So helpful! I think this is the third time I've come back to this video. I love these videos where you concentrate on a colour and how it varies for the different seasons, Christine. I used to think 'grey' looked terrible on me before I discovered season analysis, now as a Soft Summer I see how particular greys look great and have replaced black as a neutral in my wardrobe.

Thank you, I'm so happy to know the video has helped you make new decisions in your application of colour. Some colours, as you'll see in the Your Best Orange video, don't look like the traditional predictable version in some groups, but grays that look gray exist in all 12 Seasons. Soft Summer has many. Just FYI, I find neutrals the most challenging to choose for any Season and you can purchase a set of 12 choices on my website if you live in N. America, link in Description.

Congratulations on growing out your silver hair. In a gorgeous style, I find silver the most glamorous hair colour we can have, like jewelry for our heads. If you're able to have an in person colour analysis, it's a game changer in these years (you can find links in the Description box of all the videos on the channel). You'll know what information about colour relates to you and be on your way to making the most of your new hair colour.

Glad I could help! Gray takes time to understand but it can be so elegant, and key to a wardrobe. There are so many lovely grays and they're a welcome option since white is harder to maintain, and darks are useful but perhaps less nuanced than gray.

I don’t own anything grey! As a warm-neutral season thought it washed me out so purged this from my wardrobe. Really interesting points ☺️ shall definitely reconsider and try out some warm or neutral greys. Also so glad to hear practical advise and someone saying that not only can people lean neutral, but that they commonly do! Too often analysts treat warmth as being a discreet warm or cool.
@ChristineScaman2 жыл бұрын
Good to hear that you're looking at gray again, it's a magical and essential background. Warm-neutral groups, both Spring and Autumn types, might have grays that don't look like standard gray, but everyone has colours that function as harmonious grays.

Grey is super tricky. For my winter season, I don’t find them the most easy with my skin tone, it needs to be clear enough and sometimes dark enough…and of course, cool enough. This is not easy.
@ChristineScaman Жыл бұрын
Indeed true. It helps me to ask myself whether I can see a colour pigment within the gray. Usually with Winter, I don't, like lead, iron, aluminum, or I'm not as sure of what the pigment is. With the other Seasons, I feel quite sure about what the colour would be if it were saturated back up.

Hi Christine! Thank you so much for this video - very eye opening. When you mentioned that the muted fuchsia would be a similar colour to the natural blush in the cheeks of a true summer I started thinking about what colours would compliment my natural blush. I have saturated, pale olive skin, that rarely shows a natural blush, with cool pigmented lips. I’m not sure why season I lean towards, but I’m gaining a lot more confidence from the knowledge found in your videos. Thank you so much!! I’m so looking forward to your future videos.

Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds as though you may be a cooler Season. Many people have little natural blush or deeper melanin in the surface layers, but your lips may provide a clue to your natural reds.

Wow that was fascinating. Could you do the same with the 2 warm seasons and their neutrals by any chance? I am struggling to see my bright warm light with the typically soft neutrals. I’m fine with a few but not most. I’ve only just realised that there is too much contrast for me with whites or creams. They drain me now my hair is warm grey.

Hi! Can you do a video about how to tell if you are a muted summer. And how to tell if you are a muted autumn. Additionally, I see that for muted summer, very washed out muted colours that are quite trendy these days, muted summer can wear them. But I feel like there are not enough examples for me to imagine or picture them, so is it ok if you can do a video on providing examples too? Also, I’m a bright winter, but yet, when I wear my clothes, my friends tell me I exude diva vibes. And they think that some times, I don’t look that nice. I have no idea, whether it’s gotta do with the cutting or design, or the way I act, but I thought wearing my colour is supposed to make me look natural and healthy. Although I still look very nice, I don’t understand why I don’t get the feedback from my friends. I’m wondering if colours only plays a small part of deciding whether you look good and I also feel like many people judge bright winter colours, thinking it’s too flashy or too attention-seeking. What do you think?

Figuring out our Season on our own is really hard, even between the 4 True Seasons. When it comes to the subtlety of neighbour Seasons, I know folks who have read all the books and have the colour palettes and still are not sure. It takes an analyst with training and specially coloured drapes to get to the answer. Actually, you answer this in your second question, about BW. So much goes into how we and others perceive colour, combinations, identity, and the role of appearance in relationships that the threads get really tangled. The reason for those comments could be any or all of what you mention. A BW version of natural and healthy may be more visually impacting than another Season's, like if you watch the video with Timothee Chalamet, it's called How to Wear Winter Colours (there's a Summer video too on the channel), and maybe more so depending on whom you ask, where they live, their age, and so on. Wearing our colours in a style we're comfortable with goes a long way to finding peace.

