending to in such an impactfull way. I know, I will never see anything like this created, this is so beautifully unique and 1 million IQ

Even better if you consider this game also has multiple endings so as you fall into depravity and slowly realize what is going on you also make choices you didn't even realize which leads to an ending that wraps up those choices. It is really a sad story. Spoilers: IMO, the villain is a tragic one. People write it off as a victim complex but that seems to be just a symptom of far more serious issues. They have abandonment issues, and are clearly depressed, paranoid, and dependent on Brian. Wouldn't be surprised if they have some serious mental illness. In that sense they were a victim. You can't help how your illness manifests, and sometimes it is in response to a serious trauma. Wouldn't be a surprise if rampant small town homophobia, and internalized homophobia was a contributing factor. I expect people to say that "not all mentally ill people commit crimes" as a justification for retributive justice, but as a mentally ill person myself, I have to say that the severity and type kd illness affects how much agency you really do have. This doesn't mean that we shouldn't hold people responsible, just that we shouldn't focus on retribution so much as preventive action, care, and rehabilitation. This individual clearly recognized what they were doing was wrong, even if they felt it was instrumental to their survival and so they have to be held accountable. IMO, the trope of the closeted queer killer isn't a great one but it was an interesting game.

To answer your question about how the school works in the U.S it's pre school then pre k (kindergarten)then you start kindergarten at 5 year's of age. Then it goes elementary school which are 1st grade to 6th grade. Then middle school which is 7th and 8th grade. Then highschool at 9th to 12th grade after that it's college but at 11th grade your more then likely around the ages of 16 and early 17 years of age.

you think A B C system is bad? we have a concept system where things are "I", "R", "B" or "MB" 😂 It sucked, most people in my country seem to use 0-10, my school was weird. In plain translation it would be "Insufficient", "Regular", "Good" and "Very Good" where "Insufficient" was anything below average. If you got an ok note there was this distiction between regular (like a 5-6), good (7-8) and very good (9-10). Standard was kindergarden A and B (5-6yo), 8 years of fundamental school and 3 years of mid school. Now there's an extra year in fundamental, I assume people start earlier. I failed in kindergarden btw, didn't socialize well and had to repeat it :D

honestly, as bad as this is going to sound, i feel like this is something that could happen at my school- one of the grades at my school remind me a bit too much of kyle in their recklessness- a few of them got caught doing drugs in the school bathrooms??? i'm a sophomore and can barely bring myself to ask to go to the bathroom normally, much less ask to go do drugs. literally the entire school other than that one group of kids isn't doing well but manages, those people are just going wild. it wouldn't really be incorrect to assume that with a few pushes, one of them could give in and do something like this and honestly, that makes me really scared.

I always thought this was one of the creepier indie horror games, at least the first half. Thanks for playing!
