As an Arabian owner / breeder/ shower / trainer of 45 yrs, I can tell you that, a well- schooled horse and rider would not have this problem. I would have left the ride immediately or not gone at all. Too many amateurs.... I often ride alone or with 1 trusted, senseable friend. The AHA is the only association that allows children under 18 to show Arabian Stallions. Largely in part due to the superb training both receive. Often in mixed classes with all sexes. The well- bred ones are smart, wonderful family horses and can continue to be ridden after years of breeding. Never confuse Spirit with Spook. Any horse will spook if the rider isn't confident or if something frightens them. It's not just Arabians. I've pleasure rode Stallions and geldings together without incident.

I FIND I too need to add a further comment : In the previous video i commented on my concern that the person riding the big chestnut horse is a kicker but the owner did not initially put a red ribbon in the horses tail, and she kept riding past the hunt master, so she was given the name. Cheeky charger . Then, with plenty of space for riders to the left of Tara, this cheeky crazy person comes barreling up on Tara's left and scrapes all along Tara's left side -- offers no apology and acts as if nothing happened. ! I mentioned in my comment my concern that maybe the collision was intentional on cheeky chargers part. ! I had thought to delete this but could not do it because so many were acting so weird ! Then this video where Tara really gets slammed into very hard into her right leg -- note : this happened right after Farouk had a fast gallop and passed everyone except the hunt master -- and as Tara stopped THERE was all the room in the world on her right side, YET THIS GIRL LOOKED TO ME TO HAVE ' INTENTIONALLY ' SLAMMED INTO TARA'S RIGHT LEG AND FAROUK'S RIGHT SIDE -- AND AGAIN THE HUNT MASTER DID NOTHING ! I really think it would be proper to file a formal complaint about this hunt with the proper group higher - ups !

The galloping looked fun though. I sure hope you will mend quickly, Tara. And I hope Farouk wasn’t hurt. That was an awful hit. And I understand that it wasn’t on purpose, but sure seems an indication of someone who has trouble stopping their horse and should know to begin the stopping process far sooner than was done. It's almost looking like a couple "mean girls" might be jealous of your beautiful and "fast as the wind" steed - and also your ability to ride and control him so well. I hope that's not the case and it's just that they are not able to control their unsafe horses. At the least they should be disqualified from future participation because of their poor horsemanship and not obeying the rules regarding staying back if they're riding a "red ribbon". Someone else or their horse could eventually be seriously injured if this continues to be allowed. Also, the lady who does so well riding side saddle, had she received such a blow to her right, looks like it would have sent her flying into left field!There...that's said. I have not seen a woman riding side saddle, outside of ring demonstrations, for many years! And not only is she apparently very good at it, she also appears very comfortable with it (not quite the same thing). And, more importantly, so is her horse! Not all horses are comfortable with the change of balance a side saddle can introduce.

I am writing this separately, because it is bluntly negative. The more of your hunt videos I watch, the less impressed I am with some of your fellow participants. I question if some of the other riders are in full control of their mounts, and if they are even fully paying attention to what they are doing! I am very glad you were not seriously injured. If the hit-and-run horse had been a bit bigger, or hit you at a less oblique angle, you could have been unseated or, even worse, Farouk could have been knocked off his feet and landed with you underneath him! It was't in camera sight, and the collision happened too quick, but I would guess while you were keeping your seat, Farouk was doing a fancy shuffle to stay on all fours! I've had a horse knocked over from underneath me in a chase, and witnessed other riders' collisions, and it can end in very serious injuries. There are times I've seen more coordination and better behavior in a rugby scrum than this hunt shows.

That was dreadful riding from that other rider🤨. Both you and Faroukles could have been badly hurt... not even an apology from that idiot! Hope you got home safely ...... a group to avoid in future!! Farouk enjoyed the galloping, but not being banged into ...hope he wasn't hurt or too frightened. 🤗🤗🤗

Good job keeping your seat and Farouk in hand with that collision. I hope you and Farouk heal and feel better soon

That woman that ran into you should have apologised, looks like she nearly came off. Least the other lady on the white horse was very kind asking if you where ok, that was very good of her. Hope your leg gets better, Farouk was great.

Edit Tara said she did apologise reply to someone else’s comment.

