I thought this clip was quite prophetic when I watched it recently. What is equality without quotas? ;-)
KZbin forces me to approve comments, so if you don't see your comment, it's because KZbin has decided it's spam and have held it for my approval. So apologies if your pithy comment disappears. I will get round to approving it, there's just a lot of them to get through.
I'm also on Twitter (send nudes.), but my timeline is shadowbanned/throttled/choked/pegged or whatever it is that degenerate coal-burning faggot @Jack does to conservative accounts on Twitter to shut them up. Ironically, this has created a wonderful sense of community among conservatives on Twitter, while the SJW fucks eat each other. So there's that.
Incidentally, I don't own this material and I make no money from it. The clip is from "The Enforcer" which is a Warner Brothers film.
(And well worth watching!) When it hit a million views, I thought "Hell! Imagine how much money this would have made?! But then of course, Warner would, (quite reasonably) have swiped all the money. And if they hadn't, KZbin would have shafted me anyway with the new "advertiser friendly" rules. So it all worked out in the end, I guess. True story: KZbin offered me what they called "partnership" about 8 years ago, and my response was to delete all my videos and start again. Because that's the kind of awkward, stubborn bastard I am.
This is normally the part where people tell you how you can give them money. Hah! Fuck those e-beggers. They think farting around on their PC uploading shit to KZbin is work. Get a proper job, you lazy bastards! :-P

Harry is a more on. Detectives don't duke it out. If they have a violent suspect they have to arrest, they tell the grunts to take care of it. They don't do it themselves. They should have made Harry a sargent or some chit. Then it would make sense. Cause detectives rarely see any action.

The key character in this scene, is the older woman. She is interested only in pushing her agenda, with no regard for the lives it will cost, particularly if those lives are that of men. Taking her own inadequacies out on the world.

No, the door should be open to all who qualify and have paid their dues. That "paying their dues" part is where many jobs provide education for higher positions in all trades/professions. It is not PC but in many ways we do that to an even higher degree today because many get to skip that part of the process. Level the playing field and require all to meet the same minimal standards that are more than walking and chewing gum. Then the best gets the position/job...

Cryptonymicus no, I don’t think Dirty Harry flicks reflected society. I think the content of this 3 minute clip hit the nail on the head. Nowadays this character would somehow be the villain or learn a valuable lesson by the end of the film. Instead he voiced a concern that is a festering problem to this day. He may come off as an asshole but he’s not wrong. And that writing doesn’t exist in Hollywood anymore. I don’t drink. Have a nice day.

As of 2019, something Harry was worried about this 3:16 happening in Korea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJyXoHd6iKqXeaM&has_verified=1 korean women police it is said in korean 대림동 여경 논란 Korean female police officers are unable to control even the elderly who are drunk.

I saw a video on KZbin not long ago where a female officer was trying to subdue an arrest a guy who probably outweighed her by 50 lb. She couldn't do it, so a civilian stepped in and brought the guy down for her. It was a local news feature, and it was titled something like "civilian is a hero." Nothing was mentioned about the officer not able to perform her job.

James Trory I don't care about gender. Police officers need to be able to do their job. No justification needed.
@gcarlson
@gcarlson 6 жыл бұрын
James Trory Here's a scenario for the sake of argument. You're a police chief who is pressured into filling a hiring quota based on the idea of representing certain minorities. One of the most glaring deficits in your police force is the lack of Asian women. You pass over many resumes of qualified applicants until you finally find someone who happens to be both Asian and female. During training she shows enthusiasm, ingenuity, and a firm grasp of the law. However, she struggles with the physical aspects of the training and is unable to meet minimum standards. You make an exception and you bring her on the force anyway. Within the first few weeks she and her new partner find themselves in dangerous situations that escalate into physical confrontations. At one point she is unable to back her partner up and places the other officer in a very compromised position. One where he almost loses his life. Complaints are filed, but you have a quota. So nothing is done. Then one terrible Friday night she and her partner arrive at a domestic disturbance. Again she is unable to back her partner up and he gets shot and incapacitated. Now the perpetrator overpowers her, ties her up, rapes her, and slits her throat. She's dead. And the partner she couldn't back up is bleeding out. Eventually he dies as well. So what happens when the loved ones of the two slain officers ask why you allowed this? Why did you keep a less than capable officer in the field when you knew she wasn't up for the task? *What is your justification?*

