iirc he (spoiler?) turned her down before she could really decide between him and maxon. he fell in love with one of her maids and i feel like he tries to tell america but she doesn't let him finish what he's saying because she thinks he's going to tell her that he loves her?? idk i remember i was always so irritated that america could never make up her mind and i felt like in the end the two guys made all the decisions for her (what with aspen taking himself out of the running by choosing someone else to be with and then maxon ALSO choosing someone else, only to change his mind about it in the eleventh hour). but yeah. they were all really good friends in the end but i guess it is a bit odd to have an ex give you away hahah

I remember reading this series recently when I got Covid and I'm someone who hates most romance stories because of love triangles where the outcome is obvious. Every plot point ended up more stupid than the last but I just couldn't put it down because I wanted to know how much bullshit they could stuff into this thing before the finale. The end of this series was especially chaotic and I can't wait until you cover it because the author killing off the parents for plot convenience AND Celeste just as she got her redemption arc is so insane.

I love the way Maxon and America love each other in the moments they aren't screwing it up in their series but in the next set about their daughter, there isn't a will she won't she about the relationship but rather her main struggle is about protecting the cou try and will she make room for love while serving her country. I started the books involving A&M's daughter and I never finished them. They were a bit jarring because they're trying to get us to care about these new characters, but also still progressing drama with the OLD characters. I's just way too much to still have YA drama happening to literally everyone. The books just felt like I was standing on a mile high stack of rugs and having them pulled out from under me over and over. Eventually it's not shocking or even startling anymore, you just want to jump off the pile.

I love this series, i love the ridicoulosness of it, and i love unhinged recaps of things i like where people point out the cringy but honestly funny bits. Do the ruby red series, it’s also a very short trilogy but SO GOOD

In Germany the one is called der erwählte which signifies the one being a man. I always thought it Shows how the choice was always americas to make and that maxon is the one

Oh, that's interesting! In Poland, the title is "Jedyna", which indicates that it is a woman, so I always thought it was about the girl Maxon would choose and who would eventually become the queen. The English title has the advantage of being more ambiguous (since "The One" can mean a woman, a man and a caste) and because of that it can be interpreted in different ways...

The first book seems so sweet and I love the princes sincerity… Of course it had to have unnecessary drama. I will live vicariously through these videos instead of struggling through the drama first hand hahaha

I loooove this series. However, the sequel series about America and Maxon's daughter is only worth a read if you're willing to face the same annoying back-and-forth bs that America and Maxon went through as well but just in princess form. Their daughter is quite callous

I went down an obsessive hole and finished the whole series in three nights two weeks before finals. I legit pulled three all nighters in a row to read the series…. And I kinda hate it. It’s literally like not being able to look away from a car crash.

I've literally never heard of these books or the plot so I couldn't work out why these videos had been suggested... Till the miraculous image flashed up and I said out loud... "Oh.... That's why." I enjoyed this loads BTW, thanks for the break down, I might grab the books and have a read to fully enjoy ❤
