A Quick breakdown of Matt Herms coloring style

To explain better when shading do not use darker tones of the base color , use different colors , for Red use purple as the shade , for pink use red, for blue also use Violet, for yellow use orange , highlights same thing use pink as light for a base purple ect

For White use a light blue Cyan for shading , not gray
