I think he did time travel to a distant future time, a dystopian earth with mostly extinct life. So, of course, everything would be in English and his father would be long dead. It would be cool if he found his old residence before the cataclysmic event.

Damn shame he wasn't smart enough to one go back to where he saw the sip land & what got out & two he waited far to long to give the thing to his asswipe old dad before it was to late plus he got greedy in his revenge which promptly backfired in a bad way but at least this time seems he's not alone. Interesting premise but a few oddities. There's no life ("no fish in the water") except the birds, so what are the birds living on? "Dead deer" he says; so where are they? Are any living? What-ever happened to everybody couldn't have been that long ago or the food; even canned; wouldn't be any good anymore. Also there wouldn't be any power left for anything. The batteries in his radio would be dead; the radio tower wouldn't have had power and so on. Kind of funny that he gets "hoist by his own petard" after his brilliant idea of sending his OLD father away for ten years. His dad would have almost certainly died in the other dimension within the ten years. Another entertaining ending would be of him getting jailed when his long-dead father returns and he gets caught with the corpse and sent to prison. Locked away from the world, but surrounded by people he'd rather not be with.
@MichaelAlexanderAlmir6 ай бұрын
Worm Hole Vortex Time Travel to post APOCALYPSE Earth. Dad is long dead from cataclysmic event. Birds can fly above and see food. Deer are scarce. Everything is mostly extinct rebuilding population from scratch " a new beginning". If the power stations and cell phone towers and cell phone antenna and batteries are not damaged then there is every reason the power would still be on or available. Batteries are free in any store he shoplifts from.😅
@WickedPrince3D6 ай бұрын
@@MichaelAlexanderAlmir Every possible energy source for a power plant requires human workers; unless they fully automated by then, and even then they usually prefer at least one human eye on things. Machines wear down and require maintenance and energy producing machines also need maintenance. If you buy a pack of normal batteries, they list a "best used by" date because the chemicals break down. Go find a device you left a battery in for a long time - I ruined my old Boombox because I left batteries in it for over a decade. They don't last forever, so somebody has to be making them, and that requires a variety of chemicals and materials. IE: other factories that have to be running with other people running them. Usually I'm willing to overlook a lot of stuff for the story, but for some reason this one I can't.
@MichaelAlexanderAlmir6 ай бұрын
@@WickedPrince3D True, bit these places have underground bunkers so service will not be interrupted. Only senior elite are eligible for bunker survival perks. Alkaline batteries last over 10 years from date of manufacture. Nickel Cadium leak.
@WickedPrince3D6 ай бұрын
@@MichaelAlexanderAlmir I don't think I knew about the alkaline's, but even so that dimension cannot have been desolate for very long. If there were people hiding in bunkers why wouldn't one of them respond to the radio? And why would a bunkers independent power be supplying an old radio tower? If the radio tower was to support the bunker then absolutely they should have been aware of his radio contacts. Unless the bunker is running on a tiny nuclear pile with a very good computer monitor program nothing that supplies general power would last for long without a human monitor/tech to keep it running. But really I'm arguing too much, like I said in a previous response I generally just accept story discrepancies as "something we're not told about" as an explanation and then just run with the story. It IS an amusing story, I imagine that he survives ten years, gets home, his dad yells at him some more, and he decides to send his dad to the dead dimension for a hundred years, and then goofs up again and gets sent there himself. ;)
@MichaelAlexanderAlmir6 ай бұрын
@@WickedPrince3D The reason the bunker is connected to radio tower, cell towers and telephone lines are to check in on the world to see who might answer. If you're in a bunker there would be a minimum time to stay to avoid the radiation fallout that would have killed possibly 90% of all sentient life forms. He should have been contacted but was not?

I am left with many questions, such as the connection between the aliens and the abandoned world, why alien tech uses English text, how the Trapped Man survived a year with just a plastic fork ... but I will leave all that aside and offer one suggestion : "Show, don't tell." If you have not encountered this principle of writing -- and especially screen writing -- then you soon will. For example, don't TELL us through narration that food is scarce and the Trapped Man keeps a secret cache of food; SHOW us by showing (un-narrated) scenes of him finding mostly-empty stores and kitchen cupboards, expressing through acting his growing frustration, and SHOW us him at the end of the day at a secret cache of food, clearly running low, with an anxious look on his face. Many other things could be shown, instead of told. You almost got there with the scene of him throwing stones into the lake; if you removed the narration and if that scene had been preceded by several other scenes showing us his situation and his inner struggle (is he thinking of ending it? show him atop a building roof, hesitating at the edge, peering over, and let his acting, facial expressions, the sound design, and the camera work indicate that he is contemplating a way out ...), then the visuals of the lake scene just as they were would have aptly conveyed the idea that he goes to the lake to toss in pebbles for a moment of quiet acceptance. I see a firm foundation here, and I encourage you to keep at it, and hone your skills through more and more projects.
