I always say, this is why you are my top favorite homesteader… your funny, knowledgeable and best of all… tidy and organized. We all have seen those other homesteaders who don’t maintain their expensive farm equipment, leave hoses and fences lying around everywhere and Scrap metal and wood littering their entire property. It’s not hard to be organized. Create a home for every single thing you have and when you use something, immediately put it back where it belongs. It hurts my heart to see my other favorite homesteaders beautiful land, animals and garden spaces looking like a junkyard so it is a breath of fresh air to see you taking time to organize your life.

I would go to harbor freight and grab some wheels for those tables you just cut in half. My husband did this and we have found how nice it is to move them around for cleaning and he actually made one to store his tools. When he does a project, he just rolls it out to the work area in the building. Just a thought. It's nice all the space you have. I also thought about your excess greenhouse plastic I use mine in my hoop house. I grow greens all through the winter. In your zone, they would survive without issue. You would just need to get some wire fencing and cut them at I believe 72". I have to use Johnny's frost protection blankets here in IL then cover with the plastic. Elliott Coleman's winter harvest book is where I got this idea.

You could hang some of the shorter tools down on the bottom. I have mine doubled that way and it works great. Maximizes the space and ease of getting to them.

Talking about keeping the sense of urgency when organizing is so accurate. A lot of what motivates me during the winter is realizing how quickly the growing season will be here again and I don't want to feel ao far behind during that time. I want to go into woth realistic expectations of what the season will be, not trying to catch up from the winter.

What a gold mine that barn with all those stalls..I may have said this before, we had an upright freezer die. I used it to store our used paint cans. Anything with toxic smells. It kept it from freezing at our 2000 feet elevation. It lasted longer too.

I love what you are doing with the stalls! Looks great! 👌 Don’t throw away those rubber mats, they’re expensive and you could easily sell them to someone who has big animals and needs them. I want to organize all my garden stuff, tools and home tools but I don’t even have a shed. I do have a walk-out basement but the walls are cinder blocks and I don’t have tools or strength to attach anything to them. So things get piled up or leaned against the walls. Drives me crazy! FYI haven’t had much snow in the last several years but got about 8 inches today and it’s not finished yet.