Speaking as a woman I would be inclined to agree with Clint on this one. When are people going to realise that positive discrimination in favour of one group will always disadvantage another. Although I see no reason why women should not be able to obtain higher rank, I do believe that they should earn it. If women continue down this slippery slope they will forfeit both respect and credibility. You ask most women with children who also have to work full time at a mind-numbingly boring job if they wouldn't rather stay home and bring up those children properly. The reason for high rates of obesity is due largely to the fact that girls are not taught to cook at school as it is considered demeaning, and mum is working all day leaving her no time to teach . Boys run around with gangs because there is no one at home to give them time, care and stability. It is time that we stopped treating women who want to stay home with their children as second-class, citizens, mindless Cinderellas. What could be more noble than raising one's children in a secure loving home, and giving your life to teach them the skills they will need to live healthy, happy lives themselves. I expect I shall be inundated by angry Feminists for my tirade but just let me say this. I gave up a wonderful job which I loved in order to care for my son, and I have never regretted.I was fortunate to have been able to choose. We should make it easier for women to mind their own children if they wish. Oh, and one more little thing, if mothers could spend more time with their sons the little cherubs might grow up to have more respect for women than some of the ignorant "men" who commented on this item! Now the men will troll me too, Hey Ho!

I generally agree. _"When are people going to realise that positive discrimination in favour of one group will always disadvantage another."_ _"I do believe that they should earn it."_ Which is the point most of these comments are making, even many of the 'disrespectful' ones. Quotas are fundamentally anti-merit. _"The reason for high rates of obesity is due largely to the fact that girls are not taught to cook at school as it is considered demeaning, and mum is working all day leaving her no time to teach."_ Interesting point, but while I think cooking is a valuable skill for both girls and boys, I very much doubt that's largely the cause of current high rates of obesity. Teaching nutrition science (to everyone) might help a lot more. Not to mention more physical activities in schools, less teaching children to sit down and be quiet. _"Boys run around with gangs because there is no one at home to give them time, care and stability."_ Also often because fathers are not in the home. _"I gave up a wonderful job which I loved in order to care for my son, and I have never regretted."_ Cheers. _"if mothers could spend more time with their sons the little cherubs might grow up to have more respect for women"_ Maybe you didn't mean it in quite the way you said it, maybe it's you who are trolling, but I often hear this and I will point out that I think it's both biased and foolish to teach boys to 'respect women' in so many words. Teach both boys and girls respect for genuine _virtues,_ and to give respect where it is due regardless of gender. I also believe that doing so properly tends to require both mothers _and_ fathers.

Political Fatigue, i agree with your last comments, " Teach both boys and girls respect for genuine virtues, and to give respect where it is due regardless of gender. I also believe that doing so properly tends to require both mothers and fathers." That is so true. The bottom line is Women should be allowed the same choice as men in society, a choice that is theirs to make, not forced on them. This Feminist crap does nothing to advance womens rights, if anything it makes the situation worse. If a woman wishes to work, fine. If she wishes to stay at home and raise a family, fine. Who are we as society to place unreasonable demands on people based on an archaic view of gender?

