That's (Marttiini) a nice fish fillet knife. I used to have one like that. I used to live in Florida too. Used to fish off Ft. Myers. Brings back memories of good fishing.

Hi Pastor, Janne Marttiini was my uncle. Those knives are the best. He started the business in his garage as young man. Faith was more important than knives.😃 Blessed to have uncle like that. Posted by Carolyn Johnson for Birgit Stratton.

I’ve had 2 of these knives , a short and long one, in my hunting bag for over 30 years. I just found out about the history of the maker yesterday! I’m so excited to have learned that they are not just a couple regular fillet knives. 🔪 They cut so well so sharp. It was gifted to me by my father in law with his hunting gear/orange hunting clothes. So cool 😊

Thank you for the wonderful video and the good message! By the way, Rappala does still sell wood handled J. Martini marked fillet knives....they can even be found in Walmarts. I have a couple, and they are amazing little knives.

Janne was a preacher in our spiritual awakening from Finland. He did many speaking tours through America. If you search for the New Ipswich Apostolic Lutheran Church, and go to their sermon archives, down at the bottom you will see Tape Library Conversion. If you open that up, you can find a couple of his sermons in his older years. One is actually translated into English, though if you want to hear him get going, listen to the Finnish. The translator slowed him down a bit. He was a very powerful preacher known to be unafraid to point out sin yet could preach Jesus and grace sweetly enough that often there was verbal rejoicing among the listeners. He was either loved or hated. I have some sermons too of his that are not on their archives if you are interested. He was a big man physically with a rather high pitched voice, which I suppose was a little jarring for first time listeners, but it was a gift back in the day of no microphones, as it allowed his voice to carry. Unfortunately I do not understand Finnish myself.

Im 32y now and ive seen these handles in finland since then. I have one filee knife from my wifes grandmother. Pretty much same you have, but without sheath. And of course several puukkos. I think its funny they used to make different blades and just use the same handle.😄

I'm a bit late to the comments, but they way to pronounce Janne is two syllables: Yonn-EH. The o is like in Jon but short, the n is dragged out, and the e is like in fed.

If I catch some mullet soon, I'd be happy to do that. Would love to see how it works. I'm always using the cheaper filet knives. So, I need to try that one out.
