Cool Laptop! I Have a IBM Thinkpad T23 Laptop Running Windows 95

Hey, I know you are more about the classic IBM ThinkPads, but might try asking anyway. Some time ago I bought my first Thinkpad - X200. It had a bad battery and was overheating.. kinda? It was just turning off randomly and as if in an emergency, but the processor didn't seem to overheat from my test. At some point it started having problems booting up. It would work as usual, but booting into anything (even bios) took like 10 minutes. And a brand new 9 cell battery that I bought was discharging from 20% -> 5% in like 5 minutes on idle. Was this just a bad apple? Is X200 a bad model?

Turning off randomly is often a heat issue. Might need to replace the thermal paste. If that doesn't work I'd recommend replacing the whole heat sink and fan. I don't have any experience with the X series so that's all I can recommend. For batteries I recommend only buying OEM(Lenovo made) because after market batteries are unreliable

@@os2kouhai331 Still unclear with the long booting thing, but thanks anyway

@@peonerovv1770 My mom has an X200 that I bought for her about 10 years ago (it was already used at that point). She has been using that laptop ever since, with zero issues. Only thing that had to be replaced was the cpu cooling fan last year as it started to rattle. Extremely reliable laptop, so something is not right with your specimen. I remember I had to disable quick-boot in Windows 8.1 to make it boot faster (I know it seems counter intuitive, but that's how it was, just like on my T60). Also your "brand new" 9 cell battery is probably one of those eBay cheapo, third party batteries, right? They literally last for 30-60 minutes, even brand new (don't fall for the "A++ quality cells" marketing crap, they like to put on their ads, they don't mean anything). And new old stock genuine batteries are extremely old now, most of them dead just from being over discharged sitting unused for 10+ years.

@@kosztaz87 well geez thanks. I guess it is just my problem. Oh well

@@peonerovv1770 I've had laptops where removing the battery completely solved my overheating issues. Even if I was plugged into the socket normally, the battery would still overheat, and the battery didn't hold any charge either.