When I went to school back in the sixties, we were taught Domestic Science,. This incorporated cookery skills with instruction of the calorific value of foods, the nutritional needs of children and invalids and even the various calorific requirements of different types of workers. Hygiene and budgeting were also a part of this subject. When I refer to cookery this is what I mean. During my life, I have nursed elderly Grandparents and parents, fed a husband who was at the time of our marriage a Hospital Administrator but who became a landscape gardener in later life, thus needing two totally different calory counts, and brought up a son. I have been very hard up at times, a mean seriously broke when my husband was ill for some years and unable to work. Even at these times, I was, because of my education able to produce healthy, nutritious meals on a shoestring budget. It is possible to do this if you know how. Our cholesterol levels are normal and except for Arthritis my husband and I, now well into our sixties are in good health. I should add that I went to a very ordinary secondary modern school. As to parenting (awful word) as a matter of tradition, it has been the woman's task to bring up children and quite often Fathers had little to do with the daily routine, there at least things have improved, somewhat. With regard to respect I agree with you up to a point and indeed I did not express myself at all well. In these times there is little respect for anything, we live in a "grab all" society which values only the pursuit of wealth, where a person is judged by their possessions, and where aspiration has become a dirty word. There is nothing foolish about teaching respect, for each other, our environment, etc, and an understanding of the needs of others. Lasting relationships cannot be forged without mutual respect, even our existence on this planet is fast becoming untenable because quite simply there is no respect for the Earth which sustains us. .School today have Life Skill classes which are a joke. Many men and women are no better off than battery hens, forced to work longer and longer hours in order to maintain their lifestyle, or often just in order to survive, and the children are the casualties. What I am really saying is sod women's lib and give those who wish to a chance to care for their families, children and the elderly. If women were paid a decent wage to stay at home think how much would be saved on Care Homes and Nurseries, which are always going to be second best.

@CC Greening John Wayne, great, not really. As an actor, he could do two, maybe three character tops. As a person, quite a piece of shit. He was a party boy, drunk, hypocrite who dodged the draft in WW2, and then practically made a second career out of critisizing people who did the same thing during Vietnam. Don't conflate the man with the characters he plays. On that note, i highly reccomend everybody watch The Searchers. A great and pivotal film in 20th century cinema, and most of that is due to the brillant directing of John Ford, not Wayne.

And why are you assuming that POC or Women can't do as good or better than a White Male? Yes, this was from 1976 but its not prophetic. There are Women in the Military who have more than proven themselves on the battlefield and the front lines. Are you in the miliary? How would you know? i'm not, so I know better than to question it. There has been POC Afro-Americans/Hispanics who are just as qualified and even more so than White Male.In the past they haven't been given the same oppurtunites because of Racism/Mysgonmy. No. No one should get a position just because of their skin color or gender. But hey shouldn't be discriminated because of it either. Its not just Diversity we need, but Inclusionism as well as the chance to prove our worth based our abilities. And yet we still deal with a system that favors the White-Male -status quo.

Kent Darden What you are saying is true, but I've reread his comment about few times and haven't seen anything about not hiring or promoting based on skin color. He made the point that people should be granted a position based on their merit. I was in the military and I agree that women can serve honorably. I've seen it first hand. However certain jobs are not exactly tailor made for females. I would be less inclined to want a female to be in para rescue because of the fact that you will likely have to carry 200 lbs worth of dead weight off of the battlefield on a regular bases. That doesn't mean certain women can't do it but it puts them at a disadvantage. If they are capable of doing it that's one thing but the idea of allowing women to do things just because we want to look more diverse will cost lives.

It seems, Imran Sajjad, that you believe the second paragraph of the United States' Declaration of Independence is a SCIENTIFIC FINDING suggesting that an inequality of result reveals an inequality of rights, of opportunity. It isn't and couldn't be. It was a GOAL TO WORK TOWARD. That paragraph did not promise an equality of outcome. It meant to provide an equality of rights. At the end of a football game, a losing team does not complain that the playing field was biased. Realists understand that one team must win and one must lose. Your ignorant position itself, Mr. Sajjad, indicates that equality is NOT of competitors. The only equality people should expect is of opportunity.

I understand the scene here. The message here has nothing to do with a woman's place. It's simple: DON'T PUT A RECRUIT STRAIGHT INTO THE FIELD IF THEY'RE NOT READY FOR IT. As it turned out, Officer Kate Moore (Tyne Daly) gradually grew into her role as an Inspector, so much so that even Harry Callahan (Eastwood) began to appreciate her. The problem was that she was just thrust into the field without being adequately prepared for it, and was even kept out of the male officers' conversations, and that contributed to Kate losing her life at the end of the film (though her warning to Harry just before she got shot saved his life, and she also saved his life when Wanda, disguised as a nun, almost shot him from behind). The same message was seen in the first Police Academy film. If you're gonna put a woman in the field, give her the same training you would give a man. And she will do an excellent job.

