Enjoy your videos! I live in Texas. We have a wet weather stream on property. Our 14 acres seem to be what was once a larger stream. Tons of petrified wood, jasper,chalcedony, agate, quartz, and fossils. Every day I walk my dog and hunt rocks. Nice to know there are others who enjoy and appreciate nature's gifts!

I'm found peace in a time i did not think I would when I started going to the river every day. I see in the city what most never know exists, Wolves hunting, huge buck deer resting beside the road, turkeys, rare birds and rattlesnakes. But then I noticed rocks. I'm addicted I make unusual things with some of them, others I use for jewelry. the river healed my soul, gave me peace and joy and the ability to feel ok for the first time in many years. I love your videos, thank you for sharing.

Wow, looks frosty there. You are clearly The Man to talk to about not just stones, but the best cold weather outdoor gear!😂 Agate Angler:The closer you are to parks and places there's lots of ppl, the harder it is to find what you're looking for... Me: So you're saying avoid ppl like the plague? Cool! Got that covered!! (And it wouldn't surprise me a bit if lots of other rockhounds are also introverts.😊)

Hi Alex, no offence but if that was a bad day I will take it. That " small one " is better than I have done in the last 3 trips, 😂😂😂. As you were saying the rock hounding on your Yellowstone River is pretty productive. My local rivers are not very productive so a fair bit of extended travel is required. It looks like the weather is about to get cold where you are, we are the opposite, temperatures heading into the mid 30s Celsius and climbing for the summer. A couple of those Jaspers look like they will be pretty cool. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin.
@AgateAngler
@AgateAngler 4 жыл бұрын
No offense taken. The title is meant to be a little misleading in the sense that even though it was a little bit of an 'off' day for me, it was still a fantastic day on the river. So, in truth, there is really no such thing as a bad rock hunt.

Exactly! I had quite seriously the least productive hunt EVER the last time I went, only 2 or 3 almost microscopic lil jaspers and a baby agate, but I did get to give back to Mother Earth by filling my nearly empty rock bag with plastic trash the recent storm deposited on the beach, and 4 friggin empty beer cans that must have been discarded that night (it was a late night low tide hunt) and would definitely have been washed out to sea in the next high tide, to pollute the home of all the beautiful seals, fish, seabirds, and whales that call that part of the ocean home. It made me very grateful I got there in time.

Along the Mississippi here in NW Illinois the only agates we have are washed down the river from glacial deposits in Wisconsin and Minnesota, so it's rare to find an agate larger than a golf ball. The most common being Lake Superior Agate and the occasional Cold Water Agate(from SE MN).

That greenish-blue banded piece you show at 9:15 is cooler than it seems at first!
