If I am not mistaken, you can then save the manipulated MIDI data output from Scaler then bring it back into reMIDI and mangle it again and create a related part. Endless possibilities. Totally cool brofriend.

Speaks to the genius of the old masters (of classical music) that their pieces lend themselves to sampling of catchy random hooks ;-) I wish reMIDI's parameters such as frame length would be remote controllable via MIDI CC.

Scaler2 is an absolute masterpiece of software. anyone interested in creating music of any form should embrace it. Watching this video and seeing the concept of ReMIDI gave me a ton of ideas, but i immediately realized all of this is possible without ReMIDI. I am sure all of us have the old zip files of 100 thousand midi files etc. They have been going around the internet for over a decade. All of these classical compositions are in those archives. In ableton/bitwig you could put splices of those within a grid and choose specifically the launch quanitization and which ones will stop each other or layer on each other. Within the piano roll and a DAW you can do as much multiplying of time or slicing as you need. ReMIDI 2 has some cool ideas, but it nothing you can't already do if you know your way around editing midi and utilizing scenes within ableton and bitwig -> scaler2 It has value in terms of convenience maybe, but not power. I do think a "midi drum machine" is something bitwig could implement in the future. i am going to show them this software and hopefully it inspires them. it would be cool to have a single NoteFX Layer with a grid of different midi clips you could play. And have all the same in-depth settings as scenes..

I'm kinda late to this video but just to let everyone know, the "Captain Chords" plugin allows you to do this but with original MIDI notes you come up with rather than downloading someone else's MIDI performance. I've been using it to drive Scaler 2 then to actually play my Roland Fantom 8's V-Piano or Jupiter 8 tone modes.

You can easily do this as well with Scalar. Just play in the MIDI or use your own MIDI clips either with reMIDI or just with Scaler. What's cool about reMIDI are the controls you have with "sampling" and manipulating the MIDI. - JC

Don't do this in FL Studio. LOL. You will crash FL Studio. Sadly the way FL Studio deals with midi, it is a pain to even set things up lol. 🙂Thanks for the teaching. Can you play a MIDI part like you would play a sample on the keyboard so it transposes in scale on all the keys? Then you can play a MIDI motif up and down the keyboard and maybe put different MIDI motifs for each octave. Another set up that I haven't seen would be if you could have a different motif for each key and then there is a special octave that applies MIDI effects to the motifs in real time like transposing them, rescaling, reversing, inversing, straightening and so on. I mean, that would be some advanced improvisation.

sorry man I like music made from the heart and soul of a human. And I like music with mistakes too, the beauty in perfection. Like when you mistakenly play notes outside the key and discover that it works so wonderfully. And the syncopation man, what is music without it? it's robotic that's what... Not putting down scaler and remidi I think they can be useful tools when used sparingly.

I can see the quality of mainstream music further going down the drain. I am gonna continue learning theory and use it to apply to my creativity. While the presenter Joshua seems really excited at the prospect of this plugin, he himself is a really good pianist and possibly a composer too and wont need all this. Btw EZKEys has been manipulating midi, internal and external, for a while now, inside one single plugin.

@@LightWingStudios Yes it does. I have both of them. I compose by theory and ear, so I dont really need scaler. Ezkeys manipulates midi like crazy. You can feed it any midi and it will let you repurpose the scale, key, progression etc. Also the midi bank of ezkeys is huge. Although its primarily a piano and keys plugin so the ezkeys midi performances are for non electronic music mostly. But can be used anywhere. Watch the Mgthefuture videos on ezkeys. He goes in really deep with what you can do with ezkeys. He even clubs it with scaler.
@LightWingStudios3 жыл бұрын
@@T3Rmin4LCuRi0siTy Are there close to 15 VIs included with EZKeys? No. Does EZKeys have a Chord Extractor from Audio files? No. You say you don't need Scaler because of your knowledge and skill set. Fine... but why do you need EZKeys to begin with if that knowledge is so great? Scaler is a MUCH BETTER MUSIC & THEORY LEARNING TOOL for alot of people who DO NOT have the knowledge or skill set. As a matter of fact that is the PRIMARY reason it was created to begin with.
@T3Rmin4LCuRi0siTy3 жыл бұрын
@@LightWingStudios I need ez keys because I cant play the piano. I play the guitar. Ez keys has 8 different keys and piano instruments which have 10 to 15 editable sound presets each. And for audio to chord extraction to chord track I have studio one daw, it works seamlessly. Scalar is not bad, it's just that it's not as straightforward as ezkeys to get a finished unique midi performance.