Its a great point , from the mid 70's that hits reality head on , especially today witch is interestly remarkable. The humor , (in my humble opinion) is in our imaginations. Hypothetical situation: Can you imagine in the mid 70's, that classic Harry Callahan 60 to 90 degree turn of his head with those Dirty Harry shades , to glare at someone who is trying to explain the concept of trans gender bathrooms ? That slow frozen deadly stare thinking of putting a .44 shell between the eyes of anyone who thinks T G bathrooms are a good idea ? Humor indeed. !!

As a former Police Officer this situation occurred. My female counter part hesitated when we made an arrest on a guy. He fought her and I was able to get him into a head lock. He gave up...and I cuffed him. She just stood there and watched. It could have ended badly just as it was stated in this video. It was eerie watching this because it happened to me. I complained about what had happened to my Chief. The Chief yelled at me and told me we would get sued if I didn't shut up. Granted I stayed on for another year but gave up my Law Enforcement career because of politics and garbage like this. I don't miss it.

A very similar situation occured last year in France, in Orly Airport. In France, particularly in Paris and of course very much in particular in the Charles De Gaule and Orly airports they have the security forces on high alert according to the level "Vigipirate" (i.e. they have military in uniforms and rifles on every corner ready to intervene). So in the middle of all these measures a French-born Arab thug-ex-convict-turned-Jihadist attacked 3 French soldiers and grabbed the one in the middle! She was a woman of course. He grabbed her with particular ease and dragged her meters away like she was a little doll all while her colleagues could not use their rifles for fear of killing her, yet rendering themselves vulnerable to the attacker who had grabbed her rifle!!! It was only due to the hesitation of the attacker who was not 100% convinced to kill right then that the other two soldiers were not massacred on the spot. Another attacker would had killed possibly both of them and innocent civilians around. Had it been a man, it would be far more difficult for the terrorist to grab-and-drag. Most possibly he would try to strangle the soldier while the other two soldiers would kick his head with the butt of their rifles or just shoot him from contact-point. With the woman however it was piece of cake... he grabbed her and dragged her back whole meters away in a single 1-2 seconds! And guess what... French, British and US media were speaking of "a soldier". Not even saying the soldier was a woman when in the video it was ultra evident. None of us is against females in the army and police forces but really everyone must be fit for the role he is called up to fill up. Tons of non-field work both in the army and police and these could nicely be filled up by women. Why should they be on roles that they physically (and even mentally) they can't fulfil with the expected performances? To comply with stupid policies? It is 100% bullshit.

Ill ad one more here too. I was ground fighting a active resister while a female stood there and watched. Fortunately, I was able to gain control and subdue the mutt. However, after I cleared that, I had a little chat with Miss Copperette about how if she wants to wear the same badge as me, get paid the same as me, and command the same respect as me she needs to EARN it! I also told her the next time she pulls that shit, Im comin after her next. It never happened, and she avoided me thereafter. Just as well. I don't need that kind of liability around me. Either way I don't give a DAMN what anyone "feels" about it. My life and my safety are NOT negotiable nor subject to PC bullshit.....EVER!

Actually Tyne Daly is pretty good here, given the ridiculous role. This part makes no sense, because if she was given a decent character the whole mysoginistic nonsense speech by Eastwood would fail. It required a ridiculous setup and the fake sounding woman to set up the lines. The woman playing the observer is given a part here where she is expected to be unbelievable and false. Oh and the 'Stylish' line that Eastwood throws back is actually his word in the first place, making it a nonsense.

