Great video! Thanks so much! The one thing I’d say though, is that the similarities between Peruvian mythology and Christian mythology is likely a post conquest phenomenon. We know nothing about their beliefs other than what Spanish Clergy recorded. Often they interpreted things through Christian bias, or purposefully inserted Christian elements in order to legitimize their own beliefs. Also… I believe the more common higher estimates of Inca populations, and the much higher estimates of 80-90% of that population perishing as a result of colonization. I’ve been to some of the most remote parts of Peru, where every where you look, there is signs of pre-colonial civilization.

Amazing. Well done! This is one of the best documentaries about Peru that I’ve seen in a long time. I was born in Peru and moved to the US 33 years ago when I was 14 years old. Thank you for making this video. You should make a video about Ayahuasca. My teacher from Colombia is a traditional medicine man who serves Ayahuasca or as it’s known in Colombia, Yage. It would be wonderful to see what you can find out about the multiple peoples in the Amazon jungle and how they drink and serve that beautiful medicine in their very own special way. Thanks again! Keep up the good work.

I am from Germany and I am 71 years old. That means I am not much into hiking anymore. My dearest daughter has invited me and I kind of like to kick back some. Is their a cool place on the coast of Peru where we could stay for a bout a week plus? And how about a little weed? Could I get some without hassle or danger? Danke and I will be their in 2 weeks plus. Thanks for the upload and wish me and Anna a great vacation. Danke.

1:13:06 I know this video is 1 year old, but you are wrong here when you say that Viceroyalty was another word for Colony. We were not a Colony in the English sense of it. This was not a place for mere resources extraction. The Spanish administration built Universities, Hospitals, Roads and Infrastructure and the oficial name wasn’t even Viceroyalty. This land was know as Reyno del Peru (Kingdom of Peru). Also, Inca elites maintained their privileges in Cuzco as well as other indigenous nobility that helped Spanish to overthrow the rule of Atahualpa.
@juanfrancolazo538Ай бұрын
1:14:33 Other Major innacuracy here. Only 20% of the silver extracted was destined to the crown as a tax (that’s even lower than most income tax nowadays). The rest was in the hands of Spanish and Indigenous nobility that had claims in the mines. Of course, there were pleb Indians that was exploited, similar to what happened all around the world at that time. This was way before enlightenment teached people that serfdom is wrong.

1:04:41 Being calm does not equal dinity. Dignity comes from respecting weaker people. A calm person who does not respect an emotional person has no diginity. An emotional person is generally more inclined to strive towards improvement while a calm person is more inclined to be self-congratulatory.

You say all the political shenanigans in Peru may sound wild to "many westerners listening", but that is a ridiculous thing to say. First, Peru is as far west as the United States. I mean, words have meanings. Second, it sounds exactly like what's been going on in the United States for the past few years.
