@sk8boardinmonkey yup but there are pro tripods designed just to hold the big lenses.so the camera is supported by the big lens.

@fullboxxskater it depends on what body you are using the lense on. On a higher class body, like a 5d mark2 you can use higher iso. You can also adjust your speed and aperture. Hope this helps

Really nice and informative demo of this lenses capabilities. It was nice that you included the distance from lens to subject. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

@bendingsnake What about it? The T2i is an entry-level crop sensor. It'd be cropped to 1.6x the 800mm focal length, taking it to 1280mm without a teleconverter and wouldn't look too much different from any Canon camera up to the 7D, slightly more "zoomed in" than if compared to a 1-series body with a 1.3x crop factor.
@honeybunchickens11 жыл бұрын
I personally think the 600mm f 4.0 lens is more practical. If i wanted more focal length i would just attach a 1/4 converter and get the same thing as you but have the ability to have 600mm and or 800 with opx the same aperture. Thats just my opinion. Still thats a great piece of lens you got there

Sigma 600mm is just my favorite mirror lens. Many mirror lenses available, and 500mm ones can be had for less than $100 used on day. The sigma, a little bigger and more rare usually about $200. I'd also look for an older sigma 400mm f5.6 APO. 20 years old but still a great starter telephoto, and it will autofocus...
@jsc34179 жыл бұрын
how do you like this comparing with 600mm f4? Does the f4 out weight the focus length? the 600 F4 II and 800 F5.6 is about the same cost.
@JimGoldstein8 жыл бұрын
The old 600mm f/4 was considerably heavier on par with the 800mm. The newer 600mm is 1.3lbs lighter which is noteworthy. Ultimately if you need the added magnification the 800mm is your lens. Both are solid lenses. I'd ultimately base a purchase decision on weight versus needed magnification. Another thing to consider is the Mark II lenses have been engineered for higher resolving power making for better image quality with larger megapixel sensors. This too should be factored into your decision making. Good luck and happy shooting.

@kobetasonik666 it's not bad but i'd recommend buying an entry level DSLR like the Nikon D3100 with like a tamron 18-200. I'd recommend the d3100 over ANY compact/ bridge camera.

only with a 1D mark II Mark III or mark IV. the 1D X does no longer have that feature. all others (7D, 5D, etc. cannot autofocus with starting f8 or higher)

You can use it on any EOS camera made since 1987, though on way old film cameras, the IS won't work. On a T3i everything will work, and you'll be at an effective 1,280mm. Or really damn close as they say. You can rent this thing in many big citys or online, but you might consider buying something like a 600mm Sigma Mirror Lens. Used on ebay, you'll pay less than this will cost to rent.

@@BrianSmith-vl7xu me too..I have a Toyota Yaris, all manual, stock shift, since 2007..250,000.00 km. Beside normal maintenance (oil & filter change on time, battery after around 3-4 years, and tires, I never had a major mechanical problem. changed the break pads only last year since I bought it. I am sure it will last me another 200,000 or 250000 miles more, it will certainly survive me.. As for the Canon lense, I just had a very good deal an FD 800mm F5.6 L with original case in mint+++ condition (no fungus, no balsam separation, no haze or fog), really immaculately condition, for $900.00. It happened that the ebay seller was close to where I live, in South Florida. 30mn away. Met her husband, checked out the lens..mounted on my tripod, made the deal right there, payed him, get back home with the lens..I already have the FD 500mm F4.5 L..but I wanted more reach for my birds photography. Cannot wait to take it out this weekend with a roll of Velvia 50. The seller told me that the lens came from an Estate and had only one owner who apparently stored it in very good condition..I am so happy..😂😂😂 Arthut Morris, the famous Floridian birds photographers made a living with this lens and a Canon T90 (which I own) for more than 10 or 15 years. I just need to look for a Gimbal.
