"A woman named Sam finds herself trapped in New York City during the early stages of an invasion by alien creatures with ultra-sensitive hearing."
"A Quiet Place: Day One is a 2024 American apocalyptic horror film written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, based on a story he conceived with John Krasinski. It is the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series, serving as a spin-off and prequel to the first film. The film stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from the second film."

I really loved this movie! The creatures were as scary as ever and it was interesting seeing everything happen in a metropolitan environment rather than in an isolated town. I personally connected very much with Lupita’s character right from the beginning. Without spoiling it too much, I think the film tried to answer the question of “how important would the literal end of the world actually be when in some ways it feels like ‘your own personal world’ was already ending long before the aliens arrived?” Lupita’s journey felt deeply personal to me, and as random as the ‘side quest’ felt, the reason behind it really touched me and made me tear up by the end of the story. We also learn a tiny bit more about the creatures though I agree that we are overdue for a better understanding of how they originally came to invade the planet. Ultimately, I thought Day One was great and would rank it as my second favorite film in the series (after the first one). Thanks for the video, I enjoyed hearing your breakdown and look forward to more of your reviews.

Her quest is believable. The reason why is that she has already accepted her fate, she will die. She has one final thing she wants to do so she can die in peace, hence the reason she wanted to be on her own. Many people (who are dying) have final wishes, some are more simple like seeing their loved ones one more time, others are a lot more complex, it just depends on the person, whatever it may be, at least they can find peace before they leave.

*Spoilers* For me this feels more like a story of a dying woman who happens to be in an apocalyptic situation rather than a monster movie that looks at how the characters deal with the situation. It's a choice. It definitely felt more like an arthouse indi film rather than the blockbuster horror prequel I was expecting. It was a fine movie, but I rather wish we were following Djimon Hounsou's family instead. I just kept wanting to ask Lupito if she was expecting employees to be cooking pizza's when she arrived at Patsy's? It made no sense. Also, I could understand the guy was really traumatized from having drowned in the subway and chose to stick with her because of the cat, but why would you go back in the subway into the water then? The monsters don't follow people around--as long as you're quiet they'll go away. Why run from them into the subway?
