Douglas I just want you to know you have been a true inspiration. I found you by chance googling suicide and came across your website. Your story was so identical to mine with having an adverse reaction to an antidepressant that sent me into a two year hell of depression and anxiety. Since then I've purchased your book , watch your videos. I'm still struggling on the medicine merry go round and even a round of TMS therapy, but your story and experiences and support has given me hope to keep going . I think you and Noah should be commended for helping so many people. Thankyou and God bless you. James

That quote is derived from a favorite quote of Winston Churchill's, "When Going Through Hell..Keep Going." A minister I know substituted "Don't Stop" for Keep Going. I liked the change and have been using that phrase ever since.

Douglas, I just can't stop watching this video of yours. I am in the 4th month of my greatest, darkest depression episode of my life. I recently started to feel better day by day - I think my medication started working - and these thoughts are giving me strenght and hope, that after this sad and dark chapter of my life, a New, bright and happy chapter awaits for me. I wish you the Best.

I saw that you were in a depressive mood or some kind of relapse again on your live chat. This actually makes me feel hopeless. Even if I don't have depression I have crippling anxiety most of the time and the heights are also filled with a background anxiety and darkness. I don't know how to appreciate this. Edit: Well, I am actually chronically depressed, I have a low grade depression all the time.

@Douglas Bloch I just found your videos , I am very thankful I did. I feel so hopeless, unable to walk in pain, and in wheelchair, no help, alone, after trying n holding onto hope clinging to Gods word, so long, with no changes I feel finally ready to give up. Then your video gave hope ...when you brought up JOB from bible I knew.. I must keep on going. I've always said I'm the female version of JOB, so I will keep going until my holy lord & Savior calls me home. Thank you for what you give thru your videos...HOPE. God Bless you Sir.

This was an extra Special Video, when you brought up the subject of Job, it really hit me. However the real light has not risen for me. I do hold on for hope, however I seem to get 4 steps forward, yet end up 14 steps back. As hard as I look forward to a great day, An issue will pop up, whether it is a friend to bring me down, or an issue in my home. I then find it hard to return to my good day. I do try to stay away from negativity on TV with the hatred spewed daily, this is a must for me. At any rate Douglas, thanks once more, for the person you are,, and the positive you try to spell out,, with a peaceful style of your own.

I can attest to how dangerous it is to be on depression meds while driving. I was once on a combination of Zoloft and Serzone, and on that fateful day, got into a huge argument with my boss (also my dad) and got fired. I spent the next few hours driving around in a daze, and how I made it home in one piece is nothing short of a miracle. Fast forward a year later, and I read a study online about a link between Serzone and damaged heart valves, so I quit that stuff and went off my meds cold turkey. I somehow tolerated that, but I wouldn't recommend quitting depression meds cold turkey for everyone. I think the sheer will to survive and keep going helped me immensely.

There seem to be correlation between viewing porn and depression although the evidence is not definitive. It is always hard to determine exactly what has triggered the depression. Hi Douglas I just found you and am so glad I did. My situation seems hopeless sometimes. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor on the front left lobe. I'm so grateful that my doctors believe it is non cancerous but I will never call it benign because it causes me so many issues and is destroying my life. This part of the brain controls your anxiety and depression and personality. My symptoms are so bad and my neurologist has me on many meds but I'm so depressed and full of anxiety. How can one overcome this if a tumor is pushing on that area? They will not remove it at this time because of risks so I'm on a "wait and watch." I feel like I have lost so much of me. I had an awesome career and now am on medical leave and every little small thing pushes me over the edge and I breakdown. But lately I just feel like I'm in complete darkness. Any advice is so greatly appreciated. Thank you
@DouglasBloch
@DouglasBloch 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for writing. I don't know how much the tumor on your left frontal lobe is affecting your symptoms of anxiety and depression. I will ask my psychiatrist for his opinion. While you can't control what the tumor may or may not be doing, you can control the way you respond to your symptoms. I have outlined a recovery program in my book Healing From Depression: 12 Weeks to a Better Mood. www.healingfromdepression.com/bloch-hell-toc.htm Of course, there are other good books out there. In addition, I do long distance mental health coaching. This link will tell you about the service. healingfromdepression.com/blog/mental-health-coaching/ If your situation is bad enough, you can always be evaluated for ECT. I trust that there is a way for you to feel better. Look at this KZbin video I made on a reason for hope. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZS9daGwm9KYmKs I would be glad to work with you if you would like to try out my program..

Having lived with depression alll my life and releasing what a mess my life is, is living in denial easier than facing reality? I can't handle life.

I was dating a woman that was cheating behind my back with a married coworker of hers. That hit me every hard. My heart was shattered, but that wasn't the hardest thing that hit me. My mother died. That destroyed all hope in my life. Now I'm shattered and lost all hope in life. I feel like life is not worth living anymore. I been having suicidal thoughts. I'm so down 😭.

I believe u that the darkness eventually lifts but I question if it's worth waiting for especially if the depression is chronic and u know another episode can strike at anytime
@DouglasBloch
@DouglasBloch 7 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. The key is to find enough joy in between episodes to make it worthwhile. You can also increase the length of time between episodes. That is what my recovery program is all about. To learn more, feel free to visit my website-- healingfromdepression.com

Assisted suicide is the way to go..The Europeans offer this for tinnitus and other chronic, incurable conditions that ruin life and place severe limitations on our life..The Europeans are much more enlightened about such matters..It's like the old Kenny Rogers song, "You got to know when to fold".

I think it’s wishful thinking you don’t really have a lot of intention for the result to happen but we hope you do want the Result to happen very much

what's your opinion on people who really succeded at commiting suicide my uncle did and so did my grandmother's sister and a friend of mine her husband did ? I know they say god never gives you more than you can handle .but that's just a made up quote .it's very confusing how the mind works .

Suicide is a mystery, but this I believe. Most people don't really want to kill themselves-they just want to stop the pain. It has been my experience that when people are given the right kind and amount of support, they make it through to the other side. But some folks don't get the support, or they can't hang there long enough. I'm thankful that i was able to.

No one can know another's pain or losses or struggles..For some of us ending our lives is 110% the best thing..At some point the endless suffering gets ridiculous and some of us have to make a final exit.
