Another big problem is there are too many parent "Monday night quarterback" coaches getting licenses, because they have the $$$$, who know nothing about what it takes to become a pro-baller. It's easier to spot already developed talent than it is to actually develop the talent... let that one sink in.

Coach Javi, As a Grass Roots coach myself I see this every day! So many good talented players seem to fall off or give up playing simply due to the fact they can not afford it. What can we do as a system to get this any better? I’ve been blessed enough to get up to my D-License so far but anything after that I’m really on my own dime. How can we as a grass roots effort make education more freely available to anyone who wants to learn? By which give some competition to the USSF system who in most cases is far behind what the FA or UEFA models are at? I try to do my best by educate players who play for our club on the college route with hopes I can help them get into some D3 or D2 or even NAIA schools to give them a chance. I try to push academics as a way to show them they CAN get to college and play if they keep their heads down and do well in school to play. I’m always trying to network and find ways to give our kids who play for our small club ANY chance I can. Would like your take on what all we CAN DO to make things better. Thank you for all your videos

@coachjavi I can relate to this problem 10000%, I’m 18 and throughout my years i was offered to play for some club teams but unfortunately due to my parents financial situation it made it impossible. Little do people know how much this affects mental health because I saw my dream of playing pro start to slowly fade away, you start to lose confidence and start to devalue yourself because you see your friends playing in good club teams, and getting the opportunity to play in the biggest college showcases, while I played AYSO for most of my life. For that reason I dedicated to watch KZbin channels like yours and become elite so I can learn from the pros and develop my skills from there. And I know I am able to compete with those who played club but no matter how much I trained or how much I tried to learn the game of soccer My dream of becoming pro and even play college soccer is dying bc I don’t play club or play in a credible/competitive environment where I can can get recruited. I’m glad you made this video coach Javi to bring more awareness to this problem and hopefully it can be solved in the near future. God bless

Yo I can relate to your problem. I used to play on a good club team but it got expensive, so I just played high school soccer and rec. at least for my teams, since they weren’t high level soccer, my teammates played with passion and heart. Instead of their parents wasting $2,000 for there kid to touch a ball 3 times a week and get still get a college offer. Let’s break this system and get to the fucking top💪🏽⚽️❤️

Don’t give up guys! As I try to help as many kids as I can the best way to push forward with your dream is try to get good grades and give yourselves a chance at academic scholarships, yea its not always available to those in their senior years, but try to get some financial aid, go to a Junior College or Community College get good grades while you’re there, Look to transfer to a D3 or D2 School that has a good soccer program. Most high schools will allow you access to your game films, there’s so many videos online on how to edit them and put together a good highlight video. If you need any help I’m willing to help in anyway I can with any guidance.

this is exactly happening to me right now, can’t afford to play for a good level team due to parents financial issues and for high school, i’m not a very school-like type person which means grades depends if you’ll play or not. The coach won’t let me play and booted me off the team for it despite another person not doing as good but they’re still in the team. my dream is really fading away in front of my eyes and i can’t do anything here, it’s all about the money here sadly.

Great video Coach Javi. I’ve coached at clubs that have gone bankrupt and I’ve played at semi pro clubs that no longer exist because of all the high costs. I’ve also seen incredible talents because I currently am growing my own coaching business and work with a lot of young talents that are just incredible. And it saddens me to know that they will never get their own shot unless things fall perfectly into place for them. You actually sound exactly like me when I talk about these things as well. In my mind, the pay to play system in the US is a simple thought exercise. The only reason we have pay to play is because we have the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS. Like the rest of the world, if we only focused on the MLS, we could facilitate more talent in the sport like everyone else. The pay to play is the best system we have, for now. Traditionally, the path to be a professional in any sport in the US is through high school and college.

Totally agree, rich parents can play high level vs poor parents. Starting at 15 years most start to work because everything is expensive. Travel and club fees are to high so is really hard to afford it. Some clubs help to some really good players but still is expensive to travel. And some already have a job. So is really hard to move free in tournaments around USA.
@raiden031
@raiden031 7 ай бұрын
I think a few things causing the lack of top performance of US soccer is 1) not enough investment at the pro level, which leads to 2) other more lucrative sports picking up the best athletes, 3) pay to play at the youth level filtering out talent who are not affluent, 4) back to #2 too much multi-sport playing at the youth level waters down their skill development compared to other countries where many youth devote their lives to soccer, 5) top youth leagues catering more towards college recruiting and not enough towards the professional game. I left out the emphasis towards winning at the youth level because i often find that to be a red herring and all the kids i know would rather play with something on the line than having every game they play mean nothing to anyone.

