As another Serious Runner, Strava just came in handy to qualify me for a good wave at BolderBoulder. I submitted my ~HM leg of the CIM Relay and now I don’t have to run my first BB with the “hobby joggers”. On a more sincere note, Strava has been nothing but fun and supportive as I’ve cemented friendships with runners all over, some of whom I’ve met in person and many others who I hope to meet in the future. We are not competitive; rather we inspire and motivate one another. Martha

I'd love to know the serious runner's take on strength training (and going to the gym as a runner)

He got close to that on the video about being on the treadmill next to others in the gym (in this case, Sage C!)

This is the nicest comment that I've ever gotten. But it's not true. A recent post on Letsrun suggests you shouldn't have a BMI above 19. And well, I'm way over that. But I appreciate your kind words.

As a serious runner, I will find 10 segments on Strava to run in a row. I'll race them as hard as I can, be so out of breath that I have to walk to the next one, then hype my run as "being amazed that I found the strength to be the fastest runner today on ALL TEN SEGMENTS!!!!"

The mayor of the next town over and I have been exchanging local legend status for the path in his town on Strava and I don’t know if he realizes how seriously I take that competition. I assume that you were specifically deriding him and his people stopped you when you said whatever you dubbed over with “hobby joggers” because he’s the worst. Eat it, Mayor Patel.

I know some runners who are all about the elevation. I quit groups because of this competition and only run against myself. Looking to do a watch-less Wednesday weekly. A day of activities that are not officially documented. Not sure if I’m a ‘hobby jogger’ Ive run an ultra… but there is too much pressure on social media. Just get out and do something 🤷🏻♀️
@feezee822 жыл бұрын
That’s why I stopped using Strava. I felt like it created too much pressure to run faster and further than your fitness allows. I’m not saying everyone should do the same, but for me it’s much more enjoyable to run when I don’t need to worry about sharing my workouts. As for the watch, I considered going watch-less, but maybe not just yet. I don’t track any other activity other than running, and pretty much never look at heart rate anymore. But I still want to keep track of my weekly distance.
