The great advantage of these short films can also be a disadvantage, especially if you're looking to have everything wrapped up and tied with a bow, maybe ready for the sequel. All of these films require more input from the viewer, more imagination. These films remind me so much of the science fiction that was being written in the 1960's and early 1970's. Those books were a challenge to read just as these films are a challenge to watch. Keep them coming!

I mean... it doesn't give you much. It delights your imagination as to what it could be with all these things but never has any real context, just some long drawn out point she talks to her dad and it gets on... And on... And on and on and on. I do like the acting, they made me feel immersed somehow when there was nothing to be immersed in. This does have the feel of a fully fleshed out series but 24 minutes didn't scratch the itch it created. It really did nothing for all the great stuff this actually had. I thoroughly enjoyed it but they opened way too many doors and then proceeded to slammed them in our faces just as we came close

I will give it a "has potential" rating - the idea of FTL and crystals and persons capable of doing something with them is intriguing and they did a pretty good job of making things look alien. The characters were both annoying - doing stupid stuff inconsistent with the severity of their situation.

Excellent work! It was really an enjoyable short to watch. Of course the script leaves some things unresolved,and its a pity. Perhaps 2-3 more mins to explain the importance of the child, its power and what are those crystals all about would be necessary. Other than that brilliant work. Wish there was a second episode or something.

@fporretto7 жыл бұрын
This has a "teaser" quality to it. The acting, scripting, and cinematography are all more than competent, but there isn't enough connective tissue for it to constitute a story. Throughout I waited for some sort of indication -- or evocation -- of what David's family was fleeing, and why. As for the crystals, there was no indication of their importance beyond that the "Ministry" didn't want anyone to have one. Perhaps Darkwave will extend it with additional clips, which I'd very much like to see.

I liked this little, subtle bit: He says to her daughter "You have changed so much." She says to her father "And you haven't changed at all." And he mentions drifting at 30,000 miles/second. That's about 16% of light speed. Even though it would be small, time dilation would have had an effect. I'm not sure if it was intentional by the writers as that dialog exchange could be taken in a more literal way but it offered a linguistic overlay for the nerds that noticed.

All actors are, in essence, good liars (or storytellers if you don't lie that term),, and children that young usually haven't had enough experience in life to have developed the skills an adult or even a teen has.
@oldmanfromscenetwentyfour81648 жыл бұрын
Lying isn't the skill that's needed to act, it's the abilities to imagine, pretend and play. Kids have those skills. I've seem many kids take on difficult roles, years ahead of them and do them well.

Adults can't do FTL, not organic enough, (Quantum Physics issue?) But, Organic kid can! What was the Dark Wave? Natural, man made, alien, or AI? Perhaps too much Tech messed up things. Now regular, organic kids are needed to break the grip of the 'Whatever' that is running things. So parents, kids, families can change everything, but 'In Change' thing doesn't want to lose power. So... Parents run to save their little family! Phoenix is re-birth from the ashes of destruction. Symbols of hope! This could truly be a world changing TV series!
