They dont attack ambient or prolonged noise. Breathing is fine because its rhythmic, same for the generator or water. Its sudden or curt sounds that attract them, demonstrated with the crowd walking scene. The walking is fine, the luggage hitting rocks or wheelchairs that give them away.

Fun fact, before this movie, Lupita Nyong'o had NEVER worked with or even been _around_ cats. In fact, she was actually quite terrified of them. So Schnitzel (the cat who played Frodo) was actually the first time she'd dealt with a cat. Lupita mentioned in an interview she was awed at how friendly and sweet he was and how easily he could be handled.

I think Frodo the cat serves two purposes. He gathered those two on the dangerous journey. He goes on the end on a boat. Two, Frodo is also the mythos of a cat, Gate keeper of the underworld. The water underground can be seen as the river Styx. The dead must stay in the land of the dead. The living cannot stay in the land of the dead. Frodo helped give one peace before death by finding the man and gave the man guidance back to the living. Well what it looked like to me.

She gets emotional when the balloon pops because it signifies that nothing lasts, a theme throughout the film for her, how she has these happy moments she's clinging to, instead of learning to live in the moment with whatever time she has left. Which is why at the end of the film, she can embrace it all, she is ready to let go, to acknowledge "the balloon has popped"

Roanoke Gaming did a video on the science behind the Aliens here in a quiet place, and like, came to the conclusion that the military would probably be able to kill the aliens here because even though they have really really tough hides, their insides under their armour is squishy…and tank shells are essentially specifically built for penetration, even if the shells don’t penetrate the armour, their insides would be liquified to mush upon impact

Cats are predators. They're reflexes are quicker than a snake strike. When it comes to surviving, they adapt very well and very fast. And when it comes to their natural insists, they're silence killers. So, naturally they are silence survivors as well. Their silent hunting grounds/quickness/camouflage/sight is what makes them so dominate in general.

And 98% of cat species, while predator, aren't apex predators, and therefore are adept at not only preying on much smaller, weaker animals, but are also quite skilled in quickly avoiding/ escaping from the larger/more aggressive/ more powerful animals who do pose a risk to them (bears, large snakes, crocs, wolves, wolverines, hyenas etc) & therefore sometimes steal the cats prize... making it even more necessary that they be skilled hunters.

If Frodo was an adopted cat, it is plausible that he doesn't meow often. My favorite anecdotal experience is that there are 2 cats that often visits my neighbourhood. One stray, one feral. The stray one will, every single day without fail, at 6 a.m. on the dot, meows loudly until I get out of the house to feed him. The feral one usually wait for the stray one to get fed, before stealing some bits for herself. On the second month of doing this, I heard a very hoarse meow at 6 a.m. It was the feral one! She learns that the stray one meows and then I'll come feed him, so she tried to do the same. So if Frodo used to be a street cat, it's completely plausible that he doesn't really feel the need to meow unless he's very hungry. edit: grammar ;D

i genuinely liked this even if it's way different from quiet place 1&2. yeah, the part with frodo the cat isn't very realistic. cus he never fully reacted to the aliens near him. my 8 cats have different personalities, but i'm sure all would also be toast as well cus they'd hiss in retaliation or panic scurrying away. anyways, i think it still works because frodo is a unique addition to the film. and i actually agree it's like frodo is this benevolent spirit in cat form who is supporting sam and then eric after. plus, it tugged on my heartstrings, seeing how sam and eric helped one another.

Just listening to the description of this movie gives me a bit of anxiety. I was on Manhattan when the World Trade Center came down. I was living in Jersey so I had to walk through the city to get to the docks because all the bridges and trains were shut down. The whole city had become creepily quiet and the streets were empty of cars, just people walking in small groups. I still get worked up even all these years later when I think about it.

I came into this movie blindly without knowing its part of a bigger movie franchise. I love the humanity shown in the human characters. Its not a complete story. It show parts and snactches of something bigger. But it is still nice to watch. It is also the first movie in my lifetime where i feel i am watching a silent movie. The reason I think Sam got emotional during the puppet show was the symbolism. The balloon representing the hopes and dreams of the puppet (humanity) only to have it deflate, his descent representing those hopes dashed. Sam also being a poet and terminal would feel this especially hard. I kept wondering why Reuben would bring dying folks to see something so depressing lol.
