Ned had ridden the American River Trail before but had never had the chance to check out the winding trails that work their way through Folsom up to the base of El Dorado Hills. Come along for the ride!

Thanks for sharing! What a nice network of trails. Where I live there’s not enough trails. We have some but not enough.

Hey, Dan! A lot of those Folsom trails here are really new, having been finished in the last ten years. We got lucky with a building boom over there, and the city forced the developers to build the trail network as a condition of allowing all the home construction. Unlucky for the developers but lucky for us! :)

Great trails! Ned probably needs that e-assist to compensate for that draggy flag! ;-)
@bikestrikesrazors
@bikestrikesrazors 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, Coleman. We were going at a pretty good clip, but not fast enough to develop any serious “flag drag” issues. There are a few downhills around here where you can hit 50mph, and if we would’ve come across one of those, there might have been some issues. I had to stop using a flag on those ride because it would just fly off the trike, rip off the flag pole or the pole would break in half!

Thank you so much for this video. We live in Santa Cruz. I was thinking about loading our bikes on the RV and spending a night or two at Beal's Point recreational area campground, then riding the American River bike trail. It looks like the trail runs right next to the campground. If I am correct, can it be ridden in a loop, or does it end and we'd have to retrace our steps to get back to the campground. How many miles would you say the trail is? Looks pretty flat..is that correct? Looks like you three took a few turns...is there a map we can follow? Thanks for your help..Happy triking!

Hey, Ken! Yes, the campground at Beal’s Point is right next to the start of the American River Trail. If you start your ride at the campground, you’ll start with a fun, long downhill, and if you stay to the right side of Lake Natoma on your way down (don’t go over Folsom Crossing bridge) you’ll have a pretty flat ride all the way to Old Town Sacramento. The distance to Old Town is around 32 miles, so up and back (you’ll have some climbing to get back up to Beal’s Point) will be a little over 60 miles. Of course, you can turn around at any time. In this video, we jumped off the American River Trail and went over to the Folsom trail system. Check out our video on Hidden Folsom Trails to see our take on these trails. Also, check out our video The Complete American River Bike Trail for detailed descriptions of the different parts of the trail. Have fun and thanks for watching!

What brand and style tires do you run? Would love to hear your thoughts on tire selections

Hello Mr Sylvain! I run just about anything and everything. I've had fat and skinny tires on the VTX and have big apples on the GTO right now. I was running Schwalbe "Shreddas" on the VTX and found them pretty fast. They no longer make them, so I put some Duranos on for now. Not as fast as the Shreddas. Out of all the different tires I've tried, I've never really gotten a "stinker".

Nice! If we do eventually work up some kind of ride, we’ll be sure to let you know. Also, if we’re ever going to drive down to Southern California to ride with the Trike Squadron, we’ll let you know. Southern Cal would be a much shorter ride for you! :)
