Nice idea on these solar powered movable cameras! 2:10in, Good thing he's a tall bloke! 2:50in Interloper caught already. Love chooks, never seen blue eggs, lookin forward to catchin them. Don't like Roosters, they seem to forget, they're supposed to crow at Dawn according to 'The Classics'. Sooner they are roasted the better, if theres a 'Next Gen' comin along! 4:40in Rattie probably has a family to feed. But then Ratty will probably bring the kids! Domesticated are better. 12:23in That ok Beagle169487 Boy, next time Eh!. Nice goin, lookin forward to the nextie. Keep up the good work.

Teach the pooches to chase the rats - Buddy is well on the way - good boy! My Lab hates them. While she doesn't catch them, they soon learn coming into the garden to steal from the bird feeders is not worth the risk. You can also get pet (and chicken) safe traps. But where's there's available food, pesky varmits will always find it. Thanks for sharing.

Your choices for new chickens are beautiful, especially the "lacy" black and white one. Last year about this time we set up security cameras because we couldn't figure out who was stealing roses from my bushes and cutting off the canes almost to the ground. Turned out it was either young opossums or raccoons. In the mean time we recorded some entertaining videos of: opossums (2), raccoons (a family of 4), skunks (2), cats (5 different ones), and coyotes (2). Birds fly right up to the cameras, and creeping spiders up close are great. I once caught "Tinkerbell", though it was probably a moth. When I was a kid, we had a Cairn Terrier, who would rip up an entire flower bed to catch a lizard. Looks like you are keeping up the momentum, while allowing yourselves a bit of fun.

I was making breakfast this morning and noticed what I first thought was a squirrel climbing up the pole with the bird feeders on it. I quickly realised it was actually a rat and shouted to my wife to come and see him doing, what could best be described as one of those Mission Impossible animal videos trying to get up onto the feeders. What we bought as squirrel resistant bird feeders turned out not to be rat resistant!

Here in England if you have security cameras then you have to have a sign in clear view saying that they are there so to hide them is pointless,i had cameras for the wildlife, foxes hedgehogs and bats there was hours of animal activity to watch,if you're seeing a rat its because it is hungry, they have more than one hole so block that hole up it may still come back though, cant wait to see the baby chicks

Buddy's a good boy ❤ I got a rat box from Amazon at a good price when I heard something running on my roof at night (I live in a bungalow), fortunately none of the poison was eaten as it turned out to be a neighbourhood cat taking a shortcut. I've now put it near were I feed the birds just in case.

@@theoldstationrenovationthe rat box you can monitor how much poison is being taken which means you can determine how many rats you are dealing with. The positive is that even if one rat eats it and dies in the nest, the other rats eat the dead rat and then get poisoned from the dead rat.

Personally, I would not show where cameras are or even mention their location to anybody let alone the www. Also, WiFi based cctv signals can be blocked by determined thieves so hard wiring is advisable where possible. Proximity lighting triggered by movement during darkness is advisable too especially on the driveway near entrance, etc to deter opportunists and night prowlers. Install a robust locking gate on the drive to prevent thieves loading up a pickup, truck or van with your materials.

We had a rat that loved our roof to live on and our orange tree to eat from. We had no luck in moving him on. Then one day he made an error and ran to the tree when the dog was out. The dog thought he was a toy. We only knew he was there because of our security cameras. We tried them in different areas to make sure where we wanted them. After a month or so we settled on 5 spots. Not everything it catches is security. Most of it is just funny.

You should have a security camera on your driveway, I would hide it so that it's not obvious.

Might not be exciting work but it all needs to get done toward the process. The cameras are cool.

I’m sure you have a plan, but I think I’d start off by hiring a chipper and clearing all the plants you don’t want, the longer you leave it the harder it will be. It would make it a bit more difficult for your rat friend, plus not needing to clear land every time you need to do something. Could also start on your lawns, so it’s growing while the house is restoring. Otherwise the house will be finished and then waiting another 3 years to use the yard…… I like watching yard clean ups lol

Kenny Rogers sung "you got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em" in The Gambler song, but I always thought it was more important to "know when to scaffold em". 8^) Your rooster needs a pep talk, he should be eliminating them, or at least kicking the rats out! 8^) Cheers! PS high voltage electrical traps are effective against rats.

Rats ,i hate them. You need a Jack Russel Terrier or a Patterdale terrier. Not the ones that are bred for pets ,the ones that are farm bred as ratcatchers. Oh by the way there is no such thing as a rat there are rats, Plenty of info on KZbin about haw fast these buggers breed. Thanks for vid. Later.