You mentioned winter greys are low saturation - but not necessarily *completely* de-saturated. That they could have some slight shine/tinge of a color. But then won't those greys look a bit off if you wore them together in an outfit?
@ChristineScaman Жыл бұрын
The answer may be in the degrees. Stainless steel has a tinge of colour but it's so close to the gray scale of white and black that no colour is perceived, and more so next to the highly pigmented Winter colour colours. I imagine the grays are also desaturated versions of Winter-cool type colours to begin with, such as fuchsias rather than orange-reds.The degrees can be quite small, one reason I find 12 to be enough Seasons because the more groups, the finer the divisions, to the point that the groups become harder to tell apart.

I'd be happy to when time becomes available, from October onwards I expect. May I ask what you would like to see different from the Autumn Progressions videos from earlier this year? There are so many Pinterest boards and combination videos on LinkedIn and elsewhere showing Season colours and combinations that I'm wondering how to truly help you shop. If we were in a room having tea, which 3 questions would you ask me?
@pedinurse13 жыл бұрын
@@ChristineScaman Whats the best basic color for true autums, whats the best basic lipstick, where can you buy autumn colored clothing.?
@ChristineScaman3 жыл бұрын
Great questions! Answers may be the same for each one, in that there isn't only one. My 'best' will differ from one TA woman's idea to the next TA woman's. One might want bold lips and neutral clothing, another wears no makeup and loves greens, the next is 20 and wants the nearest version of what's in trend, and on it goes. Women in Athens, Oslo, and Toronto don't aspire to the same 'best'. There's too much diversity in people, how they look and what they want from appearance, and too many 'best' colours in a Season palette, and ways of wearing them, to narrow down these answers. I thought about cultivating our own idea of 'best' but decided against because I couldn't do it for myself. I can honestly say that I see no best colour in clothing or cosmetics for any Season. The makeup sample sets on my website offer a curated selection of extremely good choices. Where to buy Autumn coloured clothing...depends where you live, possibly more challenging in hot places and probably easier once the weather turns cooler. The answer may be shopping online. When I was starting, it helped to cast a much wider net than before, looking at new brands in new stores. You probably know about the 12 Blueprints Pinterest boards where I pin items in current retail for each Season. May I ask if those are useful and if not, why, so that I can adapt the process in a way that works for people? You may find that items for certain Seasons often come from similar brands or retailers. If an item is sold out, try typing the brand or name into Google or Shopstyle, both great ways of locating items in other stores. Many thanks for this conversation :)

Hi Christine! Can you do more videos using Asians as examples?
@ChristineScaman2 жыл бұрын
The topic is on the list :) I try to balance videos about the 4 Seasons and many persons of deeper skin tones have some Winter influence. Also, I have found that Season is much the same in terms of the testing process and the wearing of colours for all skin tones, from lightest to darkest. There's are videos on the channel with Oprah, Lupita Nyong'o, and the Met Gala 2021 with Mindy Kaling and Gemma Chan, that could have been all Asian woman of the same Seasons. The differences in what looks great are more in cultural preferences related to appearance and body type.

These shows are often about the clothing rather than the person wearing them, like a dress parade with little regard for who wore what. The men seem to either opt out by wearing pink or simple and more casual suits, or a straight tux. I love seeing how beautiful the women can look and wish they'd learn to play the game on their terms or hope that behind the scenes, they're been paid well to market dresses for fashion houses. I could also be paid to show logos. That's not selling out, it's a business transaction, which I respect since these folks are not at home with their tea and book :)

@@ChristineScaman i have to wonder how do they expect most of these fashions to go mainstream. I dont think they care about that, it seems like a waste. Anyway I consider more art than fashion.
@ChristineScaman3 жыл бұрын
I agree. The couture, runway, and fashion communities appear to have their own criteria with very specific usage or application. I imagine the same happens in the world of music and art, where communities grow around particular tastes that others wouldn't appreciate. To some degree, it's normal and amazing to see the art form, but much of this fashion either doesn't function as clothing at all or doesn't even flatter the person wearing it. The world of food and cuisine seem more democratic, maybe not a good word, just saying that 'cuisine' either tastes good or doesn't to a wider group of people.
