Not sure if this one really counts because it is pretty blatant, although some people might have missed it. In The Austere Academy when Larry the waiter (think that's his name) is trapped in the freezer someone on the phone/walkie-talkie asks him if he's in the mountains and that they shouldn't be there until the end of the season. There lots of analogies in this season. I might have noticed some of them which I think are very interesting: -At some point, Olaf falls and one of his shoes with the wings on the sides get launched in the air, right in front of the slogan "memento mori". The winged shoes are a reference to Hermes who is not just a generic God, he is the protector of thieves (that's why Olaf worn them) and graves (so death, as in memento mori which is latin for "remember you'll die"). -The owl council is actually wearing crow hats. Those who should be pursuing justice are actually just punishing people. the owl council is doing exactly the opposite of what it should do Crows are in fact natural enemies of the Owls. Plus a group of crows are called a murder which is what the council seems very much fond of. -The file that the Librarian in the hospital briefly looks at is the wether report at Democles Dock, which is where the hurricane in the first season happens. Plus, if you stop the video and read the report you can see that the hurricane happens on the 18th of September 1926 and that Democles Dock is situated in Miami. In the real world Miami was actually struck by a devastating hurricane in that very same date. Democles Dock is instead a fictional location I forgot some of the others and I bet there are a lot I missed. I think this care for the detail is the best way to keep someone very focused on the series while is very common not to do in other series

Actress Lucy Punch has been outstanding as Esme - definitely can't wait to see more of her next season! That filing room scene was really well done too! As for Lulu's comment on Esme's hair, there's a few things going on there. First of all, in the books, from what I remember, Esme's hair is brown - so it's probably a little nod to that. Also, in the books, Madame Lulu's real hair is blond, but her hair as Madame Lulu is dark - so it's likely also a little hat-tip to that! :-)

One of the most major rewrites was the fate of two characters. In the books, that androgynous guy dies in the burning hospital, and the bald man dies in the lion pit. I personally think this change is better since it fits the tone of the show, but I have no idea how they're going to pull off their deaths and the rest of the more serious darker moments in Season 3 due to the theater troupe's humorous connotations. As an example, the scene where Olaf dies was serious, the scene where the two women decide they had enough and walk off into the mountains was serious, the entirety of Fernald (hook man) becoming a good guy, etc. My best guess is they'll have to somehow find a way to shoehorn in those two's death, as well as everyone else's death/exit of the troupe in a way that is serious, overcoming the non-serious connotations surrounding them. Now that I read someone else's comment, I guess they'll probably die in the Penultimate Peril.

Flicks And The City I think that the quote that Carmelita said " tell me what you want, what you really really want " is a reference to the popular song - wannabe

In The Hostile Hospital Pt. 2 if you look carefully at the list of patients when Klaus and Sunny find which room Violet is in, it says she’s in the hospital for a pricked finger. Later, when Klaus and Sunny disguised as a doctor enter the operating theatre, Count Olaf says, “We have been eagerly awaiting, and so has our little Sleeping Beauty.”

an easter egg you missed was in the Vile Villiage, (pt. 2) was a very small one. when hector is showing the orphans around the mobile home, there is a shot on the library. in that library you can see a copy of the Pony Party.

Also in the village of foul devotees episode, the Nevermore Tree is a nod to Edgar Allan Poe's poem, The Raven where the episode is set obviously in a town built around crows, especially Klaus' line where the Quagmires aren't in the tree as excepted and he says, "nothing, nobody" quoting the poem, which is so fitting in a series centered around the importance of reading.

I loved the one when Babs said in the Hostile Hospital 1 that paperwork makes the world go round and Olaf replies:"I thought money did" a refrence to the Musical Cabaret!

In part 2 of The Austere Academy, when Sunny needs to sort out the file cards of students who owe Vice Principal Nero candy by the color of candy Nero wants, the scene's music is a reference to Candy Crush.

When Olaf is in the jail cell, Jacques offers him tea and Olaf says he always makes it too bitter. A reference to the sugar bowl!

The fact that Tony Hale (Jerome Squalor) and Usman Ally (The Hook-Handed Man) both worked together on Veep was a neat touch. Tony also worked with Will Arnett (Violet, Klaus and Sunny’s dad) on Arrested Development.

In Carnivorous Carnival there's "Who Could It Be At This Hour?", one of "All The Wrong Questions"

I like it when Count Olaf steps out of one of the tents during the carnival episodes and asks "Who could that be at this hour?" which references one of the Lemony Snicket books.

Did anybody notice that the third name of the woman involved with count Olaf was illegibly carved into the bar at Dry Bar, possibly a reference to her being replaced by the librarian?
@Creativerose10006 жыл бұрын
yep..., and it is a woman Lemony Snicket "knows [VERY] well...". If you get my drift there... ;) and I'm not referring to the one he was implying to from the beginning (if read the series)

In The Carnivorous Carnival Pt. 1, there's a neat reference to Tod Browning's Freaks (1932): when the orphans first appear (in disguise) to the other "freaks" at the carnival, the "freaks" chant, "One of us! One of us!" similar to a scene in Browning's film.

There was another fun little easter egg of where in the car ride to VFD town, Mr. Poe says "I imagine they'll draw lots like in that Shirley Jackson story." The story is called "The Lottery" where the town's people draw a slip of paper and whoever gets the slip with a black dot will be stoned. I found that fun input!

When Hector shows the baudelaires his hot air balloon and klouse notices the book, you can see another book written by Lemony Snicket

Wow!! This was really cool to watch. I spotted a lot of the Easter eggs and found them quite funny, but another lot of them I missed! And there were some not included in here, like when in The Penultimate Peril Part 1, Carmelita says “I wanted to go to littlest elf land!” This is a reference to the movie, where in the beginning it shows a thing called the Littlest Elf. Another part this appears is in The Vile Village Part 1 (or 2) Hector shows a book called The Littlest Elf. This is a *Very Far-thought Discussion*
