I agree this movie lacks logic but I have to touch up on the shotgun point since the waterfall has alret been hit. The shotgun wasn't just effective against any monster. The face plate was torn apart from having a seizure to the high frequency. However it also raises the question as to why the military couldn't get them with automatic rifles as the face plate was opened to listen for sounds. Also I call Bullshit on bombs not working for the mere fact of the power they have but also at least SOME of the creatures would have been trying to listen or actively face spasming as bombs hit therefore removing their armor. Also also also. When the fuck do these things sleep? Are they nocturnal, are they diurnal? They seem to not only be fully awake at any moment but also at least one is never any further than like 300-400 feet away.

When they do that, they're completely still which would be a perfect opening for a shot to the head. But, whatever... the perfect time seems to be when they're spazzing the f#ck out.

Chris Toro since we didn't get to see what happened in the early going, let's think for a minute. What we do see is a world decimated by these creatures. They are hunting individuals that are actively hiding from them. So they open their faceplates to listen more intently. There would be no need for that early on as people didn't know they track by sound. Fighting the military is noisy, no need to listen intently. Bombs aren't going to make their faceplates open up. That only happened at a specific frequency, and even then only when amplified. As for sleeping, who knows? Maybe they don't. And to the close proximity? There were three creatures in the area, likely because they knew there were people in the area. They heard noises periodically, and slowly closed in on the exact location. Thus, they were always nearby. We see two scenes where people sacrifice themselves by screaming, and the creatures are on top of them immediately. One is the dad, and the creature was right there. The other is the old man. His wife had just been killed, so obviously the creatures were still nearby.

Oh, that nail drove me crazy. Why was that fucking nail there in the first place? It was nailed FROM THE BOTTOM UP. No construction worker on the planet would do that because it makes 0 sense. Also, the fucking nail served no purpose. It was sticking into the middle of the step. It didn't connect anything together. Finally, after she snagged the sack on the nail, she didn't even decide to check out what might have snagged it. Literally nothing about that nail made a lick of sense. Can't make noise to hammer or pry it out? Stick a cork or something else silent on the nail that shouldn't exist to prevent stepping on it. That was my biggest qualm with the movie, but not even close to the only one. This film was FAR too over-hyped. Great concept and story, but poorly written and executed.

Yes, same! My brother and I watched it and (not meaning to be judgy here) after it finished we had sooo many issues with it, and I was really surprised I hadn't heard anything from anybody about how they felt there was inconsistencies or some unbelievable things. It was beautifully filmed and acted, but near the end the stuff I didn't believe piled up to take the oomph out of a very oomphy ending. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought this. Our biggest issues were the nail on the step - how steps are made don't predispose them to nails sticking UP in that way. The kids were being absolutely quiet in the car, but the monster was still tracking them. And then he decides to yell, instead of throw something which is something that we've proven is effective...

The fact that the monsters seem to be omniscient is one of the biggest flaws, it doesn't seem to matter where you are, make a slight noise and a monster is on you in seconds. How are they literally everywhere? We already have Sonic weapons and the moment we realised they hunt by sound we'd have the upper hand. Setting up static noise at high frequencies that humans can't hear but the creatures can to basically blind them, then just mop them up whilst they're confused, it's basically the same principle as a flashbang for a human only it would be like constant flash bangs going off.

Nothing is great about this move premise and idea (bar the technical and artistic skill put in the writing and making). The idea and premise are horrendous, monsters implausible, medieval humanity would be more effective in defending itself, and so on. I have a feeling that Krasinski draw all the hype and praises with his standing in Hollywood and charisma. Sequel is criminal, and only Day One could be on to something because it seems more action oriented.

