The author could've made the books realistic and kept her as the "unpopular" shy girl with a few friends and low self esteem like she was in the first book. After the second one she became the popular famous girl that was friends with half the school despite being a pick me and being ungrateful. Idk I feel like there's a very very small amount of main characters who aren't a narcissistic pick me who thinks their life is ruined when one thing goes wrong

In the first book she won the art competitionfor the school, the second book she ran the Halloween dance, the third book she literally started a band and met with a famous producer, the 4th book she won the holiday on ice challenge, the 5th book she started her miss know it all advice column, the 6th book she won sweetheart princess and the dance, the 7th book she LITERALLY HAD HER OWN TV SHOW, the 8th book she was well known after getting a concussion in gym class, the 9th book nothing really happened except she lost her diary, the 10th book she literally smuggled dogs into the school, the 11th book she went in the student exchange program and became super popular at the school she was at oir a week, the 12th book everyone began talking about her because she was a "tour guide" for the student exchange program, the 13th book she had a birthday party and literally invited 200 PEOPLE from school including MacKenzie, and in the 14th book she LITERALLY went on tour with a famous band and opened for them in concert yet she STILL complains about being unpopular and how no one likes her

It was interesting, unique, and it showed the relationship of Niki and Brianna in a bittersweet light unlike their typical dynamic where Brianna gets on Niki's nerves. i remember when i first got into these books, i made a book that was really similar to it (except it was with Eevee's). the main Eevee protagonist in my little series acted exactly like Nikki, and she had friends, a crush, and a rival that were literally just Mackenzie, Brandon, Chloe, and Zoey....it's still in my room somewhere and i've been rereading it lately. it's even as chaotic as the dork diaries books lol