Woops...reminds me of when I go trail riding. People that think they can ride and can't control their horses and cut you off or bang into you which could end up in a train wreck. Farouk looked a bit excitable on that ride. He does like to be at the front. He was doing a bit of head tossing. Those grey horses at the front at the start were super the way they came from galloping then back to a walk on a loose rein. Can't say the same about the one that bashed into you. Hope you're ok. I saw something like that on a trail ride but the rider ended up tearing her hamstring after having a crash with another horse. We need to remember that nothing about getting on a horse is really that safe especially in such a big group going at a cracking pace. We also need to remember accidents can happen at any time around horses. They're unpredictable animals and I'm sure what happened wasn't intentional. I do hope she did apologised though and we just couldn't hear it.

Hello Tara - I love your videos! I do have a question - (my experience with horses, is trail /arena in the USA - so please excuse my ignorance). I wanted to know what would have been the proper etiquette in that situation? Should the hunt master or mistress told the rider to leave? (Sorry about the bruise for sure). Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

I also have this question. Common sense is that there should be a group allocated for emergencies, who stay with the injured party and make sure everything is ok, or escalate in seeking help. Also I would have thought having a car and float nearby with supplies including humans and horse first aid, stationed at various points nearby to the trail would be smart for these longer and larger cohort group trails... Certainly there is a universal rule which seems to be ignored, which is that the group should only ride to the level of difficulty of the weakest rider in the group: if you have a beginner horse or beginner rider, at minimum a cohort, but ideally the whole group should behave with this accommodation in mind, and not treat it as a wreckless joyride hooning around

I’m American and have never been on a hunt but when we go on group trail ride whenever someone get hurt, falls off, or a horse becomes to hard to control we all hop off and and take a few minutes to regroup before continuing.

I'm sorry but what was that loonies day out. Dam rude and dangerous riding. What with that silly woman not controlling the chestnut then you get side swiped by another out of control person. Poor you and farouk. Hope your leg is OK. 😤that really made me quite angry as you and farouk always have manners and ride respectfully of others. Rant over.

I still cannot believe the rudeness I watched!!! Not even I am sorry??? What is wrong with people today ???

@@blondieuk I was going to say the same but didnt want to come off as mean and angry. Yes if that was me and another horse and rider slammed into us and did not say a word... .I would have had plenty of words to say back!!! Uncalled for rudeness !!!!!! If she cannot control her horse in a bunch of riders the ride alone and not put other riders in danger !!!!!

Hi Tara, Oh my goodness another incident on this hunt! The riders seem to ride very aggressively. I hope Farouk wasn't bruised as well as you. I hope you had a nice warm bath then put some ice on the bruise. This could have been a good outing with lots of places for Farouk to stretch his legs but maybe not worth risking a fall. Take care.

I am also a bit shocked as the rider did not pull her horse to clear area of field but heads right into you nor did she apologise immediately, you were clearly hurt and she would have known that, much props to you for keeping so cool about it don't know if I would have. Farouk was super good too.🤬♥

I lived in Melbourne Australia when I was a teenager, my first hunt at the beautiful Melbourne Hunt Club had me anxious beyond belief once the hounds came out and were all excited to get going , it truly was a sight to see. I went on many more after that first incredible day, first on my part Arab gelding then later on my purebred mare. Arabians are such trustworthy and sturdy mounts, despite being pretty and refined they certainly can hold their own, even hunting. I agree that if you are not in full control of your horse at all times you should not be out doing something that, although fun, can be incredibly dangerous when things go wrong. Imagine if she’d run through the hounds, she definitely would have really gotten a good reprimand indeed. Hope you guys were both ok. Was something bothering your horse that day, I noticed he was doing a lot of head shaking and reefing his head forward when at slower paces and standing. Apart from the inconsiderable behaviour shown towards you it looked amazing and brought back lovely memories for me. Thanks for indulging me with this. 😊

What happens if there’s a serious accident? Does the ride organizer have any liability or does each rider have to carry insurance?

I was so relieved to see that the young girl and her pony fell in with you and the slow group. I just don't understand the riders and horses (checky charger and the bay) banging into you! I thought riders on a hunt ride would be more experienced and polite. I wonder if they never allow their horses to socialize with others in a herd the way you do. I think it is unusual to see horses just run into each other. Their reflexes to avoid obstacles is pretty darn good. Anyway, I knew it was bad bc you NEVER complain and you were saying how much you hurt. At least Farouk got some good runs. Love to all. ❤🐎🐎🐎🐶❤
