I have had depression for over 13 years and I've always had intense nerves, and I'll be 28 this year -- I find the worst thing you can do, is sit around all day, and its such a catch because I'm unemployed because of my feelings. The work of Gurdjieff has helped me a lot in the last few years since I've discovered him, he spoke about mankind as being asleep, we sift through our imagination all the time, we identify with both negative and positive things, we express negative emotions at the drop of a hat, we become personalities and lose our essence.

Some 11 years here. We cannot know that the experience is temporary. We must believe it is, for there seems to be no other way out of this but to believe or die. I guess this is why 3:41 is so important. To have some reminder its not that bad. To have someone to believe for you, to believe with you. Its such a small thing but the effect is immense. You should try and reach out to others, if you can that is. And if you don't have anyone, or can't ask for help then I guess you're fucked. Heh.

But lately since COVID-19 happened I’ve been worried I made the wrong choice in leaving a secure position with health insurance. I wish I could also try the communication field but I don’t have enough skills or confidence during interviews. I really wish I had a very specific guide to get through this difficult time and job hunting. Looking for jobs was hard enough before COVID but now I anticipate will be even worse with how many job seekers there are. I’m terrified and feel like I’m having an existential crisis often

Are you related to Bonnie by any chance? She was among my favorite and most respected teachers when she came to teach medical science academy at our high school. To manage to both pass the bar exam and earn a doctorate in one lifetime is so impressive. She was aware of the leading research at the time and wasn’t dismissive of information that went against conventional wisdom. We learned about research into the non-psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, CBD, and how it was helping treat patients with degenerative nerve diseases. It was helping to slow the breakdown of the Myelin sheath around nerve cells. This was way back in ~2004 when cannabis was still very illegal and labeled as having no medical use. Just a cool memory that came to mind. If you are not related, my apologies! Thank you for your insights on mental health. I’ve been using the “splash cold water on your face” method you mentioned in another video and it feels like it might help to start calming down my nervous system when I’m getting upset. I’ll let you know once I’ve tried it a few more times. Thank you!

Douglas I have tried 5-MeO-DMT for my depression and anxiety and it has helped me IMMENSELY. I tried it 7 years ago and I have never gotten hospitalized since then:). I recommend you try it but u MUST come off ALL medication for at least 6 months before trying it. If you don’t it can actually trigger a psychotic episode and that can obviously worsen your mental health. Good luck:)

Wow, I alway say that to my wife. All the time I would tell her "I’m never going to get better” Hopefully this does pass. I keep my faith on God no matter what!

A senior in poverty, I dont care about coming back. If One cannot get out of poverty , then there's no reason to want to live. There is no quality of life.

I'm sorry that life has been painful. I was unhappy for the first half of my life. Do you have anybody like a counselor that you can talk to about this?

Insomnia scares me the most, I haven't slept in the last 2 days after I stopped taking my sleep medication. If insomnia becomes a permanent condition, I'm not sure if life is worth living. I'm only 42 and living like this for a few decades more seems impossible.

Try to look only one day ahead. If you provide your email address I will send you a technique I useto help me leave the future and come back to the present. In the meantime, I am curious why you stopped the sleeping medication. If it was potentially habit-forming there are low levels of antidepressants that will help you sleep without causing dependency

I like guided meditations on KZbin by Michael Sealey to induce sleep. These are necessary for me.
