I grew up around Derrick, me and my actual cousin Walter lemon jr (on the bulls now). I have a medical condition that prevents me from playing seriously anymore, Almost killed me. When he say's "I worked my ass off bro" Yeah... I felt that. I know, i saw, and i participated. This wasn't a game for us. We grew up on the south side of Chicago. We were desperately looking for a way out. It just so happened that our love for the game was also a door of opportunity. He had so many temptations to be pulled into the street life. Instead he worked really hard to get here. There isn't a man on this planet who couldn't respect that. The city loves this dude.

This video is so fucking good. I love how it evokes emotions that other basketball channels never could. Derrick Rose’ story is such a strange and depressing career and this video captures the essence of that. What a heartbreaking truth it is that we seem so unsatisfied with players of the game that don’t meet our expectations. And “resurgence” he had that 50 point night is nothing but a beautiful picture of what could have been. This video hits me at a time where for once in 28 years I am alone and single and examining my life, I feel, for the first time and what it is going to look like and where I have been. I hurt and yet I look back and see where I have been and I can only see it as what made me the man I am today. The NBA storyteller deserves more attention because this video doesn’t just capture my attention it holds my heart and I can only appreciate and respect the man behind something like a piece of art like this. If you haven’t subscribed yet, if you haven’t donated to Paterson yet, if you haven’t told a friend yet. Do it. Because channels like this don’t come around often.

Brings a tear to my eye. Being from Chicago this hits home really hard. Derrick Rose will forever hold a special place in my sports heart. It's a shame what happened to him but I'll never forget some of the moments he gave us. "The Windy City Assassin" (Stacy King's nickname for DRose late in games), "I wanna go higher!" (Dunk over Drajic), "Let me step back and kiss myself!" (Step-Back fade away buzzer beating game winner against MIL), "Help I've fallen and I can't get up!" (breaking Andre Miller's ankles with a nasty crossover), so many great moments in such a short time.

Not gonna lie, it seems like a lot of the videos NBA Storyteller makes are more on the negative side, and I was kind of expecting that. Rose is my all time favorite player, so I was already preparing the hate comment before I even started the video. Then I was in tears by the end . . . Man I love Rose . . . That was a bitter sweet game to watch because the Jazz are my team but Rose is my guy. Awesome video. I wasn't emotionally ready . . .

Incredible work as always. You're honestly one of the best storytellers I've ever heard. Not only was Derrick from Chicago, he went to college for a season and returned there as the number 1 pick and heir to the Bulls franchise. I can admit that Rose was my favorite player and I was frustrated with some of the comments he made. But who wouldn't have those thoughts if they were in Derrick's shoes? Charles and Shaq never even experienced the kind of major injuries that Rose did, even if it probably wasn't the smartest thing to be honest with the media about his health concerns. Great job and thanks.

i think regardless, it's his passion that got him here. If you want to be able to write that well, write a lot and read a lot of smart books and maybe even something like poetry.
