I applaud this plugin. The originality to come up with it and the creativity of the results make it something that's worthy of existence, IMO.

no you didnt . you heard the transition rise and a wholeeeee seperate part of the song playing with reverb, chorus, layered instruments and a wholeeeee mix of effects. its biased. and im probably the only one to clock. click bait. not accurate. you cant pick a low energy part of the song for one EQ then pick the best part of the song for the next because essentially what your hearing is just the 2 parts of a song. and he continues to do it thru out the whole video and only plays the chorus. but in the first example he does reference the chorus looool du get it. spam

Hello Alex :) I've seen a lot of people praising the new Chroma by Xynth. Isn't chroma just doing "basically" the same thing, boosting frequencies in a scale/chord until it resonates? So, a simpler version of scaler eq? Or am i missing something? Thank you for your thoughts.

Hello! Haven't played with Chroma yet, but the difference is that this is marketed for mixing and mastering. Now it has an update which adds better controls for creative studf I believe

I don't think this tool is mean to be used like you do in the whole mix, but instead on individual tracks to make it really shine. It's a surgical tool that would save insane amounts of time trying to fix a mix.
@AlexReidStudios9 ай бұрын
Tried that way too and honestly wasn't impressed, It's not noticeable better than a regular eq
@lince48249 ай бұрын
@@AlexReidStudios But that's the good thing about this EQ, that it is barely noticeable outside the parts you need to fix (if any). In my opinion this tool is not meant to enhance the music, but to fix unwanted resonances and harmonics, saving insane amount of time creating your own notches one by one in standard EQ's and even more time if you decide to modify your scale or transpose the MIDI notes, or after tweaking physically modeled instruments. In my opinion it is by no means a substitute of standard EQ's. I am just a noob, but I discovered this today while using Pianoteq Classical Guitar and needing to notch down 440Hz frequencies to use Impulse-Response (IR) waves in order to build a good Electric guitar sound. I don't know what the advertising on Scaler EQ is, but I know exactly where I would use it, and where I would not use it at all, and I realize whatever the advertising is that this is no substitute at all for standard EQ. The good part is that you won't be impressed with the new sound, because it is just cleaning surgically your instruments to remove some unwanted resonances, and still it may be important in the final mix after all. For example, you wouldn't be impressed by looking at a clean picture, but you would notice if there is dirt, dust or fingerprints if you know what I mean.

You can use the regular shelf and apply it to the mid side. The magic shelf does that for you in their own way automatically. No need to go to another EQ for that.

@CRayBeats Жыл бұрын
The lower down the frequency the waveforms get wider and hold for a longer period of time. There should be less and thicker "Boost Q's" as you move to the bass frequencies. Cutting down there should be fine with the regular none scale Q's, I suppose. I'll just use regular Q's for bass.
@AlexReidStudios Жыл бұрын
That's true! I suspect that's a visualization thing, specially because going higher means more and more frequencies to boost and cut

Horrible music to test the EQ with. Way way too chaotic to even know what’s going on…
@INeedsMoneys Жыл бұрын
And on top of that, this eq is not what you want on a master bus/mix bus. It creates a lot of phase shift. You want to mix with it on individual tracks where phase shift isn’t as problematic
@AlexReidStudios Жыл бұрын
I dunno, for testing how the EQ cleans some frequencies chaotic music can be a good source, it worked here.
@jmmusic013 Жыл бұрын
@@INeedsMoneys That's not true, the developers have a post on their forum that shows no difference in phase shift when comparing to ProQ3 using the same process. A minimum phase EQ is a minimum phase EQ. I use it on the master with the imaging controls and the magic shelves and just subtly with the harmonics and it's like magic,

It also doesn't make sense at all to test it on a track that's already released, unless it wasn't mastered before release, in which case I'm disregarding the reviewer's opinion entirely because they released an unmastered track.

interesting concept, but not the implementation i would think is the most useful or expected. i was thinking it would be more something that changed its eq point based off midi input for a key tracking effect or something like that, which is something ive messed with in patcher, and im sure is doable in the grid.

Boosting resonances with sharp filters like this also extends the duration of those resonances because of the phase shifts. i'd be very careful using this.