I just watched this movie 10 minutes ago just finished, this statement does not hold any water whatsoever because that baby was one of the most silent babies I’ve ever seen in existence considering you’re saying it’s an evolutionary trait clearly this baby devolved for plot and that nail being in the middle of that staircase, literally serves no purpose, but to drive the plot forward, and the fact that she immediately screamed a split second after the firework went off. These are my solutions/answers to the problems that you brought up: Waterfall problem: Them not living next to the waterfall/river was to prepare their kids for the future, because if they are allowed to make a sound then they might keep making noise, but if they wander off too far from the waterfall/river and make a sound it's game over, so they are teaching them the way of the world they live in, although them with the baby is definitely a bad choice on their part and they should have stayed at the waterfall for the baby, Shotgun/gun problem: In the movie there was a scene where the mother went into the basement and it showed all of these Newspapers and his research and all of that stuff, and in one of the news papers it said that we basically can't harm them, "not bullets, not bombs! Armor is impenetrable!" So nothing they tried worked on them, not machine guns, probably some tank rounds, explosives, none of that worked, but a measly shotgun working? Come on, and the ending where it did work if because that thing was having a massive seizure from the noise being caused by the hearing aid, and that things head was just pulsating and stuff which caused the armor to be spread out leaving openings, then when the vulnerable flesh/tissue underneath was shown THEN it could be killed, And the father probably brought the axe as a distraction, like when he dropped it and then it made a noise which got the monsters attention, I think that an axe would be far more expendable than a shotgun would be, Government Problem (There is A LOT to cover in this one): While I hear MANY people complaining about how the government/scientists not doing anything to try and stop the monsters using sounds, you need to realize that it's not like they immediately knew this, I mean they probably thought the monsters just knew they were where they were like maybe they have eyes that they couldn't see or whatever, but then they did learn that the monsters couldn't see and they needed sound (which was shown in the Newspaper with the headline "Silence is Safety"), and it's not easy not making ANY sound at all which obviously would have attracted the monsters and killed everybody there, even walking can cause them to hear you, which is why the father placed down sand everywhere, to cancel out the noise, And also keep in mind that when the movie begins it takes place during day 89, and and at that time it was basically a ghost town where they were, there was no electricity, no tv's working, no radios, nothing at all from the outside world, so in less than 3 MONTHS America was basically DESTROYED BY THOSE THINGS, and since this was shot in Upstate New York it is entirely possible it takes place there, and it's likely that do to this that America WAS destroyed since I heard somewhere they first landed in Mexico, and to get from Mexico to Upstate New York you'll have to go through basically everything else, but it's not like they were on a set path to Upstate New York, so they were likely going in all directions sound came, which would basically be in all directions do to how good they are at hearing, And what COULD the government do? The monsters have been shown to easily tear through people, and even tearing through metal like butter, and as I mentioned before they are completely unaffected by our weaponry, so they couldn't really shoot them to death, can't blow them up either them either, And it is entirely likely that the Military/Government from A Quiet Place probably didn't have the time to listen to some rambling scientist, and it's not like they'd know which sounds to even use, and even if they did it's not like they can repeat the experiment if the experiment fails (which they quite possible DID), since everyone doing the experiment would have been killed by the monsters, and it's not like everyone is going to risk their lives with a 99% chance of death to try and test some magic whistle or radio frequency when an unstoppable death machine is right in front of them, and they can't drive to their destination, since the monster would hear the car, and it is likely theres car pile ups everywhere, and walking on foot would take too long, and walking can cause the monsters to hear the experimenters and they'd die before they even get to test anything out, and unpacking such equipment would obviously cause noise, which would attract the monsters to them, and then they die anyways, Also I highly doubt the government didn't send out any warnings on TV to stay absolutely quiet, otherwise the Newspapers wouldn't have said that either, so they definitely did, but this movie takes place AFTER the monsters have basically "taken over" and there is no more television or much radio broadcasting, which is why we didn't get to see any of those warnings,

Simple solution, stay at the waterfall, don't have a baby, the dad hunts alone. Also, don't write a waterfall into a script for a movie about creatures that have super hearing. It kind of foiled the illusion of that concept of 'nowhere is safe'. You can teach your kid how to survive at the water fall more apropriately since teaching their youngest son outside of it didn't seem to work. He died anyway, a more effective teaching method would be to speak to him. As far as the future, having speech would seem like a good skill to pass down, which brings up the scene where their middle child clearly never knew about the waterfall life hack. Like the father was keeping it a secret for some strange reason. This isnt hate for the movie, it's an alarm that common sense isn't in this movie.