Want to take him to where I am from in Spain , but Covid got in the way . I think government needs to invest more money as do MLS teams in Canada. Teams in Spain have more players in their Academy system per age group . Canadian MLS teams only carry small amounts of players and then ID players in play to play league . Which means if you can’t afford $ 4000 a year you will not get a chance .

Q&A: Hey Javi I am a winger and I make good runs and find myself one on one with a keeper, sometimes having too much time to think about where to put the ball becomes a problem and sometimes I end up putting it straight at the keeper, how do I become more decisive and confident in those situations after practicing them?

Keep a distance from the keeper if you can. Make the keeper move and shoot when he is of balance. The best strikers i have played against can shoot whenever making it hard for the goalkeeper to decide. Im a goalkeeper practicing with pros every day, if you decide to do something go all in. PS: shooting hard helps if you can’t decide, hard for the goalkeeper to prevent rebounds 1v1.

In my opinion they should focus on a few major cities and subsidize the cost for inner city kids. Cities like NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles and smaller cities such as Camden, NJ, St Louis, Stockton, Ca with crime issues. If the US did this there would be top 5 soccer country as soon as 10 years out. There would be a robust pipeilne into the MLS to maintain and build the league.

The most talent players will get scholarships at these clubs and pay little to no fees but they’re might be players that are late bloomers and might not get the chance because they’re not as good at a certain age to get scholarships so these possibly good future players are losing out but at the end of the day the majority of really good talented players are going to get scholarships to good clubs. The problem is that we have a small pool of athletes choosing football over basketball, American football and baseball. Also the coaching in the USA is too controlling in my opinion and is outdated mostly copying old English style football focusing more on the physical aspect of the game imo

I have very little hope for US soccer. The only thing the D course did for me was prevent me from getting more coaching jobs, and I've seen that with others to. Americans like to spend money and only think they are getting their value that way. I used Play Practice Play and was successful but got ridicule because I dont use every piece of equipment I could buy. I married a girl from South America and her dad coached professionally at one time, and a lot of the advice he gave me just wouldnt go over with parents here. For one, less yelling, he said soccer is abstract and the kids can't create if you are yelling and getting in their heads..........yet the non licensed jocks who were athletic in high school and scream are the ones I see getting coaching jobs in my little area. the D license is good, but being the big fish in a small pond holds more weight. As far as costs, we moved back from South America for the public school system, but Im finding we would've been ahead and it cheaper to pay for a private school abroad and got the cheaper better soccer down there.

You indicates that in other countries there are free youth soccer development academies, but in the US parents have to pay $3500 per child per year. So how do these other countries pay for these free academies. Among the world soccer powerhouse are under-developed, third-world agrarian countries. They have a lot of people living below the poverty line. So how do these countries pay for these free academies. The word free does not mean free. Someone has to pay the bills. The US is a developed country and has a large middle class where paying $3500 per child per year is prohibitive. I like to know how these other countries, many of whom are under-developed third-world agrarian societies, offer free soccer academies? A lot of South American countries fall into this category and they still produce top players. Pele said that Brazil has a lot poor people who have no other career opportunities but to play soccer in the streets with other children. Yet it is these children who live in poverty, they can't afford to go to school, they play soccer all day, and a handful of children become world class soccer players. But only a handful of children make it to the top European Soccer Leagues. How can the Brazilian government possibly pay for free soccer academies? The Brazilian government simply do not have the budget to pay for socialist utopian programs like free soccer academies that pay for everything the student athletes need. If the US government has problem paying for this then how can the Brazilian or Argentinian government fund these socialist-utopian free soccer academy programs? It is wonderful to help promising young athletes reach their potential but the ugly truth is somebody has to pay for it. Are the Brazilian and Argentinian people paying for these academies with their income tax? Are the professional football clubs paying for it? Are the soccer clubs able to pay for these programs? If yes then wonderful. But I think that would be very difficult as most clubs spend most of the revenue paying soccer players in their top division.

WHY us government don't establish national academy like Qatar. Qatar won the Asia cup when they are only a littlie bit more than one million people. but us above 300 millions, then maybe there will be a chance to create very strong squad for their national team. they have now pulisic playing for Chelsea, there will be more professional players in near future if they think in that way.

Pay to play & pay to coach in the US, It is a disgrace. The way they organize soccer in America is ridiculous. Will take a hundred years for us to get in to a world cup quarter final . Didn't have to be like that. The sabotage starts when they switch the name from "football to soccer".
