It was extremely windy when we filmed this video. I have left some wind noise in so you can experience it better!
From Positano it is a 45 minute drive to the Capo di Sorrento where we visited the Bagni della Regina Giovanna. From where we parked it is a 10 minute walk along a narrow lane to the Roman Villa and the Baths. The sandwich shop was just at the beginning of the lane.
Then we drove to Massa Lubrense, a bit less than 10 minutes away and down to the Marina della Lobra.
The shopping mall we visited is called Campania and can be found at the Caserta Sud exit of the A3/A1 highway. There is also a big outlet mall called Marchinese in the same location.

The Malls in America no longer look like this. They are all slowly dying. There are huge malls all across the country that sit almost completely empty. Void of the shops, restaurants and people like the mall you see in this video. America is a sad sad place to live. Thank you for allowing me to escape with you through these videos. Most Canadian malls (though not all) are doing pretty well. I think this has to do with the harsher climate up here. We have big box stores and outdoor malls, but it's not at all pleasant to walk between them in winter when the temperature plummets to -30C! Plus you need a reliable car to even get to them. I hope things turn around soon for our American neighbours.
@beetleblooming
@beetleblooming 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, America seems to be switching to online shopping. People can’t be bothered to go out and look around or pick up things themselves. It’s sad. As a result, all the empty land in my area is being replaced by warehouses and logistic centers. There was just an article today that a mall in New Jersey is being torn down and replaced with a warehouse. Makes me sad. “Pave paradise to put up a parking lot”. 😞
@myamygdala22
@myamygdala22 3 жыл бұрын
@@beetleblooming You're right - Canadians are definitely adopting online shopping too. I haven't given much thought yet to what retail will look like once the pandemic is over. Will we go back to bricks and mortar stores? I wrote previously how awful winter weather in Canada can be. That would make online shopping more appealing. But at the same time, that makes warm places where people - especially young people - can wander around and socialize without parkas on pretty appealing too. Time will tell, I guess.

Wow! That was amazing. My husband and I "discovered" that roman villa when we were camping on the Massa Lubrense in 1986. It looks much more well looked after now. When we visited there were no railings, no notice boards. It was a derelict site with lots of tagging and rubbish but we realised exactly what it was. It was a real jewel of a find. It's lovely to see it is now looked after. Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories.

Nicki, I absolutely love your videos! I subscribed after viewing the first one. I put on the playlist and let it run for hours (you're welcome). I'm glad I watch for many reasons. I went to Positano as part of a cruise excursion and was very disappointed. I guess it's my fault for not being able to spend much time there. I hovered up near the where the bus was. Was afraid that if I walked down to the beach I wouldn't get back to the bus on time. So I had to settle for the shops that were in "my area". I felt the people (shop workers/owners) were snobby and not inviting. I vowed that I wouldn't go back. But your videos show such a better side of your beautiful town. I hope to come back (probably stay in Sorrento) and see Positano again without a time constraint. You do such a beautiful job presenting your life there and all the places you go to. You may have mentioned this already, but how many minutes (hours?) does it take you to get the beach and how long does it take you to get up to the street level/where you park your car or vespa/grocery store? I have heard mention the number of steps, but what is the length of time to get around? Hugs from Texas!
@NickiPositano
@NickiPositano 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Traci, I'm Carlo, thanks for the comment, this is a difficult question to answer, it depends on a number of factors, for example how high you are from the beach, how trained you are to climb stairs, how hot it is, what type of clothing / shoes are you using ?! Always for example, even if you see us walking together in the videos, Nicki is faster than me, so she slows down to keep up with me, hypothetically we had to go from home, to the beach together, and go up again, (it's more than a thousand stairs one way) Nicki would do it in 45 minutes 15 downhill, 30 uphill, but I in an hour, 15 downhill, 45 uphill, yes because I'm only slower in the climb !!

Lovely... Beautiful part of the peninsula. The fishing harbor could have in been in Cornwall😊. I especially loved the fable on the origins of the women's "flat bottoms" 😂.. I learn from a friend, who is a dog trainer (and has a stray) that when leaving the house, you should be positive and make the dog feel it is getting "special time" when left at home alone.. And say goodbye quickly and happily... Then the dog won't get upset, stressed and shiver and won't see the experience as negative/sad etc.... Just thought I'd mention it. (I had to learn it, when staying with her and leaving her dog to go out, because she is also like Holly and has separation anxiety and doesn't like being left behind).

Great video as usual Nicki! Such lovely places you show us all truly precious! Loved the flat bottomed women story and town, and the "little tiny beach", just breathtaking seaside views, olive groves, the deli with hearty sandwiches and mozzarella that makes my mouth water, even "the mall" where Mr Carlo got his new look lol! Lovely ending sunset and home to your adorable Holly! Thank you for all you do to show us the beauty of Italy!

I love the Old West restaurants. I think they are so funny. They are the perfect answer to the American idea of "Italian" restaurants with drippy candles and checkered tablecloths and plastic grapevines. My friend in Rome told me about them and I didn't believe him at first! I had a good laugh when I looked them up!

What a beautiful video! You have been inspire so many people around the Globe. It is so refreshing see real life for a change. What a beautiful life you and your familie lives. My family and I have been in Positano, Amalfi, Atrani and Capri twice and we just love it. The first time we were there was September, 11 2001. We stayed at Luna Convento and I saddly remember that the people from the hotel staff were in chock and I did not known why until we arrived at the hotel room and switched on the tv set. The second time we stayed at a Hotel Boutique in Attrani which for us is a jewel to be descovered. Hope all the citizens of the world get the vaccine to allow us to travel and live our lives again. Best greetings from Brazil!

I'm now starting to wonder if I was born in Massalubrense heheh - either that or I sit on my bum too much. Loved ALL the sights today - fantastic - ancient and modern. Tomasso is very talented with the pastries. Also having a cup of tea here, whilst watching this video. Really interesting video - thanks for sharing it with us.

Absolutely hilarious!😂 This episode was so good - so much in it! - but as I write this there are 51 down votes. I couldn't imagine how *anyone* could not like this one, but then I remembered: the women of Massa Lubrense are probably a little ticked off that Nicky spilled the beans about the legend of their flat bottoms! 😜
