Great information on navigating the step from casual to a more formal look. There are so many choices and opportunities to get it wrong, so having practical guidance like this helps a lot. Thanks!

The suits featured in the video are very stylish. The combination of shirt and tie makes each suit look very professional . Keep up the good work my friend.

Great advice Chris. I know I've said it before but that gray check suit really looks good and it really looks good with that red burgundy tie with burgundy shoes. I could definitely wear that. Thanks for all the examples it really helps to see the results. Best regards Ron

Thanks Ron, glad you enjoyed the video 👍the suit is by Magee and I do love this suit, the fit is just right and although vintage in age, it is still a timeless piece and the burgundy tie always goes well with this colour range👍🙂

Great video Chris. I have made the following observation about myself. I wear a suit only for formal occasions like job interviews, weddings, funerals etc. Normally, I go with a sports coat and nice pants. I personally think that a suit should go with dark brown or black shoes. Light brown or tan shoes seem out of place for me. Something in the optic of the combination light brown shoe and suit does not fit.

Great to hear from you again Kay and glad you enjoyed the video and found it thought provoking. I tend to agree with you about light tan shoes with a dark suit, and I only used it as an example for how one might move up to wearing a suit and not my personal choice, light tan shoes with a light coloured suit or seersucker suit goes much better together. 👍🙂

Good stuff, Chris! Why not crank it up one more step and go double breasted? I'm a big fan of DB jackets, so I'm pleased to see they making something of a comeback in a more modern style! Perhaps you could do a video on more formal dress codes, black and white tie or being a forces man, dress/mess uniform? A friend of mine is in the Rifles, he and his groomsmen all wore dress uniform his wedding, looked amazing! Completely stole the show!

Hi Yoric, Glad you enjoyed the video. The step up to a Double breasted jacket is a good step up for a more forma look. I am creating a video for next weekend that covers black tie and Scottish black tie, and touches on the military equivalent of black tie. But I will be doing some videos in the future in more detail on these subjects👍🙂

Excellent and in depth Chris. What are your thoughts on dark shirts in the elevated casual setting? I've never gone in that direction. Simply because l learned it's not the way to dress. There are several dark collared long sleeved shirts in the wardrobe, but I don't want to wind up with an inappropriate look if I can help it. Is this a convention that can be ignored if done well? Cheers

Hi Douglas, glad your enjoying this video. When it comes to the question of dark shirts in an elevated casual setting, you might want to consider the following points: Versatility: Dark shirts can add depth and sophistication to your wardrobe. They're versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Fit and Fabric: The key to pulling off a dark shirt in an elevated casual setting lies in the fit and fabric. I would consider opting for well-tailored shirts made from high-quality materials to ensure they look polished and refined. Pairing: Pairing a dark shirt with complementary pieces is crucial. Consider combining it with tailored trousers or dark denim for a balanced look. Accessories like a stylish belt or watch can further elevate the ensemble. Occasion: While dark shirts can work well for various casual settings, it's essential to assess the specific event or environment you'll be in. For more formal occasions, you might want to opt for a lighter-coloured shirt, whereas darker hues can be suitable for evening events or sophisticated gatherings. Confidence: Ultimately, it is about expressing yourself confidently. If you feel good in a dark shirt and can style it appropriately, there's no reason to shy away from it. Trust your instincts and experiment with different looks to find what suits you best. While there may be traditional conventions regarding dark shirts in elevated casual settings, they can certainly be ignored if done thoughtfully and tastefully. With attention to detail in fit, pairing, and occasion, a dark shirt can be a stylish addition to your wardrobe repertoire. Hope that helps👍🙂