Simple Solution: Stay at the Water Fall: Yeah, Don't have a baby: Yeah (although the waterfall would probably cancel out the bases noise, but the world they are in now is not place for a baby), The Dad Hunts Alone: For the time being yeah, but if something happens to the dad then the son would have to be able to know how to provide in some way for the family, While the waterfall definitely would have helped in their survival, it's not like they could constantly live right under the waterfall, as that is where they were yelling, so they'd have to live a short distance away from it, if they were right next to it then talking would be an issue because of the loud noise the waterfall makes cancelling out their own noise, and they'd have to speak louder, but the louder they are the better the monsters might hear them, And if they lived next to the river then they'd still have to be careful because if they make a noise louder than the river itself then the monsters would hear it and come after them, Also it is entirely possible they might stay away from it for safety, since there are bad people in the world, and since the waterfall/river is such a good idea they wouldn't be the only ones to have that idea, and the easiest place to get away with mugging someone for their supplies is in a place where the monsters don't hear them, so it's not like an intruder could break down the door and say "give me everything you've got or I'll shoot you" without being cut in half soon after, While they could "teach" them at the waterfall better since they can talk, it isn't very appropriate to communicate with voice when not at the waterfall, since they'd probably be talking more than signing, Speech would be very useful IF we ever got to talk again, otherwise the sign language master race will reign supreme for the next however long it takes those monsters to die out if ever, I would really hope you wouldn't hate the movie, and since you don't thats nice, and while they definitely could have done a few things better, "common sense" can lead to certain mishaps and in a world of indestructible monsters, mishaps are not very good in any way

I think the part of them being invulnerable to all forms of physical damage doesn't really make sense, yes they're armor is extremely durable but it being impenetrable lacks a lot of logic, such hard material can only take so much before it shatters from sheer pressure from anti tank or armor piercing projectiles, taking a direct hit from a tank sabot round is nearly impossible to stop as it is designed to penetrate very thick layers of solid armor, yes I know they're from another world but the armor they have was not designed to be resistant to these types of things as even the momentum of such large projectiles would still cause internal damage because the energy released by them has to go somewhere it doesn't just disappear. When it also comes to the frequencies, the military would usually be using radios having a very wide range of frequencies which eventually the monsters would open up to as seen in the movie, other frequencies would also affect the monsters so the fact that the world was easily taken over doesn't really makes sense in a way unless they overpowered everyone by sheer numbers.(correct me if I'm wrong in any way)

+RandomPerson101 Well that energy that you said has to go somewhere, it was probably reduced by friction, and the creatures flying into something (It said they are invincible, not immovable), and since this material is organic even if it did break at some point it could be so hard that not enough can be done to that same area before it gets filled back in, While the monsters might open up to the military frequencies, that doesn't mean it would hurt them, and the sounds of whatever vehicle they were using to get wherever probably attracted the monsters before the radio did, any noise at all would attract the monsters and everyone in that area doing whatever project would be cut to pieces, if you can think of a way for them to do whatever it is with frequencies without dying please let me know, and I will see if it would work or not, by pointing out everything possible that would make noise, Also I am pretty sure that the girls hearing aid was causing a feedback loop, which kept going back and forth and it hurt the monsters, a simple way to put it was that a sound was going into an amplifier, and the amplified sound was going into something else, and then the amplified sound went back into the amplifier, and the sound kept getting amplified over and over again in a way which hurt the monsters, Also not everyone is suicidal enough to try and perform tests on those things, I mean they can tear through people as easily as they can metal, so containment would not be easy, bullets and bombs can't hurt them, so self defense is not possible either, there just isn't an effective way to do any of those things on them, those things tore through billions of people before someone finally got it right, but they are in the middle of nowhere and cannot tell anyone since no one is listening,

It's Ya Boi Daniel Very solid facts their, but their anatomy is not completely defined in the movie so we may never truly know what actually happens when an anti tank projectile hits their armor, not saying I'm correct in this area but I'm pretty sure nothing is naturally resistant to such things especially in such a primitive like creature, they also never mention how air support failed to take down these things especially aircraft delivering very heavy payloads on these creatures, I understand that their armor does in fact take very large and massive amounts of blunt force with ease but even with armor that quickly builds up an armor piercing tank shell is designed to have two stages one where it disintegrates the armor and two is where the explosive part is inserted and detonated, such large amounts of energy concentrated in one spot especially from such a large projectile in less than a second is not easily overcomed, so it doesn't really completely make sense in my prospective, but I am open to any corrections

This movie did not happen in 3 days. Did you miss the cut scenes with the (89 days) when the kid died ? And the 500-something days around the pregnancy ? There were NOT "eight monsters" at the end. There were 2. There were only 3 known in the area. 3-1=2. Yes there WAS one SPEAKER. but the hearing aid by itself also affected them. The SPEAKER just made it a lot louder and more effective. "Glocked her gun" ? Is that some newfangled slang for racking the slide ?