Craig, you hit the nail on the head. Here in the UK the police are currently trying to recruit people of colour, different races, as the claim is we need to balance the police force with ethnic groups. So in public the population is only ten percent ethnic coloured groups. So why are the Police making such a concerted recruitment attempt when it only needs to be around ten percent of the total force?

robert till - there is a point to the British police force recruiting diverse ethnicities. If you restrict the police force to only one ethnic group then it encourages criminals to complain that they are being discriminated against on grounds of race, religion or ethnicity. And they will argue that in court and get off on a technicality. In order to be fully respected, the police force has to be as diverse as the population it serves.
@roberttill3787
@roberttill3787 6 жыл бұрын
Fiona, you have totally misunderstood my comment. Why do we need to be pushing greater recruitment of ethnic diversity as opposed to recruitment? Yes we need more Police, and yes we likely need more ethnicity in the police force. What you do not seem to have understood is my reasoning that why do we need more than the racial percentage that forms the diverse make up of our society? If we get more ethnic officers than the population percentage, all good, but to actively seek an ethnic minority applicant over another applicant, who may be better qualified or experienced, what would you do? In any employment field, we should be looking for the best applicant, not just that they are a particular ethnicity. I find this attitude bordering on Racism, which i am not. Race and Ethnicity should not be the basis of a recruitment campaign in any field of employment.

Alger C. It's like David Icke said he had a friend text him a picture of the long time consuming airport style security checkpoint for a Neil Diamond concert. Most of the attendees where in there 60s & up. His friend said to the older gentleman in front of him "can you believe this is what we have too go through just too see Neil Diamond?", the man replied "well, they gotta keep us safe from the terrorists!". David said society has been engineered through constant fear mongering to accept as normal, what in the 60s & 70s no one would have ever put up with. He said if they tried the intrusion on personal rights back then like they do today, there would of been a revolution! And whatever your opinion of Mr. Ike, he's 100% correct. Saying you are just deliberately trying to fail her should be just as bad as just trying to pass her and why can't she be allowed to answer how fast she can run 100? This is just as bad as what is happening in school systems that are lowering standards to pass students while the best and brightest are overlooked. Police are not in a position to protect public safety when they are too interested in politics rather than qualifications. This same thing has happened to Canadian Legislature The PM insisted half the cabinet be female " because it's 2016" and they also call those with opposing views Neanderthals or Nazis to avoid accountability for their own unethical behaviour. If you really want to end sexism have the same expectations for both genders and the best person gets the job. That should eliminate racial issues also. Do not even ask age or gender or race on the test and see who qualifies as best.

IF YOU FAIL, WE FAIL. That is the one denominator that P.C morons never seem to bring into account. I mean its encouraging to say "Let's allow anyone from transgender, to even almost unfit physical people or mentally challenged to serve on the front line to defend us and protect us because its wrong to say that some of their characteristics may be a danger or distraction." For the most part, the number of people in those groups they want to be on those front lines may very well do well and be an asset. But what these same types who want to make the challenge of becoming an officer or soldier easier for these people to join in order to be inclusive on the front line is that if they fail, the person next to them does as well, same with those these people are put in place to protect. And to quote a logical quote, that's a hell of a price for being stylish.

The part you miss on your very biased comment is that these very people would only be selected for their suitability to complete tasks within that job position. robert till In theory you are right. However, the what has happened in the case of even women applying for the marines, though correct me if I am wrong, the original level of standard to enter was dropped in or at least has been asked to drop in order to make it easier for people who would normally NOT be able to meet the standard to now meet the new standard. That is one of the issues I have. If you are man, woman, trans or whatever and CAN meet the high standard of physical, mental endurance to be allowed to serve in said position, then by all means. But if the bar is being asked to drop in order to make enrolment "Fair" for certain people, then I am sorry, but being fashionable to allow someone in is nothing short of dangerous and disrespectful to the people that have come before.
@roberttill3787
@roberttill3787 6 жыл бұрын
in principal i agree with you, but the entry standard itself, previously has not been tailored to be fair to everybody, but to the musclebound types who would be the only person capable of completing the exam. robert till I hear what you are saying, but don't forget, we are talking about the position of a soldier and officer of the law. This is not so much a "Job opportunity" this is a position of social and public safety. These people are out there to fight and to win and to protect the lives of other who cannot do for themselves. They are given that task on the basis that they will deliver the best result with the least amount of casualties. And as a former soldier myself, I for one want to make sure that the person beside me was the best possible at the job of fighting along side me and not just there to be fair. The enrolment is hard because its supposed to be that way. The person on the other end of the war is not there to play fair, they are there to kill you and those around you.

