What's important to understand in seeing the splitting into smaller and more duketoms is the different German inheritance customs. In the west where the Franks lived it was Frankish custom, which meant that everything was divided between all legitimate sons equally, while in the north and east it was Saxon customs, according to which only the eldest inherited everything. Hence the splintering was much more prevalent in the middle and west and eventually the Saxon colonies in the eastern mark (Austria) and Brandenburg/ Pomerania (Slavic areas conquered and ruled by the saxons) became the dominant players.

Can you describe how Prussia works in all this European puzzle. And also how does their royalty work? Didn’t German royalty become part of British Royalty
@nifrain94942 жыл бұрын
before you spread the concept of "national identity" and germans "being minorities in their bigger cities" here are some facts. 30% of german people are slavs. every tenth is the descendant of jews. and many more ethnicities are mixed in like romanic people. there is no pure germans no pure poles no pure irish this is only what nationalists who always need an enemy tell you. there is no reason the people in germany over time can grow together and build a cultural identity. but of course if there is always sb saying "you believe in different prophet you have different hair color you are my enemy" this will be harder. back then it was the jews and gypsies, but I guess its always easy to find a new minority to pick on...

They absolutely have a right to keep Germany German. Everyone knows Europeans are related to each other. A somali living in germany is not German, just like we don't consider elon musk to be an African American even though hes from south africa. Atleast South Africa under apartheid was a much safer and economically prosperous nation than what it is today. The migrant crisis in Europe has done the opposite to once great nations. It is a third world invasion that has been forced on Europe by treasonous politicians who never wished to represent Europeans, like Merkel.

I was about to commend you for this video. Most of it is really accurate and as good as possible for a 15-minute video. However, perhaps also in hindsight, the "migration crisis" you address at the end starting in 2015 wasn't really that much of an issue in Germany. The problems have been exaggerated a lot, especially by right-wing movements seeing their chance to incite unrest. And as a German myself, I don't feel threatened in my national identity by migration. Perhaps that is something most Germans have learned from the recent past. Tribal/ethnical identity isn't really what identifies me as a German. For me, it's our constitution and shared values.

Hey really enjoyed the video but I don't know how you came to the conclusion that Germans are minorities in their own country... Berlin is the largest city in Germany and has the largest ratio of foreigners to German born citizens of all the large cities. At the end of 2018 some 748,000 of Berlin's 3,700,000 residents were registered as foreigners. So essentially 2,500,000 more people would've had to immigrated to Germany and all moved to Berlin just to make Germans a very slight minority in that one city... but nothing even close to that has happened?
@Siegbert854 жыл бұрын
They wouldn't need to be foreigners which only means that they haven't yet acquired German citizenship. You can have a migrational background while having German citizenship.

Oh stop it with your Germanophobic Polish inferiority complex. I know that many of you hates us, but at least stay by the facts. The first mentioning of a German king was in the 11th century "rex teutonicum" and the native word "diutscher" was used since at least the early 12th century. In Latin, Deutsch was allready used in 788 "quod theodisca lingua herisliz dictum" meaning "known in the language of the people as herisliz". In the Annolied from 1090 there was "diutischin liute" meaning "German people". King Otto during the battle of Lechfeld used "theodiske" for the many people from the stem duchies, giving a early nationalistic boost in the Kingdom of Germany. There were allready calls in the 17th century to keep the German language pure, for example the "Teutscher Michel". Even before the fall of the HRE there were calls for a German state.