It was indeed a stupid movie, with lots of plot holes, but you seem to have not understood a lot of what was going on. Helium? Jesus. It was either air or oxygen to make sure the baby could breathe in the box.

You do know that there is 3 monsters in their area. It is on the board in the move. Also the high frequency doesn't necessarily damage the armour it self but it makes it sort of disconnect where the guns would be effective. So after they killed the first monster 2 more come and they may or may not die from them but the mother and daughter know the monsters weakness. This does not mean that there are only 3 in the USA but in there town. However you did make good points about people not knowing there weakness and a few more points. You just made a few mistakes.

You have made a lot of points here that are easily debunked with basic logic. You talked about the waterfall so much that I thought you were sponsored by niagara falls. The waterfall is a good area to stay in, you can make all the sound you want and everything works out. At the same time you have no shelter to work with and from what we were told the monsters live in the woods so you would essentially be surrounded all the time. Staying where they were gave them some ability to fight back as opposed to sitting at the waterfall and waiting to die. Sitting at the waterfall is poor story telling, "hey everyone do you want to watch a movie about a family who sits near a waterfall, out of danger, living out their days? Do you want to pay $13 for 90 minutes of that?" Sitting at the waterfall serves no purpose. Next point, there were three monsters. That ending was well done well, they couldnt find a weakness because they couldnt get close to the monsters. They had to do it from afar, that is made perfectly clear in this movie. It is so evident in this movie that it pains me to have to spell it out. Once they figured out the weakness at the end they knew what to do and they killed it. You talk about them hitting the speaker but that first monster couldnt handle the sound on low volume where he had it. When you see her turn up the volume you know it ends well, that is clear. The gov't not being effective arguement can have a case made for it but anyone bothering to do that is grasping at straws. Chris I like your other videos I get you didnt like the film, but I have to disagree with you on this one. This video smells of being contrarian and doesnt work for me.

Essentially they made a movie that didn't make sense to make a movie that was remotely thrilling. I get it, you wouldn't have a movie if they lived near the waterfall. But making a movie that makes no sense is worse off than to make a movie with logic. There was one thing he was wrong about, the waterfall served one purpose, to explain to the viewer that louder sounds cancel out quiter sounds, so the mom could give birth. Other than that, it was pointless. Still, not a good movie, over hyped. I was actually intrigued by the movie, but then disappointed in the execution.

kasaruukii the movie makes perfect sense. They already lived at the farm, so they fortified it. Moving to the woods near a waterfall makes no sense. Building a shelter, hauling everything they need to build the shelter, all the noise that would come along with that. They'd be killed long before they set up a homestead.

You really never paid attention to any of the movie. Beau(the youngest son) can understand sign language. The father told Beau not to take the Rocket ship toy taking out the batteries first to make sure the toy didn't go off when he put it down. Beau doesn't take the toy with him until Regan(the deaf girl) gives him the toy without the batteries not realizing Beau took the batteries as well. The reason the wife and husband decide to have another child is to give hope to the family and "move" on from the loss of their youngest son Beau. The mask put on the baby is an oxygen mask so the baby can breathe while in the box which is fully soundproof, the basement is also soundproofed by sandbags, rags, pillows, even newspapers and other forms of soundproofing. Regan goes off to grieve because she believes that her father does not love her because she gave her younger brother the rocket ship and was unable to hear him behind her. The family's concern during day 89 was the second child(the middle son) who was sick which is the only reason the family even left their farm to travel to the abandoned town to visit the pharmacy to find medication and other supplies they could have needed. Regan leaving her pregnant mother at the house to go off on her own, while stupid at first, makes sense. The baby was earlier than expected, way earlier like almost a full 3 weeks early. None of the family could have predicted that the mother would go into labor while doing the laundry. It's also when the mother is doing the laundry that the nail on the stairs is pulled up and exposed, the mother didn't realize or forgot that the nail was pulled up either because she didn't see the nail or because of the surprise and pain of an early labor made her forget. Also they didn't choose to move to that farm, that was their original home before the aliens even fell onto Earth, they lived there before the "invasion" and had no idea that aliens would be invading Earth in the near future. The parents couldn't have lived near the river or the waterfall because where would they live? In the trees, that would require that they build a house or some form of shelter which would required they chop wood or trees down to get the building materials needed to do so which would have made a lot of noise even if it's near the waterfall, not all the noise would be covered by the falls, some sound would have escaped and traveled to where the aliens were and then they'd be dead sooner. Next time you make a video pointing out supposed problems of a movie, do research first and pay more attention to what's going on in every scene of the film first!

