I could watch newts for hours and not be bored. The experience is sublime.

Have I met you somewhere? Do you tend to leave a lot of comments on dinosaur videos or forums?

I HAVE watched newts for hours. Kept Japanese warty newts, locally caught common newts and re-bellied newts in an aquarium in my youth. Still fun to see the pretty little chaps in local ponds, especially the gorgeous crested little dragon common newt males.

I have never seen so many newts. Seems to be more than one variety and a few toads thrown in for good measure. Well done, nice to see our nature being looked after in this way.

Lovely shots of the efts. The grown newts look like mini-godzillas. :)

Yes I have a few Newts, but your population is amazing! There is so many.
@neo-filthyfrank13473 жыл бұрын
Probably because his feeding supports a far higher population than normal.

Loved seeing the frog at 6:30. Was wondering if the tadpoles were frog or newt. Love to see them coexist.

Lizards, they are like lovely aquatic lizards, so cool ,

Actually the look extremely fish-like. Makes it easy to visualize how it was when those first lobe finned fish started making the necessary developments for land.

I really enjoyed your video. I have both smooth and palmate newts in my pond but they only seem to be visible at night, when I use a torch around the pond They never seem to come near the surface during the day, in the way that yours do. Are there any tips that you can give? Most books suggest they are shy during the day but yours certainly are not. Amazing.

How does the pond look so natural? Did you use a liner and could you give some details on the construction or the pond

Great job on the pond, those guys are thriving! Do you know what kind of frogs they are too? I dont think they look like Rana Tempora but possibly they are the pool frogs that inhabit parts of England? Either way, what a garden you have, keep up the good work 😉
@davidstclair34025 жыл бұрын
yeah that frog certainly looked different from the common ones we get in our garden

I think there European pond frogs

There are alot of different morphs of common frog
@prisonmike17983 жыл бұрын
Definitely not Rana Tempora, it’s a member of the Pilphylax genus of green frogs. Could be pool frogs or edible frogs. Too small to be adult marsh frogs, however they are hard to distinguish from each other

Newts have a very good sense of smell, I sometimes feed mine freeze dried tubifex worms. Frozen bloodworm works but frozen tubifex is ignored!

The pond looks great! We have also just created a wildlife pond and have frogs/newts..we hope it will look as natural as yours as things grow and settle in. Is that bloodworms you have fed to them? If so, do you buy them frozen or live?

@tomokofliearman94683 жыл бұрын
In my pond, nothing really... they come back to my pond in the spring to mate. The season is over, they are gone. Then babies, tadpoles with gills now!