I'm female & I totally agree. (My profile pic is a laughing Ted Kaczynski, not me). No man with that skill level would ever be allowed to perform the job, and no woman should, either. But I have a little story about Equal Opportunity, too. I have a master's in physiology & was a research associate for the Olympic Committee. I was the #1 pick that year. #2 was female. #3 was female. Numbers 2 and 3 were passed over because they had to have a man as the other research associate, even though that idiot didn't even have his master's, just a BA. AND he was fat & ugly & far from fuckable, but even if he had been, I would gladly have traded him for someone, male or female, who could actually do the job. The woman who was #2 was of course not informed that because of EO her job was given to someone else. So you see, men haven't cornered the market on this sort of thing. It's horrible that that woman felt that fucking her team in lieu of doing a job well was the right thing to do. She was helping to prevent women from being taken seriously enough to be adequately trained. She should have been arguing hard for NO DIFFERENCE IN SKILL SET for a particular job based on gender, and trying to prove that women can do it equally well. Unfortunately, there are women like that. Believe me when I tell you that she and women like her are an embarrassment to all of us, and there are many. All I'm saying is: don't assume that all women are like that, and don't assume there are no women who believe we live in a meritocracy.

Several years ago I did a ride along with a 6 year veteran Deputy Sheriff. I rode with him on a 3-12 Saturday pm shift. The calls were mostly minor issues. Lady heard a noise in her garage, kid got his cap stolen by neighborhood kids, and citizens report a broken window. The area had 1-2 homeless if that. He told me there had been a scam ongoing for the last few years. Young women 21-25 joined and after 2-3 years hated the job and applied for a stress disability, and they were getting them. That means you get 50% of your salary for life and it is tax free. A department psychologist was giving the green light to al these female deputies. After several of these, the dept changed psychologists who then denied most claims. The deputy I rode with, was really annoyed he did not learn about that scam early on, because he hated his job.

In 1993 I applied to LAPD. They held the written test in a large portable on the academy grounds. Prior to the test, a Sergeant came out and told us the city council had mandated racial and sex based quotas. I don’t remember the exact breakdown he wrote on the board. It consisted of white, asian, hispanic and black males and then just non-specific “females”. He said 30% of the new hires had to be female. I looked around the room, which contained at least two hundred people, and counted less than twenty women. Unless they murdered someone, I bet all of them got a job. Me, a white male honorably discharged veteran with a degree in Criminal Justice,; turned down for getting the boot at a part time second job. For doing as I was told. Go figure.

Someone above mentioned in their experience female cops tend to suffer from "short man syndrome". Overcompensating with aggressive tactics. This is sensible. Part of what a cop does is put fear (and via fear, respect) in the heart of the citizen they have to keep in line. If you are a massive hulk, like it or not, the average person will not tangle with you. You can talk softly because your knuckles talk for you. And, also, the gun on your belt doesn't have to do as much talking. As we look at all the "unnecessary" shootings going on now, you can trace that back to the fact that even male cops are instructed by people with law degrees (who are just passing along what a bunch of limp wristed, ivy tower judges have made the law of the land) that they can't whup some ass if they need to in order to get some respect. If you have to physically detain someone, you have to do it with kit gloves on. The criminals know this. So the fear and respect aren't there. And the intervention gets escalated up pretty quickly to bullets. The woman cop who acts like a rabid dog to put fear into someone may or may not be effective. Plenty of thugs will consider it a challenge they want to take, and again, the intervention escalates to bullets.