2:40 It was reveled in the second movie that it was oxygen. Because Marcus (the son) had to use it to breathe and so did the mother. And the dads name is lee. Also, the shotgun only works when they use the high-pitched sound. you are just making assumptions and never really paid attention to the movie like I did.

This video is beyond ridiculous! First of all, they’re only human? Humans make mistakes but as their youngest was only four years old’ it is almost impossible to stop a child of that age from making noise as their minds are still extremely imaginative. The mother whose name is “Evelyn” played by Emily Blunt even mentioned “she should of carried him” when she was with her husband underground whose name was “Lee” played by John Krasinski (also real life husband to Emily) indicating that they made a mistake letting him walk at the back of the line and knowing how young he was at the time to not be fully aware of the dangers that lurked around them. Second of all, preventing pregnancy is by far hard when they don’t necessarily have a doctor to go to prevent it or have an abortion. I also believe having a child was helping them with the grief and loss of their youngest whose name was “Beau” and knowing what they know after the traumatic experience to take extra action to protect this child. It’s even showed that they tried soundproofing an underground shelter for this baby’s arrival to keep him say and Infact the the baby mask included oxygen for the child to be able to breathe when the box was covered to prevent loud sounds for the creature to hear. Life wasn’t over for this family and they did what they had to to protect themselves and make their life adjustable not only for the parents but for their children. Thirdly, Evelyn was going into labour and as she went down into the basement to switch the lights to indicate to her family she was having the baby, she stood on a nail on the stairs not knowing it was there which leased to her dropping a photo frame she had in her hand and alerting the creatures. Earlier before this the reason the nail was their was because her washing bag got stuck on “something” in Evelyn’s mind properly the stair case and as she pulls the nail bends up. She wasn’t aware their was a nail as she left but as shown when you steps on it she is going into labour and is more concerned to getting to safety for contractions but doesn’t make it there in team which leads her to the bathroom upstairs. SHE DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO FIX THE NAIL! Lee found her in the bathroom after giving birth and as he carried her to the underground cellar he patched up her foot because when she wakes up their is a bandage covering it for her which shows he clearly new she stepped on a nail. Whether she told him or not he would have been cautious on looking at her bloody foot steps that had blood and water on them. Towards the end she indicates to her kids not to step on the nail when walking them down the stairs. Thirdly, they can’t live near the waterfall seriously? There’s no houses near buy but that’s where they go for fish (a source for food). The farm house was there house before the invasion, they have adapted it to make it as quiet as a possible and the corn fields and silo are there food source once again making it easier to survive. Living near the waterfall would be risky to due to winter and how cold it would be, it’s not suitable! Yes they have electricity and windmills, primary used for the underground research room Lee used most often. I’m sure they used candles mostly because they wanted to still minimise the sound the electric lights can still sometimes portray. Candles are quiet. There’s more I can say but the primary purpose of this movie is about protecting your children and this movie is outstandingly done and how they’ve perceived it is wonderful and heart warming! You have to remember they’ve tried to make it as real as possible, they’re only human. They can’t do everything right. Xx

At the end of the day, I think a lot of people spend way too much time criticising really well-made movies. This has 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and everyone only has amazing things to say about it. We're not all stupid; it's a really good movie with a well-told story and great design. The message is the most important part of the film.

Gotta be honest I don't care about rotten tomatoe scores. It was a great concept, but it was predictable and just illogical at points. Having a child in that world is a bad idea, period. Some things in the movie just can't be defended, still a good concept for a film.
