The irony of a reissue of a non existent amp is not lost here. May be a tribute to a blond period mix would have been closer to the mark . As entertaining as ever.

Happy Fathers Day Lyle, I have three children that are grown now. I couldn’t imagine having children now…the costs alone are just insane..! Great video on that “quasi” Fender reissue amp that never existed. Same old problems from the same old IC brand caps that Fender continues to use to this very day. Keep the great content. I dig each and every upload..!

The original Vibroverb was a tan/wheat color with harmonic vibrato (tremolo) and 2 x 10 inch speakers. It was the first Fender combo amp with tremolo and reverb built in.

I have one of these. I bought a used one more than 20 years ago without doing any research and simply on the basis of the name “Vibrolux” (because of that old amp’s association with early Mark Knopfler). In its original state it would start to break up at around 4. But about 7 years ago I took it to a great amp tech in Phoenix named Lowell Hunt who modded it for increased headroom and brought it closer to the Vibroverb circuit; something he did also disconnected the “normal” (i.e. non-bright) channel from the reverb and vibrato, though I cannot remember why that was necessary. At any rate, it’s much more usable and blackfacey than it was in its original state.

I have one of these. It had issues when i first bought it new in 2012, one trip to an authorized fender repair shop and it sounded better than it did originally. No hiss. Just tonez

I had one of these amps and thought it sounded great after I replaced the stock speakers with a pair of Webers. But then I was able to buy a 1970 Vibrolux Reverb and that was better for me.

I'm looking for a video that you pulled. It was another Custom Vibroverb. Anyway I could get a copy of it. I am doing some work on a CVR.

I love that. Ah, Fender. A very silly company.

I understand that this amp have reduced negative feedback, so is it less clean than Deluxe reverb RI? Is the quality not as good since it is made in Mexico?

The tremolo may not be good on your amp, but on a healthy Custom Vibrolux Reverb the tremolo is the best Fender ever did IMO. Since it’s a power tube biasing tremolo, check the power tubes and the biasing of them. I ran NOS 6l6wgbs and it sounded phenomenal. Those amps do hiss a lot in stock form and there are “fixes” for that but they may not be helpful to the sound in some cases.

my version of this amp has reverb and tremolo on both channels (& the extra noise associated with Fender's way of doing this).

@1:48 up until you switch the cable This little strain right here.... I couldn't believe my ears....I believe is from the wonderfully pure and sublime song, _Take Me On and On_ by ElectricLight Orchestra, from the album _Secret Messages._ Now it could be Jeff snatched that bit from elsewhere, He's done it before. Is that where you got it from?

I was just futzing around but it kinda does sound like an ELO part.

Another Fender re-issue of an amp that isn't the same as the original is the '68 Custom Pro Reverb. The re-issue is a single channel, single 12" speaker model. Maybe they were trying to fill in the gap between the Deluxe Reverb and Vibrolux Reverb for someone who wanted more power than a 6V6 amp, but didn't want two 12" speakers and never used the "normal" channel. They probably should have called it something else.

Could’ve sworn mark knopflers signature amp is a brown face Vibrolux?
@nickk86504 ай бұрын
1961 specifically. Pretty sure brown face vibroluxes did exist. Not sure if this is what you’re referring to with blonde Vibrolux tho?

6G11A sure. But not blonde with reverb. www.retrofret.com/product.asp?ProductID=11468&name=Fender-Vibrolux-6G11A-Tube-Amplifier-1962