This is why America is failing in virtually every aspect. They hire on quotas for race and gender and the best candidates get shown the door. Look at the education system and government. It's happening more in the private sector also. The best candidate is the best because of their performance, not their skin color or gender. The way we do it now is insanity.

Maybe start watching something more than jew-ran news networks which feed you only blacks getting killed. There are tons of videos of white cops killing even unarmed innocent whites in the US. Wasnt there recently a case in a hotel or something, where a cop with an assault rifle made a young guy crawl towards him in the most retarded way, giving him contradicting orders and then shot him like 5 times from 1 meter for failing that (he was a bit drunk). That gets swept under the rug or people like you just say "but that is an exception" and continue your rant about poor armed, aggressive blacks getting what they had coming. Obviously its not about the race, but media would like you to think otherwise, you fucking puppet.

So obviously Hitler didnt do as promised. And then the fucking Soviets "liberated" us so that was like half a century of possible progress lost, we were just another concrete part of the USSR. I bet that you are a white male yourself, maybe you will deny that you are a hetero, but still, why are you so cucked? What made you turn against fellow countrymen? You know what you do? Moral of the story : If you go for a promotion at work, you better make DAMN SURE that you are QUALIFIED to do that job, and not expect it to be handed to you, just to make some EEOC quota. No clue whatsoever how this country go so politically correct in the first place. Any and all work promotions are supposed to be based on the performance and qualifications of the employee, regardless of sex, race, creed, color or orientation. This is partially why the country is in the shape it's in now...because promotions are being literally GIVEN to less than qualified applicants, just because 'we need more women, or blacks, or Asians' or whatever minority you can think of.
@bodaciouscowboy
@bodaciouscowboy 7 жыл бұрын
Ideally that's how it would be, but the fact is that in the past, qualified people were often passed over for promotions or not hired because of their sex, race, creed, color or orientation. That's why quotas and equal employment opportunity laws were established, because it's hard to make people stop being prejudiced. Having said that, I do agree that jobs and promotions should not be given to someone who is unqualified just to meet a quota, so Harry was right to be tough on this woman who had only ever held a desk job.
@christian4u69
@christian4u69 7 жыл бұрын
bodaciouscowboy That's at least part of the reason this country is as bad off as it is. Because everyone is so worried about being politically correct and not making other people upset, and unqualified people get raises and promotions because of it. IMHO, this is why ALL of the 'quota laws' and EEOC laws need to be repealed. If the best (or only) qualified person for a promotion is a white man, why should it be his problem? That just means that men of other races, and all women need to step up their game to get the next promotion.

Correction: There were SUSPICIONS people were being passed over for identity. There was crybullying about it, until it became institutionalized that some races would be given SPECIAL TREATMENT, while others would be penalized, based solely on identity. Try telling an Asian college applicant how reasonable it is that he suffers a 300-point SAT handicap, so some inner city kid making Cs in math can occupy his seat in the auditorium.
@christian4u69
@christian4u69 7 жыл бұрын

Then, standards are NOT the problem as the cream would rise to the top anyway. Rather, we are addressing bias...and that is EXACTLY what this (incomplete) clip and entire movie demonstrates. Because the female officer was never let out of desk duty, she could never demonstrate her skills (as she does right after this clip is cut short!). The point is, if there is no bias and standards are appropriate for the position, then people will fall in naturally. (ie - some male nurses are fantastic...but if you forced me as a female to become a nurse, I would fail miserably on many levels!) lol Just live and let live!

Dearest David, you wish to stop racial and gender discrimination via Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action is, at it's very core, racial and/or gender discrimination. Lets say we have 3 White guys and all of them are deserving of the position in question but we have 1 Black Guy and well, that position just got filled by the black guy because we HAVE to have the black guy to meet the quota. The only way to correct decades of racism is to wait for the racist-heavy generations to fade out, not to shove racism-oriented solutions down everyone's throat. One of the key reasons our nation currently is suffering is because a significant chunk of the power-base(The major business owners and members of the political parties) are the 70+ year old white men who were raised with the belief that they are white men so they're superior. You can't force a racist to not be racist
