That’s not a 2824-2…it’s a 2892-2. That’s why it’s 21 jewels. They used it because it’s thinner than the 2824. The 25 jewel version is an Sellita SW-300-1, Sellita’s near clone.

don't you think that the bracelet looks like railroad tracks? I have a Ball pocket watch so I had to get one of these as well. I also love that they did the dial in enamel like the old pocket watches had. great video as always Teddy.

This watch does not have 100m of water resistance that it says at 2:20. It’s not listed on Balls site or Teddys site as 100m, both places it’s listed as 50m water resist.

The Ball Trainmaster 60 Second has been on my wrist pretty constantly for the past 10 years. I prefer it over other much more expensive watches that I own for readability and the tritium tubes. It was nice to be able to compare it to this watch as the dials are very similar with my watch showing the individual minutes marked in red at each 5 minute mark and the others in black just to the outside of each minute marker. A very satisfying watch.

The nicest looking Ball I think I’ve seen. Quite low key and elegant. Unlike most other Ball’s which are too bombastic and “flashy” for my taste. If I were ever in the market for a Ball (currently I’m not) I’d get this. Probably pre-owned as it’s a limited edition and won’t be available new forever 🤷♂️

I really like this design, but prefer the more expensive ball watch with small second hand. The issue I have with the more expensive Ball watch is that it is a “Screw Down” crown that makes me nervous. How durable is the Screw Down crown is especially if I have to unscrew the crown every time it needs winding when it’s not been worn?

Was looking at this one but wish it had their in house movement, can't live with 40 hr power reserve anymore
@robc84683 жыл бұрын
ETA are some of the finest movements I would take it over a powermatic 80 hour movement any day because it would have to go back to the factory for regulation any competent watchmaker can regulate a 40 hour ETA.
@Thiccolo3 жыл бұрын
@@robc8468 as much as I agree with your statement, if eta made a 80h power reserve movement it would fill my need. Currently I don't think they offer anything
@robc84683 жыл бұрын
@@Thiccolo I ETA is under Swatch Group and their "Solution" was slowing the beat rate down to 21,600 which I don't care for. If I am going to pay up for a Swiss watch I want a smoother hand sweep of the 28,800 beat or even higher like some Zenith watches have. An ETA 2824-2 is only 25.6 mm in diameter and goes back to the era when a standard watch was 32mm to 36mm. The simple solution would be to bring the movement size up to about 30mm and put a bigger mainspring in it to get the 80 hours and keep the higher beat, taking advantage of all the air gap a 38 to 42 mm watch provides inside the case without a filler ring. Being a conservative business they probably will not do it. Maybe "upstart" Sellita could up-size their ETA clone and put a bigger mainspring in it and keep the high beat.

Does anyone know anything about Ball watches? They used to use tritium gas in their markers years ago. This made the markers glow in the dark very bright and clear. I wanted to know if they still do. Recent models don't always seem to have that feature anymore.
@robc84683 жыл бұрын
These watches are still tritium. However, the tritium is encased within tiny glass tubes for added safety.

And the bad news is that as of November 2022 this edition is sold out. Compounding this is the fact that the watch closest to this in appearance, the Trainmaster Standard time, with the susbsidiary second hand, is fully a thousand US dollars more than the Anniversary special edition, which was limited to 1000 pieces. The Anniversary addition at US $1799.00 seems to have been a manageable price for many watch collectors (based on the fact that the series sold out). However shelling out an extra thousand dollars for the one with the more complicated (and presumably more expensive) subsidiary second hand seems a poor value proposition to me.. Come on, Ball, don't you want to sell watches to those who can afford them???
